An idea...

Something has been floating in my mind lately...With so many empty buildings, why do the stalkers gather inside an old, rusty, unstable boat? Wouldn't it be better if they are inside a solid and (somehow) safer place? Not to mention it will look and feel more atmospheric.Just imagine this-you're wandering the streets at night,it is almost quiet, the wind is wispering in your ears, you can even hear dogs nearby, but still-it's quiet. But in the distance you can hear voices, quitar play, chatter and even see lights. Different windows of the building are lit, with a guard on the main entrance. And i'm not talking of every building being like that, maybe one or two in the entire area. Now,i know,we can see something like that during nighttime in Zaton /Skadovsk/ but it's not quite the same. What about if it's raining? What about if there is a blowout? What about if it's windy and stormy, and you're scared and feel the urge to get there as fast as possible? Not knowing what you may find there,though-enemy,friend or who knows what.We are talking about atmosphere here.
Share you thoughts.

Good idea,

except for one thing. Stalkers love to squat in the rain and mud to play guitar and drink vodka even when there is some perfectly good shelter 5 steps away.

the boat does actually make sense though, steal plate stops radiation better then concrete, and the doors are heavy and sturdy, for the most part. building's doors are usually wooden and aren't strong enough by comparison, also theres less windows, therefore less holes to fill to protect from blowouts.

less "atmospheric" i admit, but definately more realistic,

Damn those pesky Bloodsuckers!

i'd like to see more of Rostock for some reason, don't know why, the place just never really made sense for me the way it was in SOC.

Most of the locations didn't make sense...railways leading to nowhere etc
Especially the one between Agroprom and Garbage...

I'll give you the railways to nowhere, that one always bugged me. But what else didn't make sense in the first two games? It wasn't until CoP, with it's need to compress a bunch of landmarks into a relatively small area that things really started making no sense to me.

Like a secret military BIS facility in full view of a civilian camp ground. A camp ground that has a picturesque view of the water treatment plant. Or a SAM base right across from a civilian train station.

Sound perfectly resonable to me...

The railroad between agroprom and the garbage, you could just about pass off the underground tunnel could... i stress could... be said to branch off to Rostock.

But rostock made the least sense for me because it's a factory... with a main road going to the Garbage, another to the Warehouses, another off to Yantar. yet there isn't a clear road from one to another???,

From the garbage you'd have to drive a truck along the road, reach a building, either drive through said building or dismount all the supplies and carry them... let's suppose you drove through the building, crashing through some pumps, and then a wall! either go north round the church then through the wall of another building before reaching the short windy road that leads to the Wild Terriotory - warehouses junction, or you go through two builings past the bar to reach the same windy road. then drive north... or drive west, until you reach a brick wall which you can't drive though, so you'd have to dismount... etc... etc... you see where i'm going with this!

That's why it always confused me. i'd like to see it make a little more sense.

Now that you mention it, Rostok is pretty much a three-way hub with no way to drive a supply truck all the way through it, or around it, to another destination, isn't it? I never thought about it that way before.

The southern entrance dead-ends at a warehouse, the western entrance ends at the construction site, and the northern entrance ends at yet another warehouse. There is another road at the Army Warehouses/Wild Territory junction that heads south through a closed gate, but it just ends at another set of warehouses in the Twilight Zone.

Huh.
