Shadow of Chernobyl Crashes

Just installed a nvidia GTX560TI graphics card and installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl in order to replay, but the game crashes a lot.

sometimes it will just freeze, sometimes the screen will go yellow, sometimes the game will just close down with no errors. I see some other posts that are similar here and wonder if anyone has come up with a solution as yet.

Ive trued reducing graphics settings - no joy
ive tried running as admin - no joy
ice tried running in compatability mode - no joy

highly frustrating.

Looking at what drivers there are for your card and rollback to an older one to try with that.
As long as your sure the problem is since the card was added. The Stalker games sometimes have issues with the latest drivers.

Thanks, Ill give that a try tonight when I get home.

I guess with the game being so old though they are not actively working on getting this game to run on newer drivers?

I must admit I have not played this game for sometime, it is a windows 7 machine unless it cannot handle the OS.

New Graphics - 2007 Game

I had issues in a similar way, just with an ATI card. Bought the Sapphire HD 6990 card and got the latest drivers.. and the game played with maybe 10 - 15 fps. Rolled back to a previous version, and the issue was fixed. It just happens sometimes, and with some games. Roll backs usually always fix this. Otherwise, uninstall the drivers, unplug the card and restart the system wait for it all to load up after you've signed in, shut down and re-install the card, earlier drivers.

Had to do that once myself.

I went back to the 285.62 drivers which are two behind the current drivers and whilst the yellow screen stopped occurring the game still freezes and or the FPS drops to choppy levels, I originally tried this on maximum and then high but still no joy.

When you go in the nvidia information by rightclicking and going into the context menu and look at compatible games it shows stalker as excellent but recommends static lighting and no AA so I turned all that off. Still no joy. I may try the 280.26 drivers from August 2011
