If you go out of the main camp in Yanov, there is a anomily that transports you back to the main ship of the previous map... I haven't found one from the first map to the second map yet... You have to mod your jump speed. I guess this is actually the "transporter" that Pilot uses to take you back and forth. Been looking all over for the one from the first map to the second and cannot find it. The Plateu anomily works with the same principal...

Thats very interesting. Can you post a screen shot of the exact location of the anomaly?

It's not anomaly - it's a level changer. Apparently from Jupiter to Zaton...

easy access for the devs . . . but they were too lazy to take them out when they were done.

maybe they left them there for modders to make use of.

still . . . its cool that they are there

There is an unmarked level-changer in Zaton. It is in the 'Ranger Station'.

Don't have a screenshot to put up, but there is a guide to it on the new ZSG site....

you can use the teleport function in the Zonegranter mod to drop into the LC on the map you are in with the following coordinates:

ZATON TO JUPITER
position = 467.30,55.52,12.90

ZATON TO PRIPYAT
position = 467.20,55.52,3.20

JUPITER TO ZATON
position = -7.12,14.48,154.08

JUPITER TO PRIPYAT
position = -16.32,14.48,142.78

JUPITER TO JUPITER UNDERGROUND
position = 460.00,46.06,-295.46

JUPITER UNDERGROUND TO PRIPYAT
position = 82.20,35.31,-222.36

PRIPYAT TO ZATON
position = 150.91,22.34,-287.92

PRIPYAT TO JUPITER
position = 139.08,22.34,-287.87

PRIPYAT TO LABX8
position = -78.03,-7.04,100.68

I really don't understand the point of this discussion as it should be clear that GSC discarded classic travelling through LCs and use Level Guides instead. All LCs in CoP use silent = 1, which means that no message box will pop up. And even if its set to 0, UI freezes and cursor shows up - exactly like in SoC/CS, but without the message box (it was obviously removed).

Why don't just use Level Guides and remove their conditions for travel dialog phrases?

Awesome.

It's like the multi-level changing zones found in CS (easiest to access is in Yantar).

The question is, though - will they work without modification (haven't tried myself, yet)?

If so, I'd say they qualifiy as general game secrets . . . stuff we've just happened to run across that the devs possibly forgot to remove.

Another example - in the original RUS release, there's one or two red health kits that are completely different from the normal health kits - they have a different description, and operate like the old-school health kits do . . . but they don't "stack" with the others. They could've been quest related, at some point, but the quests were removed - they could've been left overs from CS as CoP was being "built." Either way, I have yet to see them present in v1.6.02.

The alternate medkits are actually the 'script' medkits given to wounded Stalkers. It seems there's a glitch that makes NPC's sometimes sell them (much like the guitar, harmonica & PDA).

I have 6 of them and I'm using the Russian Version 1.6.02
They are the same orange color as the regular Medkits and
the written description is the same but they are missing the
additional symbols and legend. They do also cost slightly less.
The only way to tell the difference is when an NPC has them in
their Inventory and you hover your pointer over it to see that the
pop-up description box is minus the small picture boxes at the bottom.
Also as mentioned they don't stack with the other Medkits in your Inventory.

we were trying to figure this out ages ago, i can say that mine didn't come from buying them from NPC's didn't ever do that. i do help the wounded and have no idea otherwise where they came from.

if i 'give a medkit', does a script spawn an old school one for the wounded guy or does he just get health back? i don't really understand how an old one comes about!

Those odd medkits, when you check with a trader, are worth twice the price of the standard red medkit.

This might be useful if there were lots of them.

The thought has crossed my mind that my Russian version of the Game
using the English translation pack might have made both descriptions
of the two different types of Orange Medkits the same if others find
them written differently in the English version. In my Game the big
difference is I can sell an ordinary Medkit for 375 rubles while the
Medkit missing the symbols will sell for less at 300 rubles. I'm not
sure where I got my first one but once I realized the difference I
always check NPC's Inventory and I've managed to buy 5 more.

Ordinary Medkit with symbols:

Rare NPC Medkit without symbols:

More than anything this reminds me of the 3 pieces of inedible Bread
also known as Borov's Bread from his Dark Valley Safe in SoC.

I was in the Backwater and decided to go back up the hill where the
Game starts and see if anyone was hanging around up there. I got
4 contacts on my Mini-Map but I could also see some white dots of
dead bodies. I found 2 dead Bandits and 1 dead Loner with 4 Loners
alive including two Squad Leaders. I went up to talk to Anton Beast:
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/5230/ab1c.jpg

As usual the first thing I usually do is check the Trade Inventory.
To my surprise there was not 1 but 2 of the rare orange Medkits:
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/7210/ab2dm.jpg

I bought them both. It must be related to the dead bodies for
him to have 2 of them on him of which I have never seen before:
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/483/ab3.jpg

As you can see they do not stack with the other orange Medkits:

for buying Guitars, Harmonicas & PDAs.
Only when NPCs come out of weapons
mode after combat or Mutant hunts.

The medkits don't appear like instruments, which can only be bought if the npc's are alerted (killed everyone, but still walking in alerted state when looting corpses). One way to easily make npc's go into alerted mode is to shoot a missile at Skadowsk or Yanov. That should get a few squads to come and stand spooked near the entrance.

Leave the poor Skadovsk alone. It already looks like someone fired a missile at it - Exocet at a guess - and it probably couldn't take another.

Anyways, where you getting missiles from in the goddamn Zone?

I thought they might have left one shot in the huge gauss prototype so that you could fire it, but are you saying the SAM base actually had some live stuff lying around? And you McGyvered a launch system using wooden crates, small blue tins, medkits and a guitar?

If it is a 'Surface-to-Air', as a SAM base would normally stock, you're going to have to be very close when you fire it. Under the bows really.

Thassa a real bad idea for the one firing it. Not so bad for Skadovsk as they don't use that end anyway.

Can I watch?

You can get some misslies and a luncher form the SAM site. Then there are stashes in Pripyat, Underground Jupiter, etc. The best way to get them is to buy them from Sych after doing the Veles mission and some storyline progression.

I've spent a small fortune buying over 200 OG-7V Warheads from Owl:

Three Mile Island~

In SoC & CS you never came across large quantities of OG-7V.
In CoP they are great for quickly knocking out Burers, Chimeras
and Pseudogiants too. I just wanted to stock up first and then use.

I just discovered a Secret Camp in Zaton that is so well hidden
that you can't detect Stalkers there in the usual places you go and
if you get the Stalkers there to take you anywhere they are unable
to repeat it's name but they always return back to the Secret Camp.
This was at night so I suspect it might not be used in the daytime.
When the Stalkers are unable to repeat the name where they
are going back...do not agree to go with them. It's Limbo:

I don't know if anyone else has tried it but i recently found that you don't need detectors to see compases.

There's a large swamp/lake area in northern Zaton that seems suspiciously empty. Haven't found anything special there yet, though.

Any secret stuff?

Here's the deal about CoP to find those secret camps. There are two
types of locations. The most common ones are those locations that you
can walk up to any squad leader and ask for fast-travel to specific locations
that every squad leader will offer you all the same choices. Those don't help.

To get to the rare and unusual locations, a few of them secret in the sense
that unless you blunder upon them, you had no idea that squads would
hang out there, you have to do one of two things. First the easiest is to
be at the Skadovsk or Yanov Station early in the morning at 8am when
everyone departs. Quickly run to each squad leader and ask them where
they are going. 80 to 90% of the time, they are the usual locations that
they offer you at any time. Memorize those so you know to exclude them.
This is when they offer the rare ones that you never get in the Menu ones.
Go to each one, learn their names, seek out those locations by walking.

The other time is when you randomly come upon a squad traveling to a
specific location and you ask them where they are going and they tell you.
Be sure not to ask the standard ones but to pay attention for them to say
a location you are not familiar with. This is how you find the rare & secret.
