Failure after leaving Sidorovich

Hello. I have installed the game at leat 6-7 times today and yesterday, but haven't figured it out.

Problem: after the game loads, and Sidorovish holds it's monologue with you (i think i know it by heart by now because thats how many times i've heard it since i cant play the game), he opens the airlock door for you to leave. You open the door, climb up the first row of stairs, then (as i experienced about 3 years ago when i fist installed the game) it gets a bit laggy, the screen turns black, comes back to the game after 10 seconds, goes back to black screen, comes back again then finally crashes your game.

This happened every time i tried installing it, be it with or without patches, and i am very upset because i want to play it so badly.

Any sugestions that would help me?

Before i forget:
-i have installed the latest nvidia driver (285.62) - due to the fact that after crashing, Windows displayed a message stating that the display driver crashed and got back up running again.

Components:

Intel Core2Duo 3.2 Ghz (E5700)
Corsair Vengeace 4gib DDR3 RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8600GT Silent
Gigabyte G41M Motherboard
Windows 7 32-bit

(just in case these are necessary)

The only thing I can think of is to make sure you haven't forced AA in the NVIDIA control panel (AA is incompatible with SHOC).

well i dont think that your hardware is to blame,
you have the lateist drivers for it all? i.e.directX,.NET framework.

I think it could be the hardware. Consider:

>> the display driver crashed and got back up running again.

and this:

>> Nvidia Geforce 8600GT Silent

[Emphasis mine.] Silent implies fanless or very quiet operation, something not suited to intensive 3D graphics. STALKER is a game often used to stress test systems, although many of the stress-testers don't know that they are doing that.

First reduce your video settings before loading all.sav. Keep reducing them until the problem goes away. If you can't get it to work at the minimum settings, you will need a more capable video card to play this game.

Also read the Crash to Desktop sticky -- there might be other crash reasons to tackle as well.
