Two 'assassination' missions

I have started to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. again from the beginning and I'm having trouble completing two missions that I never tried to complete before.

One is regarding a 'rookie' stalker that Boris wants to disappear.

The other is to kill a man who claims to be Boris' sales representative.

I can find these two easy enough because they are marked on the map.

The problem is that when I talk to them, they don't say anything to identify themselves as the target I am looking for. That is fine, I can just follow the map but if I just kill them, other neutrals in the area become hostile.

How did you deal with these guys?

Get close to them then check the mini-map to see which one of them has the mission mark. Back away a bit to some cover and shoot him, then run away so the other stalkers don't attack you. In worst case you might have to kill the other stalkers there but it doesn't ruin anything, the biggest risk is getting killed yourself.

Completed

Well, my target was one of the three Stalkers hanging out at the bus stop near the Garbage.

They are so close together that I could not see which was my target.

Luckily a dog ran past and they all got up and drew their weapons.

I got as far away as I could and shot him. The other two became hostile and came after me, so I killed them too.

I still don't see why the guy doesn't have anything in his dialogue about being a sales rep or trying to sell you something. Marking a location on the map I understand, but marking a person doesn't make sense.

Anyway, upon returning from collecting the reward, there are three new Stalkers there.

Those 'assassination' jobs, as you call them, are actually just criminal 'hits' and taking them only serves to turn you into a murderer.

You are not forced in any way to accept those jobs and doing so simply labels you as someone willing to do the 'dirty work' of others for small recompense - none of those jobs have a reward commensurate with the task.

In SoC you are completely free to go your own way, so murder is not a necessity. You will have plenty of opportunity for killing throughout the storyline as you face actual enemies - no need to become a predator upon your own kind (loners).

Your enemies are Monolith, Mercenaries, Military, zombifieds and bandits. Sometimes there are even members of those factions who you will have no cause to kill.

Just because you have weapons doesn't necessarily mean you have to use them. Indiscriminate killing will quite often land you in trouble. There are tasks offered by some factions that will cause other factions to treat you as an enemy, and you may need something from them in the future, so just because the job is available is not good enough reason to take it.

A stalker must be an ethical human being, not a mass-murdering psychopath. You, as the 'actor', are the 'good guy' in the story. The job Sidorovich offers to kill the trader is basically the same as you going to one supermarket and being asked by the manager to murder the manager of another supermarket that has recently opened and is competing with him. You wouldn't do that - so why take Sid's job?
