S.t.a.l.k.e.r Future locations!

Hi guys, I know there's a lot of speculation going on about what S.t.a.l.k.e.r 2 would be like. But until that happens here's some thoughts I put into where they could let the game play off, if it wasn't going to be in the zone of alienation.

Now I know it will still be there, after all this is S.t.a.l.k.e.r and it all started with chernobyl. But these locations of mine are just ideal if you wanted to add more. Hell if I can get my hand on the SDK of s.t.a.l.k.e.r I'll try and built these myself. I know a bit about creating maps. (Just a thought)

Anybody know of some more Ukrainian locations that'll suit? I heard of some Nuclear submarine abandoned in the northcoast somewhere. It was apparently a goverment owned clean up facility that is still standing still? A couple of the submarines still have their nuclear fuel and engines in their hull, doesn't that just BEG for a good story? Anyone know of this place?

Also what about the duga-3 antennas? Come on the woodpecker was heard world wide!

Excuse the bump, but it's a legitimate point. With three games set in and around the Chernobyl NPP, with each game revisiting certain locations more than once, how many more locations do you think GSC can utilise before the landscape becomes too familiar? Or perhaps they might run out of room, given that SoC's map covered almost the entire area?

Or, to take another direction, do you think that GSC should effectively redesign the Zone and make a fresh start with its new engine?

Personally I hope they keep certain memorable areas from the original games, but I also hope that we don't cover too much familiar territory. The brilliant thing about the Zone is that it's alive, and is constantly (so we're told) shifting. This could lead to new areas of the Zone that have come about because it's grown or even moved.

Not much discussion in this thread, but anyway...
I live in Bulgaria and this is Kremikovtzi - huge metal processing plant, now abandoned. I think a lot of inspiration can be found in the site below, if there will be some similar locations in s.t.a.l.k.e.r. 2

Some-one on another thread once mentioned a Japanese Stalker based on what happened there recently,Have they still got there exclusion zone in place I wonder, I think I'll google it later.
EDIT: At least it would give the opportunity for different scenery,Weather(not so much), and because of the local geography the chance to maybe add Far-Cry 1 style swimming and the sorts of mutated predators that can be produced from the indigenent local wildlife, 1 example could be a shark mutant(fast swimming ripper type). Alright it would no longer be the stalker we know but an evolved descendant of it.

I don't know about you guys, but for me the thing that really makes the difference is the Soviet style environment. I don't think a post-apocalyptic environment in any non-Soviet place of the world would make me love the game so much.

I have to agree. While the original Zone in "Roadside Picnic" was in Canada, the whole Cold War-era Soviet Union thing really adds to the atmosphere. There's just something about the propaganda, paranoia, and secrecy of that time and place that contributes a lot to the setting.

People talk about the cold war effect and I agree but christ if any-one could be harbouring ill feelings and thoughts of revenge who more so than the Japanese. Two cities nuked, a country occupied by enemy forces for decades. A culture corrupted by western influence, Be honest it sucks for them, So hidden malicous agendas and projects aimed at the removal of the enemy occupiers and there destruction are no less real possibilities than any other scenario you can think of. Stuff like seen in Far cry one would be seen with much more.

For a mod on the subject, Crysis would have the right environment to simulate the Japanese islands. And having seen recent attempts at the zone in that engine, I myself think it cant capture the feel we get with what we have now but could create a great similar scenario under the conditions mentioned here.

It seems a shame that everyone is so willing to kill the idea out of hand.
