Anomaly Mod

Massive mod, stable and 64 bit, it feels like an updated vanilla stalker game, I can't understand why it no ones making a fuss.

"The main focus in the pack is better graphics and performance. And introducing a 64 bit X-Ray engine that can run many Call of Chernobyl based mods. Last Day is an awesome pack and I really enjoy it a lot, but it's a bit rough round the edges. So in its core, Anomaly tries to preserve the game mechanics of Last Day that I enjoyed the most while changing it from hard and punishing to challenging but fair"

It sounds interesting, I'll have to give it a try. Cheers for the heads up.

Another Misery clone

This mod's like Marmite,
You either love it or hate it.

I start the game in the Marshes, First off I find that if I go into the menu to put an item of clothing on it forces me out of the menu where it seems like I'm doing a jig to something on my Walkman before regaining control of myself, then I have to do the same thing again to put on a helmet.
However, I can put up with that as it's not something you do very often so I moved on, At the church I tried to get to the headstone stash and found that entering a radiated area makes the screen look like some Stalker's shining a torch in my eyes, Mind you it can't be the same sort of torch I've been given, I finally got it working after buying batteries and figuring out that it uses the O button instead if the L button as the main menu states. I haven't tested it but I presume the O button's still the artifact detector button as well meaning it's a one or the other item that barely manages to light up the end of my gun, let alone anything that's more than a foot away, sod going into any dark areas with that. But, I'll keep going.
Next I reach the burnt farmstead where a psydog jumps me, It's first bite blinds me with blood all over the screen & the second bite kills me and this is on the novice setting, WTF! I gave up at that point, It seems I'm a hater.

There was one big difference that's a positive and that was how smoothly it seemed to run, It had none of judder I normally experience with the Stalker titles and that may be down to the 64bit change so I'm going to see if I can use the engine changes with the original COC.

I started in Cordon as a loner and restarted 3 times as training as there are many options which I tried until I had the game challenge I liked. After choosing one of the 3 starting modes (I choose Loner in Story mode) I hadn't realised you could change the difficulty.

There's something wrong with your install Nash as I've had no problems, except for about 3 ctd with no log in 20 hours of gameplay, have you applied the 1.3.3 update.

Have you unpacked the DB's? I unpacked but only used the files I wanted to alter rather than replacing the whole gamedata; you've cocked something up there me old mate as this is the most stable mod I've ever played.

I'm not a fan of the Misery clones as they take fun out of Stalker, too many items, too many guns, weird character models, stupid difficulty etc.

After getting killed by my own supidity and frustrated by 1 hit kills I just shut down the game.

Later on I started it again, now with more patience to get to know the game and it's mechanics, I kind liked it.
No more sprinitng through maps because anomalies now change position after the emmision, mutant parts are again very usefull, cookable and asked for by traders/hunters. Inventory management is more emphasized, new items that reduce raduation, new healing items.
Radiant quests and some new and unique ones, econmy is tougher but easily tweakable in options(extra) and lots of little things/addons can be turned off via options ????
There is 1 extra map called Meadow between Cordon and Dark Valley and Darkscape.

Overall mod is good if you give it a chance, it just slows the pace down comparing it to the original series, much more caution needed.

Another article about Anomaly 1.5 from Rock Paper shotgun. They liked it, "the next best thing to a sequel".

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/09/17/modder-superior-s-t-a-l-k-e-r-anomaly-is-the-next-best-thing-to-a-sequel/

"Anomaly can be as casual or as brutal as you like, with some options set during character creation and others tweakable in-game via the main menu.".

Anomaly Mod

All of this is sounding good.

Might have to check it out after LADC 1.4007 and before Stalker 2 in 2021.
