DB Extractor

What do I do after getting the extractor that was shown in the How to Mod Stalker thread, the link is:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=207167&package_id=247933&release_id=563970

Well, I open the extractor and put in the location of my Stalker Folder into the database text box, then all these things pop up when I press update like ai anims config levels meshes etc, and things like meshesfood, meshesequipments and all that.

in the Hot to Mod Stalker thread (https://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&lang=en)
it says extract the files and such, but I can't extract anything, could anyone give me some instructions on how to do it?

You need to put a patch where you wnat files to be extracted. Simple.

what do you mean? After you open the 'extractor' application, or when you extract the tools?

In the extractor application, I can't extract anything, all I can do is put in a file location and press update and a bunch of stuff comes up and I can't press the 'extract selected' button.

You need to select the files you want to extract and the location you want to extract them to.

wow, ok, should have known that.

When I designated the extracted files to go to a specific folder then extract, I go to the folder I extracted it to, but its still empty...

Another question though, I am a bit curious because i've heard some people talking about the game data folder and such, but, what is the regular layout for the folders and such when you first install the game? I just get 3 folders; the regular S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl folder that has all the gamedata dbs and such, a bin, and a mod folder. Are they supposed to be different?

I suspect that you selected a folder in the list of files to extract. The database lists folders as zero-size files, so extracting them does not do anything.

The gamedata folder is usually placed in the same location as the gamedata.dbx files.

I don't have a gamedata folder though, main one, bin, and mods folder. All of the gamedatas are in the main.

You need to create it and extract the files you need into it.

Ok, thanks.

Now how do you actually extract them? Like I said before after I press the extract button, it doesn't show up in the folder I told it to go into, or any other folder. You said that I might have selected a folder in the list, but all of the ones i've tried to extract so far don't show up.

How hard would it be to add a history for the destination path and let you set/autodetect the path to the gamedata databases? This is a huge annoyance with both extractors, more so on Don Reba's version because the other extractor seems to keep a history for the database location (probably due to the choice of dialog boxes used).

Also, does it support non-retail databases?
