HELP - Crash at the same geographic point (using mods)

I use the 1.0005 Steam version of the game, with AMK/complete ( and compatibility patch), AMK retranslated, SWO 3.1.1, Absolute textures, Shaders MAX and Lurk animations+HUD.

Everytime I approach the Freedom base at the Army Wharehouses, the game crashes.
Here's the few last lines of what the engine log in the shared documents folder gives me:

* Saving spawns...
* Saving objects...
* 20832 objects are successfully saved
* Game Nope_quicksave.sav is successfully saved to file 'c:\documents and settings\all users\documents\stalker-shoc\savedgames\nope_quicksave.sav'

[16-9] get_xml_name for[maingame_pda_msg.xml] returns [maingame_pda_msg.xml]
~ ERROR: can't detach independant object. entity[wpn_l8532027:32027], parent[wpn_l8532027:32027], section[wpn_l85]
stack trace:

[edit]

Apparently the game crashes at the same moment but it's never the same error. Even a full reinstall didn't solve the problem. I guess my save is corrupt in some way... Here's the log, idk what it means though.

FATAL ERROR

[error]Function : invalid_parameter_handler
[error]File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xrCore\xrDebugNew.cpp

Also don't hesitate to tell me I should post in another (and more appropriate) section of the forum. I don't bite.

My guess is that some object has bad client (online) info. The game might be attempting to reference an aspect or attribute of the object and failing at a low level, so there's no useful error info beyond "stack trace".

It could be a corrupted game, possibly related to the merge of such complex mods like AMK and Complete, or some unusual combination with an animation or HUD feature.

Since it is a geographic crash involving the Freedom base, you might just avoid the area. If you had some debugging tools, you could attempt to scan the area after determining the perimeter of the crash, and then simply switch the problematic object (say, Skinflint has a bad item in inventory) offline, or "release" it.

Ironically, the recent versions of the Zone Reclamation Project have some tools to support this debugging, but it's usually not the ZRP-based game that needs this kind of help. You can probe the boundaries of the crash and note the coordinates then triangulate on the approximate center of the crash area -- it will usually be a circle of CTD about 125 meters in radius (assuming default switch_distance of 150 meters).

This can vary if the switch online is a camp and the problem is with one of the NPC members, as they can be located at various locations about the camp. But even then you can simply iterate over the NPCs/objects in the area and remove them to prove that one of these entities is the source of the crash.

Yes, this is more appropriate a thread for the mod discussion section. (I do bite. ) But I don't know if you could get any real help with your modded game unless it is a specific mod and there's a support thread for it, and often not even then.

Welcome to the forum, anyway.

I'll move the thread to mod discussion, once KR4K40 has a chance to see this warning.

Acknowledged. Saw the warning.
Anyway, I tried locating a point of origin but apparently a whole zone of the army warehouses is glitched in some way. I'd like to learn more about thoses debug tools, because I have no experience whatsoever with coding/debuging or anything related.

Army Warehouses has issues with being "heavy". As a test, you might try reducing your memory load by lowering your texture quality or using static lighting to see if that helps any.

You can use the process of elimination. Try removing some of the added mods to see if the problem goes away. It might be an animation issue, for example.

If the general zone of trouble is around the Freedom base, I'd start with the possibility that one of the guys there is glitched and maybe moving around.

You can download and study the scripts in the latest ZRP, and possibly incorporate some of the testing functionality into your own mod. Start with scripts\ui_main_menu.script to see how the new dialogs are created and displayed. You can also see how some debug functions are performed without any dialogs; check the main_menu:OnKeyboard() routine at the bottom of the file.
