~ Don Reba: I note the use of the past tense there - Sergey ran GSC like a bastard. That implies that he no longer runs GSC.

I think he meant that with no developers and no project, Grigorovich no longer has any GSC to run except on paper.

In order to talk about something you must experience it.

- Ancient.

Sorry mate, but that's cobblers. That sort of logic holds that you can't say anything about the results of jumping off a cliff until you've done it. Basically, it's unnecessary: a bit of thought will give you all the answer you need, and you know it'll hurt like a sod. The exact degree of pain is irrelevant, unquantifiable (as it's subjective rather than objective) and, assuming one survived, would be forgotten immediately (if you've been shot, broken a leg, or simply had a good kick in the happy sacs, it's the same).
There's also this little human trick called 'empathy'. It means you don't need to experience things directly to a) know about them, b) understand them, or c) (and this is the crucial part) comment upon them.
You say you've seen things. I dare say you have, living where you do. Know what? Plenty of us have 'seen things', too. But it doesn't matter, because even those who haven't can empathize.

~ BobBQ: Fair one. But then GSC apparently still has some kind of staff.

You can jump of a cliff and die - which implies that you will not have nothing to tell about your experience because you will be dead. So what's the point!
You can jump of a cliff and survive - and you can explain your experience which will be very short and simple.

You can also decide to not compare jumping of a cliff with ideology like Communism. To explain jumping of a cliff is simple. But to explain some ideology or social system without any experience is ridiculous.

And lets not talk about this anymore. It's off topic.

I have no idea what he is up to these days. AFAIK, GSC still exists and has employees, but I don't know what it does.

What a creepy habit. (having just got home from a day full of adventures, looks at the clock: 3 am; goes to shower and make breakfast)

With a proper cliff, nerve signals won't arrive in time for there to be anything to receive them. So, it will be scary for a bit, and then it will stop. It will be worse for whoever has to clean up.

You can jump of a big cliff and use a parachute to land safely. Then you can tell about the experience of falling.

I sent a polite email to GSC asking if they would consider either making a new STALKER 2, or selling the franchise to a fitting game studio. Also I politely told them that STALKER is one of the greatest game series of all time, and it would be a terrible waste to simply let it die. The STALKER games are still very popular and highly valued.
I think this is the most productive course of action we can take. If enough people write to GSC, maybe there will be a change of mind. From what I have now heard about the ongoings at the studio, that may be a long shot. Still, I think it's worth the small effort and time it takes to write an email.

Always fun taking a look at these threads since you get such interesting personalities but the best part are those tiny tidbits of info you take up reading . Should start an information thread or something in the off topic section

Doesn't exactly put me at ease, but...cheers.

And..."a day full of adventures".
You've not accidentally created a rift to the Xen dimension, have you?

So can someone give straight info?
Is there any confirmed news about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?

STALKER 2 development was scrapped two years ago and the development team disbanded. GSC still has the rights to the STALKER brand, but is not developing a sequel, nor has given anyone else permission to do so.
