Direct X problem

Hi all, have just reloaded SHOC but having a problem, updated to V1.005 but when i change my settings in options and click start new game, screen goes black and i hear the background music stuttering away and game either takes ages to load or won't.I'm running windows 7 pro and have this problem even if i don't do anything with the settings and just use default,my computer is more than capable of running the game so not worried about that.I have run the game before with never a crash or anything. This is a brand new copy as my older one ended up with a bad scratch, could it be Direct X or could it be a faulty disc ?appreciate any ideas.

Hey Ivanov,here's some details
Windows 7 Pro 64bit Service Pack 1
Driver Version 280.26
Direct X Support 11
I run a Geforce GTX 560 Ti
However like i have said i have played this game before on my same system with no problems,so maybe it is a faulty disc ?

Just to be safe. Try this.

You should also make sure your video card's drivers are up-to-date as well.

Thanx for that,i tried it but got the message that direct x had determined that there was a newer or equivalent version of direct x already installed, also i check through the nvidia control panel and it says that i have the latest drivers, which i thought wouldn't be a worry as i had played shoc with the previous version of drivers, will probably try a couple more times, before deciding that it is a faulty disc as i think i had this problem a few years ago,one thing i did notice during the game installation was that the update to direct x never came up,the game simply just installed itself,no direct x,could this have been the problem ?,hey thanx for your time,

Try reinstalling the graphics driver. I've had DirectX problems before when I had a faulty driver install.

Start the installer in Safe Mode, select Custom Install and Clean Install. It should do a nice and clean installation of the graphics driver to remove conflicts.

Also might try out the latest Nvidia Beta drivers, they work well for me.

Further update, downloaded latest nvidia drivers,285.62,used the custom install and ticked perform clean installation box, this worked a treat and SHOC is now playing great, hmmm,do really need a new game .
