Meet the Doctor - XR_3DA.exe CTD

I just got the quest to meet the Doctor in Streloks hideout. However, when I try to enter the underground it *always* CTD. I've had a relativly bug-free experience so far, but this is incredibly infuriating since I'm under the impression that it's a farily important mission.

Anyway, I'm running Vista 64-bit, and I'm playing the game through Steam. The full crash description is

XR_3DA.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl\bin\XR_3DA.exe" at 0023:00452118, CKinematicsAnimated::ID_Cycle_Safe()+8 byte(s)

I've tried reinstalling, rewriting the XR_3DA file with a hotfix to increase memory limit, disabling dynamic shadows, running it in XP compability mode, practically any fix I could find related to this problem.

I have no mods installed and I'm under patch 1.0005.

ANY help would be greatly appriciated!

What you need to post is the end of the crash log, starting at 'FATAL' and down to 'Stack Trace', which can be found in the Vista equivalent of Shared Documents/StalkerSHOC on XP.

I have never seen this type of crash before, so i´m probably not going to be able to be too helpful, but... the only hit on part of the error ( IR_OnKeyboardHold() ) is off a russian forum ( http://www.amk-team.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=10339&st=160 ) ...

What i understand is that it´s some kind of bind-camera command... you wouldn´t happen to have chasecam enabled now would you?

If not... you´ll have to wait a bit for some qualified assistance.

Oh, the "too many imap textures "fatal"" is not the cause. You can ignore that, it´s normal and by no means a "fatal error"...

Well, that's a shame. I'm not really sure what "chase cam" is, but I don't use anything like it.

At any rate, it doesn't seem like I'm getting past this bug anytime soon. Would anyone know wiki of sorts with console commands and whatnot? Figured I could set the quest as "done" in the console, and maybe check out any eventual story on youtube or something.

Have you been trying things in the console?

You really need to speak to Doctor. Did you try going into the underground at both ends?

By chasecam i meant 3.person view.

I never did much other than the frequent "vid_restart" through the console, so i´m pretty much clueless...

Wonder if the console entry: CConsole::IR_OnKeyboardRelease() would do anything? With or without so much text before the OnKeyboard... -thing.

If you ally yourself with google translate, you might find a decent amount of console commands and what they do, in the Russian AMK forums. ( Linked to it in my previous post )

Wow. Weird errors.

You might have a corrupt save, or a corrupt level. You are running the Steam version but you didn't mention if you had verified STALKER's game cache. Normally I wouldn't expect that there'd be a problem if you had already been there earlier, but there are changes based on the point of progress in your gameplay.

You can install the Zone Reclamation Project, load a save in the Agroprom and then select the Army Warehouses chapter in the ZRP TZIO Teleport dialog (Esc T). That will advance the story beyond the Doctor visit. (You won't teleport anywhere unless you are in the Cordon.) Read your PDA entries to get caught up on what happened.

Also: Dawnrazor's Zone Survival Guide can tell you what lies beneath, buried beyond your ken and your "can":

Thanks for the replies! I already tried verifying my game chace, and entering through the other entrance did nothing.

I didn't find any console commands, but I DID find out that you can either glitch the door open, or toss grenades into a windows and by doing so launch the decoder towards you, thereby skipping the need for the doctor. It's not the most elegant solution, but it'll do fine.

But I'll check out the Zone Reclamation Project too, it might be more "safe".

Sucess!

I managed to launch the decoder to me with a little bit of help by a few grenades, picked it up and unlocked the door, no problem!
 
Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
