This role focuses on asset integration, performance optimization, R&D, and enabling art teams through tooling and documentation. Your focus will be building stable, scalable, and visually performant content, tools, systems and workflows in Unreal Engine 5.
This role exists at the core of production, linking technical knowledge with artistic ambitions. You’ll reduce complexity, increase throughput, and protect performance across the pipeline while achieving and helping the art teams achieve stunning visual results. We’re building docs, workflows, tools and systems that should be transferred also to new projects, and we need visual flow to get us there.
About the role:
We are looking for a Pipeline Technical Artist that will be part of a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the systems, tools, and automation that streamline the flow of assets from digital content creation tools into the game engine. This person will ensure the pipeline is robust, scalable, and optimized for production by automating repetitive tasks, integrating DCC tools with engine processes, creating or collaborating to create automations to validate asset standards, and supporting source control and build systems. Someone that will help the team enable artists to focus on content creation while ensuring technical compliance, consistency, and efficiency across the entire art production lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain tools in Python, Blueprints, Editor Blueprints (and optionally C++, C#) to streamline DCC to engine workflows
• Build robust pipelines for importing and processing assets from any DCCs into Unreal Engine 5
• Automate content processing: exporters, validators, batch processes, importers, etc…
• Create or take ownership of asset validation systems and optimization rules
• Ensure functional documentation for pipelines, tools, and integrations, onboarding users and support adoption
• Troubleshoot pipeline blockages and bottlenecks and provide technical support to art teams during production
• Collaborate closely with Technical Artists, Artists, Engine, Tools Team, and Producers to ensure alignment and workflow continuity
• Participate in R&D around procedural pipelines, CI/CD integrations, and scalable content delivery systems
• Interface with version control and automation frameworks: Perforce, Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.
Candidate Requirements:
• 3+ years in a Pipeline Technical Artist or similar technical role in game production
• Expert in Python scripting, or additional similar scripting languages
• Understanding of DCC APIs, with proven experience building production tools
• Experience working with Unreal Engine 5 (UE5 asset import pipelines, editor scripting, automation)
