Well, since WW2 weapons are a rarity nowadays, it's pretty rational that there aren't any in the zone. At least it's better than having a shitload of them scattered around.

If you were a Stalker and decided to go into the zone, would you rather prefer to have WW2 guns or modern ones?

I don't know about these things. IMO, people would rather buy modern rifles than WW2 ones, unless they live on the farm and their grandparents kept the guns from war times. Tell me of one black market selling Mosins. They'd kill you if you asked them, lol.

I'd choose my $99 Mosin over a $400 Remington 700 any day. The average rookie stalker would not even have the luxury of that choice.

question to the gun enthusiasts here

People may take great care of an older Gun in perfect condition
but rarely do they have enough ammo for something older in
enough quantities and taken care of the same way. People
would be dictated in the Zone by what they could reload.

If I were to choose
Find a warehouse with a bunch of old guns rather than try and kill a man with a modern gun with bare hands
Plus a mosin or SVT can out range most things the military would be carrying except for teh snipers
