If the game itself done properly then I for one would be quite pleased. It being an mmo, meh not that big of an issue.

As to other mmofps games with a similar theme, eeh well I guess Fallen Earth could be considered one.

I hope this MMO will be as widespread as WoW, with good servers everywhere. Having a laggy or limited MMO is not cool.

Hey, its still same GSC but different names. They are still same people. So its ok then. Knowing how great atmosphere is in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. they will make Survarium good too

---QUOTATION---
Survarium

Impassable woods advance onto cities from every side, maddened animals and birds attack industrial complexes, military structures, warehouses and power plants. Strange plants and mushrooms grow through concrete and steel. Scientists all over the world haplessly try to cope with the anomaly sprawling across the Earth with terrifying speed. Countries collapse, anarchy spreads throughout the world. Now force dictates who to survive.

---END QUOTATION---

In other words: rookis come of age and expand their explorations beyond Cordon and - beyond former USSR.

A rather natural development, this seems

Yeah, F2P does not mean it's automatically bad. They just have to be smart about it. I mean, look at Guild Wars 2. You buy the game, no subscription, and a micro-transaction store for extras and goodies, but nothing that creates imbalances. I think rather than straight F2P, that would be the best option to go with.

And after seeing other people talk about it, don't hate on Survarium because your pissed at STALKER 2 not happening. Everyone is upset about it, but it was out of their hands, and they are going to continue on and try to give us something different, but still acknowledging us STALKER fans, which is the best we can ask for right now.

Plus, Survarium sounds very STALKER-like already with talk of anomalies and the enviroment going crazy. It has things going for it already that sound awesome and it's filling a genre space that hasn't been done yet. I mean, can you name any near future, post-apocalyptic, MMOFPS, out there? I think not lol

It's good to see the community mostly positive about Survivarium and Vostok Games.

I'm not really (or really not) a MMO fan, but maybe as a FPS, it will suit me.

And, even if STALKERs series development where always so Chaotic, and because of that considering the results, i still believe in this team.

About locations and all the other things of the game, i'm sure there will be lots of things for STALKER fans. The CNPP can't be in a 'stalkerish' post-apocalyptic world .
Do we see Tunguska too, i'll bet for it too

I hope we'll still share the knowledge of the past xr-engines.
I hope too, this forum and its resources will remain for a long time. That's what is frighting me the most, me that only start to understand "how the things works" for modding.

So now that i must consider STALKER 2 as dead, my next wish will be to see a release of STALKER 2 material like it already did when the recent content of old things did.
Maybe shortly, maybe later but i'll keep hope.

How i have dreamed of a single and up-to-date engine, able to let me play the 3 STALKER parts, from CS to CoP, in the story-line steps...
Mabey some day... (please please please )

For now, STALKER is dead. And The Zone expands again. As said, it's fair.

ps: please excuse my aproximative language, it's not my native

+1

For the die-hard S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans this game will be a disapointment no matter how good/bad it will be, because it will act as a painful reminder of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s fate.

Having said that, if we judge the game as a stand-alone product, it might turn up ok. Post-apocalyptic MMOs are few and far in-between, and they usually go for the "hey guys we got nuked" storyline of Fallout descent. Heck, even some fantasy MMOs play the same tune (replace "nuke" with "overpowered wizard messing things up" . Survarium, on the other hand, comes with a fresh approach. Will it be a MMOSTALKER? Nope. It can't be. But it can be a game that we will enjoy.

However, there are many risks involved here. MMOFPS usually means nothing more than your average team-based FPS with an integrated server browser and an item mall. Frankly I've had enough of that, and a change of scenery won't do any good, I've got my counterstrike to keep me entertained when nostalgia hits So either they do a true MMOFPS, or it will be a flop.

Second risk (and my biggest pet peeve when it comes to MMOs) is that Free2Play usually means Pay2Win, with an item mall filled up to the brim with overpowered items/abilities that can't be aquired any other way. FPS = rule of the skill, a skilled player with crap items still has a good chance at defeating a newbie with god-tier items. I hope they won't forget that.

Third -- and this is a big concern of mine: Whenever a splinter group leaves the mother-company to form their own, it's a risky road. Many groups have failed trying to do that. Success stories are a bit rare, but they do exist (think Risen or Torchlight). Problem is, small new companies don't have money, so they get someone to finance them. And that someone usually wants immediate results (aka they want their money back, with interest). I have the nasty feeling that Vostok bites more than they can chew, starting right off the bat with a big expensive project... maybe they should first launch a couple of smaller games in order to raise some money and (more important) to gain attention, recognition and a group of fans. It would be truly unfortunate if we see Survarium being launched only to be closed a couple of months later because the sales figure hasn't met expectations. I've seen this in the past and it ain't pretty.

Same here, that TBS crap is why I keep away from MMOs, but there are a couple of exceptions to that rule (Hellbreed - now dead and buried, Metin2, Drakensang Online to name a few).

Welp... if I may be excused, I'll be on Skadovsk under the second table to the right, playing Tetris on my PDA. I'm hidden behind that wall of empty vodka bottles

STALKER has been my childhood. Since 13-14 years old I followed the game and wanted to play it. Hell, it is the only game I bought. As you can see, nowadays, everything has changed, in a bad way.

STALKER will become what StarCraft is today.
