U guys can sleep in a field or run down building, but I'm staying at the local Best Western or at least Econo Lodge. I wonder if I get a free USA Today?

Sure , you could stay there , but wheres the fun in that ? Id rather get woken up by a bloodsucker trying to pry my brains through my nostrils . But seriously , id have a safe house to stay , then once in a while go for night adventure and check out the local fauna .

I would look for several buildings in the zone 3 stories or higher. At the top floor is where I would rest. Before going to sleep I would clear the building of any enemies. This way if something is going to attack me I know which way its coming from. Also I wonder if sleeping on the top floor of a building is a such good idea during the blowout?

If it withstood previous blowouts, it is a good bet that it will survive subsequent ones.

On the topic of coop sleep, it could be easily solved by making it so that it the screen goes black, and time passes instantaneously, but if both people are alternating sleep (you could choose whether or not you want to alternate sleep, or sleep at the same time, in which case you both get more sleep), then there is no chance of you being surprised.

more sleep ideas

So we will sleep *fade to black*............ wake up refreshed

Now we know that we have to balance realism with playability, so heres another idea for handling sleep, It's mainly cosmetic but if it was workable i believe it would be fun.

Dreams:
In order for sleep not to be a hassle and inspire boredom and frustration I am all in favour of it taking less then 30 seconds all up and hope it would be less then that.
If a small number of snapshots could be stored and then used to create a DREAM while your asleep this would make it interesting. Alter the way it looks to make it dreamlike, using footage from the stalkers last session. These dreams could also be cool if you, for instance dreamt of or were stimulated by whats happening in your immediate surroundings IE some nasty scavanger has found you asleep and is slavering it's hungry way towards you but your eyes are shut... your in the land of NOD... but you DREAM OF SLAVERING JAWS and wake up to combat with a set of teeth on legs! You could even drop an occasional clue in these dreams a glimps of an unexplored area or an NPC. So heres how I envision it, instead of a fade to black wake up taking perhaps 3 seconds and allways being the same, you have fade to black a very short "dream" of perhaps 5-10 seconds and then awaken to be groggy and slow for a short period of time.

So if the game needed a peroid of sleep that was longer then most would find enjoyable, this would act as elevator muzak and make time seem to pass faster for you as you have something that takes your attention off the wait. But if sleep was to be fast and easy I think this would be really fun! and wouldnt make it long enough to become tedious.

As an afterthought, what do ya think of the idea that you cant go ta sleep on que, ya need to be tired at least and have to "rest" a little while firstand be in a reletivly quiet area, then an option to sleep is presented. This is just a pop in the head idea that occured to me after writing the above, but imagine just wanting ta get some sleep but waking up cause of gunfire or rats in the walls LOL .... fade to black BAM! awake again with a message reading "You cant sleep it's to noisy here!" or "No matter how hard you try to get to sleep, you just cant! your either to excited or not tired enough!"

I will find some building with room that have only one door. Then put some box or barrel(it is possible to carry objects in stalker????)behind that door, then put some little things on that box/barrel and lie near that box/barrel. So if some "bad" creature would want to enter the room, that simple "alarm' near my head will make a mess and wake me up and i will kill that bastard wanting my precious brain.

"Is it really possible????"

hmmm........
