Daavid - you know - with just a few of the hard cases I know of, wecould probably go into the Zone and make it a proitable enterprise - forget the labs and Item 62 - just get the Svarog detectors and some decent suits, and we'd be rockin.

With the health artifacts, and the other stuff, even if we had to bootstrap oursellves, the way Major D has to in the game, it'd be hard, probably lose a lot of the first fifty or so - but it would be worth it if we could get the healer artifacts out and get them to the VA. Screw the VA for a bunch of beureucrats - we'd find a way to grw around it and get it to the vets and the other folks who need it without the fatcats making a ton of money off them.

That would be worth it. Be worth dying for that dream, worth as much as anything I've ever risked my life for before. I mean, really, the Zone is just not that scary, man.
Maybe I've got a different definition of scary. At least there's no mortars or artillery. THAT's scary. I suppose the dogs - especially the pseudodogs, might count as a sort of IED analog..but at least they warn you, you know?

and the anomalies are like minefields, but with a Svarog, they are cool. Once I get a Svarog, I like to lure mutants INTO anomalies, just for the Lulz, you know/ dogpacks chasing me into the burnt farmstead is a good laugh, had a blood sucker chase me in there one time, too. That had me chuckling all day. Had some boars and fleshes and dogs chase me up into the attic where the fine tools are kept, over by Jupiter - that was hilarious!

In real life, packs of dogs, wild boars would be very deadly, especially the wild boars, which run very fast and can weigh up to 100kg. They are way more dangerous than dogs or even wolves. Any pack of animals would be extremely dangerous and if you were caught in the open, that could mean the end of you, especially if you wounded them enough to make them angry. Basically, living in areas with decent cover would be good, but not in places like Garbage, Marshes or Jupiter.

Also, having stuff like a thermo visor or night vision would prove extremely useful at night, where you could see everything well ahead of you. Hunting at night could be even safer than during the day, because of that and with a good crossbows or longbows, you could pick out (bad) stalkers just like that and make decent cash. Better yet, with a nice Vintorez... That would get you the advantage of cover and surprise. Unless they had the same stuff though.

In real life, dogs and boars don't just spawn out of thin air - they have a life cycle. kill the breeders, kill the pups, burn out the dens and the nests - don't fight them one-by one. Thats a losing game.

If you gotta do that - play that game with heavy cartridge - either the 12ga sabot roud or the the 7.62x54R - those weapons have take down wild bor of 200 ,g - did I do the math right - 750 lbs is what I recall reading - three 12 ga slugs for a 500 lb boar near the New Mexico border, and two of the 7.62x54 for a 750 lb Siberian boar.

For the dogs and pseudo dogs, 5.54 and 5.56 should be fine, but the Geneva Convention isn't in effect here- use hollowpoints, not FMJ, fer chrissakes! The AP rounds for human targets, yes, but hollowpoints for the mutants would make a lot more sense.

Crossbows and longbows? <Snort> I'm going to be polite, and gently enquire, how much field experience have you had with these? Have you done many sucessful hunts with them? or are you a range archer? or - as is often the case with folks who make suggestions like this, you've read a lot about them and seen them in movies and TV, but never actually strung a bow or cocked a bolt? Just asking? I used to do a lot of bow-hunting, and I've hunted with a recurve I made myself from Osage Orange - the way the Keuka people made them before the Europeans came to America. There's a reason my ancestors dropped the bows like a hot rock and switched to guns as fast as they could, bro.

Thing about dogpacks - and the game models this pretty good - they are territorial. Unless they are hunting and desperate, if you stay out of their den area, they will leave you alone. If they come after you and you can't run, get you back to a wall or something solif. Dogs like running, slashing attacks, and they don't like to see the prey's eyes. I put my back to a wall or a eock, and it makes life a lot easier

I've heard bows and crossbows have a rather limited range, but are pretty powerful in their ranges. I have no idea if they can kill boars or not though.

P.S.: Forget about animal territoriality. The zone is a very hostile and unpredictable place and they are most likely always migrating, hunting for food. The only way to survive is t to avoid them as much as possible.

I think with the right kind of army, granade, and with right kind of anti-radioation equippment might be good to make some NOISE in the zone

But i also think the be lonesome hunter-killer in the zone is above all impossible

Which zone?
The zone of Misery Mod?
The Zone of the Vanilla game?

Misery Mod Answer:No. I would wander into the exclusion zone and be stopped by bandits who would remove my teeth and stick them in a jar. The bandits would then throw me of of the bridge in Zaton into my death.

Vanilla: No, I Would walk to the Skadovsk and talk to beard about finding the Artifact Job and then be killed by Tuna and his gang if I managed to get the artifact without dying from Radiation.

The zone is something to be seen from the monitor of a computer rather than the eyes of a person who was crazy enough to enter in the first place :/
