I'm using the 314.07 Nvidia drivers with the appropriate drivers, but from what you said, think it could be down to the graphics card or the software?

Also do you get strange shadows when you are close to objects? I seem to get it a lot.

Also do you get strange shadows when you are close to objects? No!

If the only problem is shadows up close I wouldn't think the video card is at fault. In Options try turning off anything relating to the Sun. And where do you have your Shadow Quality slider at?

And what settings are you using in the nVidia Control Panel?

There is the 'Nvidia Inspector' program you could try.

Its all ok now, the attempted fixes of DirectX 10 somehow managed to fix the shadow issue in DirectX 11 which is brilliant, thanks for all your help stalkers!

I guess Graphics drivers and windows drivers were the issue for the DirectX 11 mode, but its a shame I didn't manage to fix the DirectX 10.

I registered just to say that I have the same problem except that my game crashes in both DX10 and DX11 modes. I don't know why though because I am playing CoP in DX10 mode since its release without any problems. Now I decided to go back to the game (because of Misery 2.0) and I can't play it in its full beauty. Its very annoying My current rig is AMD FX-8350, 2x4GB Corsair VengeanceLP @ 1600mhz, 6850 1GB. I am running vanilla game with just the FoV changer and the more than 2gb ram patch. The game was working perfectly fine with various mods a few months ago (back then I was with Phenom II x4 if that matters). I really want to find some fix for this because I want to play Misery 2.0 maxed out when it comes out. Yeah my GPU is not a beast anymore but I am playing under 1280x1024 so its not a problem for the 6850

Winteractual, Hello and welcome, It's interesting that your using an AMD graphics card and not an Nvidia as mentioned previously. Maybe you should try different drivers as they did. I have not noticed any issues with my 7850 but I'll run through the settings later to double check them. I'm currently on dx11 and it is fine. I'm using the most recent drivers that are auto-loaded.

I usually just set all the specific software programs to do auto checks so I use what ever there giving not beta's.

I am using the latest non-beta drivers too. Everything is fresh. I mean I got my new MB and CPU a 4-5 days ago so the Windows is freshly installed, I installed the game yesterday so its not messed up by some old mods or something.

Actually I managed to fix it. Reinstalled the game and everything's fine. I guess something messed up during the installation last time. It happens I guess.

Just as an aside, I've been running dual HD5970s since CoP's RUS release, and the first few driver packs from ATI then were fine for any rendering mode... then DX11 when to crap. Newer driver packs have never worked right, and I've had countless CTD because of it.

On the other hand, NVidia cards were never fully DX10 supportive. NVidia tried to stay away from DX10 as long as possible. ATI was actually better with DX10 at that time, even supporting DX10.1 (which both CS and CoP *do* support, but must be manually turned on via the console). But, to point out, if you're running an SSAO mode not aimed for your hardware, you'll have lots of problems... ATI cards should be using HDMA while NVidia cards should run HBMA. Big difference in performance and reliability when using the correct method for your hardware.

Unstable Dx10

I have issues with Dx10. My video card is a Sapphire Radeon HD7850 2GB, on Windows 7 x64, latest AMD Catalyst drivers are up (currently 13.2), Dx11 is the latest available.

The game is highly unstable if i switch to Dx10, my game crashes if i change map (the new map doesn't load, it crashes on loading screen) or it freezes in the main menu with this crash:

0023:6AD14906 d3d11.dll
0023:6AD174F0 d3d11.dll
0023:6ACC3E5A d3d11.dll
0023:0995B8FA xrRender_R3.dll

[error][ 18] : There are no more files.

I have absolutely no crash problems with Dx9 or Dx11, the game never crashes with d3d**.dll errors.
