Sigerous Mod (SGM) general discussion

Someone suggested that such a thread be made, and so here it is. Now I won't have to pester the English translators with unrelated questions.

So, here we are. Feel free to post your thoughts on the mod and any issues you come across.

(Still trying to get "The Assistant Technician" achievement)

I downloaded the 1.4.5 and couldn't get the 'set up' to work.

So I downloaded 1.5 and the same thing happens. I double click on the icon for the 'start up' and it just does nothing. Well, something is running - there is a block at the foot of the screen with a very accented word in it, but there is no window attached to it. I try to close it after a wait and get the 'Program not Responding' window.

How do I deconstruct that 'set up' thing and get at the gamedata folder?

The same thing happened to me, just click on it twice and wait. It takes a while.

Servalion,

Thanks for the topic.

Some value changes have been made in the v1.5 Russian text files that explain somewhat the achievements.

> Condition - Get 220 headshot kills, and kill one Faction commander.

Changed to 300 and 1 commander.

> "Great Marauder" - 40% bonus cash looted from all bodies.
> Condition - Loot 40,000 RU from corpses.

Changed to 10,000.

> "The Assistant Technician" - Cheaper repairs and upgrade prices.
> Condition - Bring more than 60 boxes of repair materials to techs

Changed to 80. (I suspect that it's 80 per tech.)

I think that these changes apply to v1.4.5 also. They just got behind in their edits.

Use Universal Extractor. Works fine with all *exe installers and stalker patches.

I finally figured it. Seems to be running okay.

Main problem is the 'read me' that tells you what to expect in the way of changes and new stuff.

I don't have a clue about reading Cyrillic script.

I discovered land mines in the hardest way.

And the bandits seem to have made a base at the ranger station and get very upset if you go in there - one guy in an exo takes more damage than a couple of pseudogiants before he drops (and I had help from a blowout at the time, too) - what the hell is he made of? - and did I mess anything up by killing him?

I'd tell you his name, but that's in bloody Cyrillic, too.

Half of the stuff I've looted I can't put a name or use to - I have no idea what any of it is as it is all 'added in' and all the descriptions are in Cyrillic.

I snagged an artifact for a scientist guy. Looked like it had some serious abilities. I assumed the bottom bit was radiation. When I handed it over he said it wasn't radioactive. Did I give away something I shouldn't have?

Every now and then I get a sound like the old stash-message sound from SoC. A bunch of Cyrillic appears on screen and I'm left to wonder what the hell that was all about.

There is a toolbox thing on Skadovsk next to the actor's main stash there. Anything I put in it vanishes. Is this a garbage-disposal unit?

Does anyone in Zaton sell 9x39 ammo? Owl usually does, but not in Sigerous apparently.

And the guy who sells you software to read looted PDAs, what is all that stuff he has for sale? Don't recognise any of it and all the descriptions, yep you got it, in Cyrillic.

There are two stashes
One is your personal stash, the other is indeed a garbage disposal locker

Ok, perhaps I should alert the English Translation guys about these changes.

And something feels off about the Assistant Technician change. I would think that 80+ to all 3 techs simultaneously would be preposterous as a requirement (I've yet to get there, but now I have all the strongest guns, and enough RU to upgrade them all fully. Also just found the last upgrade kit.) Perhaps 80 to one is enough. I didn't get that high with Cardan, but he's close. I'll go see what happens.

EDIT: Ok, I figured it out. The achievement unlocked once I got 80+ pieces to Cardan. Apparently, there was additional dialogue, saying I gave him a toolkit, and that he'd give me an additional discount. So basically, 80+ to one Technician to get the achievement, and the tech you did it with will give an additional discount on top of that. Also, the discount compared to before is HUGE.

There's an option in the Bonus Options menu to deactivate all mines (they'll still be on the map but they won't detonate until shot). Of course, if you can't read what's what.........go get the english translation Its in a similarly named thread in this forum section.

That guy you're talking about is Chapaev, SGM Faction commander of the bandits. With him dead, you can't join them. Not really an issue if you hadn't been planning on it.

Many new little items are all over the place. Many of them are new various food items. The blue bandages are superior ones, with better blood stopping effect and cures a little radiation. The large golden bottles are beer, and are a little less than vodka in both weight and effectiveness.

SGM adds over 100 new stashes to be found in containers resembling backpacks, small green crates, or toolkits all over the 3 zones (including at least 7 in the Underground, haven't made it to X8 yet) There's actually a new achievement for finding 90 of them. Many new items, including Outfit/Weapon repair kits, Grenade kits, and Kevlar Plates, can only be found through these, so look everywhere.

That artifact you speak of is a quest item he wants. I don't know if another can be gotten. It is indeed +2 Radioactive, perhaps the scientist forgot he was wearing an Ecolog suit and was being a ditz. Its quite nice though, I wonder if there's a way to bypass the guy and keep it? Speaking of artifacts, there's like 3 or 4 more new Super-Artifacts in SGM that mostly don't come until much later. You'll find a few of another example later in Zaton and Yanov.

The "Garbage-Disposal" unit spoke of is described at one point as being a charity box. Leave items inside, and soon enough, other stalkers take the items, and leave some money behind. Its not usually enough money to be worth it however, or so I've seen.

Can't recall if Owl dishes out the 9x39s this time around. The guy who sells you the decryption data stuff is quite handy - he's a new kind of trader, found in Skadovsk, Yanov, and even Pripyat, as well as in each of the 4 faction bases. The first 3 all have separate options to purchase new specialized binoculars, all undoubtedly better than the standard ones. Each one is mostly there for the special new SGM weapons they sell. Most have some guns and/or a special suit/armor. You place your order for a somewhat high fee, and then said order appears for sale among their wares to purchase. These guns and suits are certainly the best for their respective areas, but are by no means cheap. Be prepared to be blowing 100,000 RU on each by Pripyat.

Aside from those, they all sell the same general stuff

Green-looking crates - Repair kits for Outfits and Weapons. Each one will repair what you have equipped to full, and leave a far weaker kit afterwards that can repair stuff a little bit before vanishing.

Red barrels/tanks/gas cans - Basically the explosive barrels, tanks, and gas cans you come across occasionally. These can be purchased and dropped at will for strategic bombing. Beware though, its not like previous Stalker games - if you drop the can and shoot it to blow up others, they may still know you're to blame.

Remote-looking thingy - C4. Rather heavy weighing in at 5kg, but its the strongest boom you'll get, as strong as at least 2 RPG rockets. Enough to kill most faction commanders. The radius is big too. When you set this off, be somewhere ELSE. Use it to place the bomb (be sure about it, the bomb can't be picked back up). When you do, an item resembling a remote appears in the inventory by your ammo. Use the remote to detonate. The remote can be quick-keyed to the F1-4 slots.

Backpack looking bags - Personal Stashes. You can use these wherever you wish to have a place to put stuff out in the world, if you really need to. Just be sure to remember where it is.

Silver bar w/Green circle in the middle: "Personal Marker". Will leave its mark on the PDA wherever its placed. Best used with the Personal Stashes.

Black iPod - ........er....its a Black iPod. A solid assortment of music tracks to listen to if you're tired of the regular zone themes. 8 "Merry" tracks, 32 Club tracks, 14 "Soundtrack" tunes from various video games and movies, and 19 "WAS" tracks (seems to be all Ukrainian/Russian songs). There's also a Bonus section, as completing various missions also sometimes award a bonus track, even if you dont have the MP3 Player yet. So far mostly seems to be all Club music again. Russkies, go figure. *oontz oontz oontz oontz*

Grenade bags - VOG-25 & M203 Grenade containers. Each has 10 of said grenade. Is considered a separate ammo than the individual grenades, but can be used in nearly all launchers just the same. Oddly, the RG-6 still only takes the individual VOG-25s.

White Oxygen canister-looking thingy - "Psy-Complex". Medic NPCs also sell these, and are occasionally found on bodies. Doesn't seem to do much of anything. I think their purpose is broke. They are however needed for a Yanov mission later on if you want to join the Mercs.

Odd looking arm brace w/Blue readout - "Scanner extension". While expensive, this is the proper solution to your mine problem - This will detect and highlight mines on your PDA and minimap. Best of all, it works on the helipad minefield in Yanov. With this in your backpack, you'll never be caught off guard again. A Red version with improved range can be bought in Pripyat. (Oddly, the description claims it picks up PDAs, but does no such thing.)

Ring-looking thing - A timer. Can use this to time yourself, doing whatever. Not sure why one would need this.

Various other Blue-looking things - Detector batteries of varying strengths. SGM intended to add realism by requiring you to get new batteries for your artifact detector here and there. By default, the feature seems to be turned off. Thus, detectors still work forever, leaving these batteries useless. Bonus options allows to turn this feature on, for added challenge.

Aaaaand, I think thats it for now. Hope that all helped quite a bit. But really, go get the proper english translation and render all of what I just said moot

If you mean Racemate's translation, I've already got it installed. But there are still lots of untranslated things. Speaking to people and doing jobs, like getting all the components for Nitro from the cement factory, is just a guessing game as to whether you're choosing the right dialogue options or not.

If you mean the translation of the 'read me' it is a 'Google' translation and so makes less sense than if it had been translated into Mandarin Chinese. Plus there seems to be very little actual information in it.

I got a PURPLE medkit from an exo-zombified, but I have no idea what it can do or how it is different.

At the moment I seem to be stuck. I took a job to find a guy's lost weapon. First I went to Kopachi and got the PDA from the Monolith corpse. Then I reported back. Then I went to the cement factory, found another Monolith corpse, but it only had 30 rounds of 9x39ap on it. No information or PDA to give the next step. And the marker for the task is still there. What am I supposed to do?
