X8 Laboratory- Creepy Even After?

Am I the only one creeped out by the X8 lab, even when it's empty? I know there's nothing there (except the atmospheric sound effects) but it still freaks me out to go down there.

I've gone down once or twice, to avoid emissions (yeah, I know, there are other safe places in the same building), but I'm really not keen to go down the stairs any distance from the elevator doors.

I feel so wimpy.........

I spent too much time romping around Warlab to be creeped out by X8.

And all the builds.

You've spent too much time romping around in the builds to be surprised by Lost Alpha when it releases.

X8 wasn't that bad. X18 on static lighting in SoC, now thats creepy.

I've been creeped out in all of them, Stalker hit the creep factor bang on for me. I've nearly jumped out of my skin loads of times especially late at night wearing headphones.

Okay. In fairness, CoP is the only game I've ever played on a computer. I can imagine there may well be scarier games out there.

Got to agree with you 'bout headphones. I've startled everyone in the place a couple of times, trying to keep the noise down by wearing headphones, then squawking with something surprised me.

X8 Laboratory- Creepy Even After?

Sure there can be places creepy after the main action is gone.
That's called Atmosphere & something the Stalker Games are
good at. Even the building with the Bloodsucker Lair in Zaton
is creepy long after the nest is cleared out especially at night.

If CoP is the only Game you've played on the PC, you really
need to play the first game Shadow of Chernobyl. It has 5
times the underground places like CoP and unlike the X-8
Lab, even after you clear them out you can return to more
Mutants. In one of the Labs there are creatures there that
are only available on a 2nd visit that were not there the 1st.

That's just another reason SHOC is my favorite and will probably stay that way. You MUST play that on the PC!

Labs always freaked me out in Stalker games, maybe i liked Clear Sky so much because there were no labs in it

Anyway ShoC labs are best, something is always going on in there

SoC labs are better in terms of repopulation but to me X8's layout remained confusing for more playthroughs than the X-18 laboratory did.

Too bad there was never any underground section such as a tunnel network connecting underground bunkers in any of the games specifically tailored for A-Life usage and serving as a "short cut" to certain levels. I was really looking forward to a section like this in Clear Sky when I found out about the mercenaries' tunnels but alas the dreams did not come true .

You'll love the underground map specially made for the Russian map pack Olivious pointed out. It's like a maze and many times the size of x8. This short vid shows less than 10% of it.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It looks very competently made and the low ceilings will probably add an extra layer of delicious anxiety to the level, at least judging from the video

I spent ages mapping it out but I still get lost.
