Just finished Clear Sky and saw the ending cinematic. Definitely a cool cinematic, though the last battle wasn't good at all.

This got me to thinking, how can Clear Sky be set one year before the events of SoC? Strelok and apparently most all of the fighters, including Scar, were hit by some kind of emission when you disabled his psy-protection, or that's the impression that I got. Did they really keep Strelok for an entire year before putting him on the death truck, or am I missing something?

Overall a pretty good game, but I think SoC was better. Needed more underground areas and more alone time.

Yeah, they brainwashed him for a whole year, but how his henchmen survived the blast is a mystery. The zone does different things to different people. Monolith are completely immune to brainscorcher and they are pretty intellectual beings. Lot's of question marks are to be answered and yeah SoC was more fullfilling story and atmosphere wise, not just some countryside levels you get to explore. Those urban building levels were all such a beauty. The real feel of Chornobyl. Let's hope modders will recover classic levels that made SoC so unforgettable.

Hi,
I finished stalker CS the third time on master and I think that the storyline is as follows (that is just the simple version):

1. Scar has to kill Strelok because according to Lebedev, he is a risk to the zone (ZONE = is actually the doing of an organization which name I can’t remember, but u meet them in one of the endings at Stalker SOC).

2. Scar tries to kill Strelok and the PDA Strelok has with him in SOC, is actually Scar's (with the objective to kill Strelok = himself).

3. As you can see in the ending, there are a lot of dead stalkers lying around. The only one alive is Strelok, the only one still alive after the change of the zone and the fall off the truck.
4. After a while (time is relative because it is the ZONE and it’s doing all the crazy stuff) Strelok gets out of the NPP(by truck) and ends up being a Stalker with no memory.

The Time Span you are missing = the time Scar arrives until he finishes Strelok in CS (at least he thinks so) + the time you spend as Strelok in the Zone in SOC. That makes it around a year, give or take.

But here is the problem in the Story….

In CS, when you go to the professor in Yantar, Strelok already has the device that allows him to get passed the Brain Scorcher (this is why you go through all the trouble by going through Limansk, because you don’t have that prototype), but in SOC you first have to get Info about the Brain Scorcher to create the prototype, which is strange because CS is before SOC and Strelok would have to get the info twice for the same problem. At least the professor should have stored the info about the psy emissions somewhere.

If the professor already has a prototype why would he need Strelok in SOC to gather more info and shut down the device in the Yantar Facility again? Well, a possible answer would be that the Zone changed and therefore the psy emissions did too. I don’t really think that this would be a reasonable solution but it is one.

I personally think that the ending could be more connected to SOC and that the overall story could be better, longer and multiple solutions (like SOC) because it does not have to end to fit the beginning of SOC at all, it’s just one possibility, isn’t it?

However, I like Stalker, be it SOC or CS, for what it really is: Exploring the Zone, meeting different folks, gathering money to get better equipment, enjoying the scenery, do some favor’s & jobs and exploring the Zone (did I mention that before?). Try to become the best stalker by killing as many mutants and bandits as possible (if you’re not a bandit yourself). The possibilities to get to the end are almost infinite. Every time you do it differently and every time you explore more and learn more.

The respond to your question about the underground and more ‘alone time’, I think the coolest thing would be to actually go to the river near the NPP. We haven’t seen water levels in Stalker yet and a new area like a city by the river would be perfect (the small shit-stream in Limansk is not counted as a river). You see the river and on the NE of the Map. There are some buildings to explore and an area no one has ever entered (monolith as an exception maybe).

I would also love to have a bigger variety of artifacts (btw. I really like the way you have to find them in CS) with new abilities. The most important thing I really miss is this feeling of an uncertain future and some kind of fear from the Monolith faction. In SOC, I really thought that they were special. But in CS they fell like Bandits. No special features, just like the other scum wandering around the zone, trying to make a living (boooooring).

My Conclusion, the Game is worth playing many times, like SOC. Explore, Explore, Explore and try to get as many different settings as possible. And of course; wait for a new Stalker.

PS: To all the folks out there complaining about the bugs, I never had a single issue with the game and even if others had, no Software is perfect and it will never be. I know that there were some major bugs but that’s how it is. That’s the human part of us. There will always be a bug for one configuration. And I think GSC did a good job with all the updates. Of course customers can only complain, but be happy; there are companies (I won’t mention names) that don’t even care about updates.

Greetings Vaan

They aren't dead. They all are connected to the devices and are being brainwashed. It took one year to do it because the zone changed drastically in the first game and faction migrations couldn't happen overnight either so a year is a logical statement.

Proper, the cinema was looking through the eyes of Scar lying on a table being brainwashed. If you look around you'll see that everyone is being brainwashed by the monitors. Remember, the Zone and emissions are controlled by C-Consciousness. It can affect anyone anyway it wants. They are gods almost.

Yeah, probaly so. But the zone gives gifts to certain people so I guess there is more to it than C-Con. Also Strelok puts C-con to rest so the 3rd game will have to rely on the zone as the main anagonist.

C-con and Monolith faction is the same thing, in my opinion. Maybe it will be resurrected, who knows?
