So can someone give straight info?
Is there any confirmed news about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?
STALKER 2 development was scrapped two years ago and the development team disbanded. GSC still has the rights to the STALKER brand, but is not developing a sequel, nor has given anyone else permission to do so.

I still can't believe there are still people who do not know or understand that stalker 2 development was shutdown. You were in perfect ignorant bliss before you asked that question, and now.....you lay shattered like the rest of us. Why did you ask..whyyyyyyy.........

What a load of BS! And from the worst and most laziest dev team!

Good quote from the same site:

CD Projekt Red seem to be doing alright on a much smaller budget.

Wow, all the commenter's are better informed and more accurate than the actual professional AAA devs.
Fish AI? Seriously? Its a 3 state FSM, max, not a 200 unit perception cluster to control a realistic NPC. Its a FREAKING fish, it has 'swim randomly' 'choose direction' and 'move away from player' behaviour.
Anyway, I'm going rein myself in here. Don't want to go on an more of a rant.

But in all seriousness, that article is 150% BS, HS and DS. The comments are leagues more accurate and informative.

I just can't help but laugh at a Call of Duty guy talking about people wanting better graphics. For one thing, it's like he thinks this is a modern thing, and that people haven't wanted graphical improvements for ages. Only difference is now people want games to stop being 2005 with fancier shaders and certain models having increased polycount, rather than just plain "make things visually advance as tech advances". For another, just imagine... "People want better and better graphics, so we're going to keep making games every year with a slightly more improved Quake 3 engine! "

It's kind of disappointing to see that Raven Software is having a part in this game. It's nice that the company is still alive, but I'd really rather see them working on their own games or hell, even sequels to iD software IPs (e.g. Wolfenstein 2009, Quake IV) than wasting their development time on a kind of entertaining 4 hour action movie with horrible multiplayer.

I think the general sentiment is full of crap, too. Sure, when AAA is defined as "handholding interactive movie with Michael Bay explosions", it can be hard for people that aren't under EA or Activision to achieve that, but you can make great games without shoving tens of millions into the budget. (Crysis 1 had a lower budget than Crysis 2, and is still a considerably greater game, after all.) Hector_01's got a good point there, too: Metro:LL achieved far greater graphics than most games out there while most certainly not having a massive budget and managed to be an enjoyable game despite its flaws. (Granted, I hear the DLCs were pretty much universally terrible.) S.T.A.L.K.E.R., I think everyone here would agree, managed a similar status (maybe not so much on the graphics front) while also not having tens of millions of dollars to toss around on overscripted cutscenes.

It honestly seems that outside of some AAAs like the later Crysis titles and the graphics side of recent Battlefields, most of that budget goes toward horribly overblown and ridiculous marketing campaigns to hype up the fratboys and teenagers that are already into Call of Sequel to the point they whine and rage whenever any other game doesn't function exactly like it (both in terms of hand-holding, stupid simplicity for simpletons, and controls) and would buy or make their uninformed parents buy it for them anyway. (What game ever needs to hire actors like Peter Stormare to do some overblown and ridiculous ad for a crappy videogame?)

Of course, I'm annoyed with some of the commenters as well. "I would still be happy with Sprite based games, and no 3d models at all. Or at the very least N64 quality graphics." Get the hell out of here, guy. For ____'s sake it isn't ____ing 1996 anymore. The pretentious indie games with Atari graphics are annoying enough, we don't need every other game looking even worse than the "2005 with slightly fancy shaders and some models having higher polycount" of today just because some people care so little for the visual side of things....

I'd be content with the modded Clear Sky/Call of Pripyat graphics, but have great AI, dynamic and unpredictable A-life gaming, realistic weapons and combat, and great atmosphere.
I couldn't care less about yet a new garish, shallow shooter-on-rails CoD game.

Yeah.

Gameplay>Graphics

Of course that shouldn't mean that graphics should look like they are from 2002.
