Preliminary second patch changelist:

Added console command 'sv_listmaps' to view the list of maps queue

Fixed bugs with player's character health in Multi-player

Removed standing dead bodies upon connecting to the game

Fixed inventory items placing system (Free for all and Team play modes)

Changed the enumeration of the game's version

Added the region detection to the auto-patch system

Fixed the crash in some localizations with using numpad

Fixed the crash upon making the screeshot to a saved game

Added the support for additional mouse buttons (now they can be binded to certain actions)

[new] Fixed crash on level "Military warehouse".

[new] Fixed NPC spawning on player's eyes. Then you are fighting "Freedom" on their base, there was NPC spawning near bridge.

[new] Decreased a-life reaction time. Now a-life will spawn new NPC more seldom. Also NPC movement speed decreased, then NPC walk on different level, then player.

The second patch will not erase your saves.

The third patch will, among other things, further improve the AI.
It is also possible that it will enable free play after game ending.

Problems with ATI's cards are being worked on.

- Added avoiding dynamic obstacles for NPCs.
- Added enemy priority function – fixes incorrect NPC reaction on player’s attack.
- Changed the second part of the enemy search algorithm – having lost the player, the NPCs will no longer be baffled.
- Added correct reaction on shots and loud sounds coming from the player (only) on close distances.

Render

- Dual core optimization.
- 10-15% FPS increase.

Gameplay

- Added new game mode – freeplay; activated after the end of the game.
- Added the possibility for any character will be able to go to any smart-terrain.
- Fixed the ultra-intense vibration of the grass.
- All monsters drag now the corpses correctly.

It strikes me that the part with enemies being able to climb ladders has misteriously been erased from the 3rd patches log. Why is this??
(Or is this included in 'Added the possibility for any character will be able to go to any smart-terrain.'?)

Additionally, can we expect the enemies to throw grenades at any point of the patching progress and will we be able to repair our weapons/armour?

Then what does 'smart terrain' mean, if not ladders? I'm baffled, for sure.

Don Reba, you say that you don't know about the grenade stuff, but whats about the armour/weapon rapairing issue?

Certainly, less than a month. As for respawn, there are several mods that fix it.

Fair and square, but some players like to play 'official', thus a respawn-patch from GSC would be more than appreciated.

Grenades. Ladders. More stuff to trade with neutral Stalkers. Repairing. ...

On my map, it has something about the Duty general and the guy at the main entrance says to go to the duty base and such, but if I walk int they shoot me! WTF? Is the blip on my map about the duty general a bunch of BS or is there a point to it?

The problem is, that you can only perform a number of tasks for each faction and have them as friends, but you cannot get a membership (Grouping - Duty, Grouping - Freedom), you are always a Loner. But there are rumors (follow the link you gave me, for example), that some people avoided that bug and had a Grouping. But for majority this bug exists. Pass this to developers, please. Hope this bug will be fixed.

Why would you lower the spawns, most want more spawns, more enemies to fight on the map. Hell we have been trying to increase the spawns without out success since we started modding this game, and the call for it is loud. Ive half assed increased the respawn rates and a few maps but nothing really worth talking about. What mods have increased spawn rates?


Could i suggest a new difficulty lvl. Call it Ultimate Stalker after master or something. In it have a extremely large increase in spawn rates and respawn timers. Master was already a sissy session....

I mean come on bring the carnage i want to sweat.

I'm thinking they are referring to the problem where you don't even have time to check the bodies after you clear out a camp of bandits and there are already another dozen coming after you. There are complaints about this all over the place.

STALKER isn't about slaughtering masses of enemies. if you want this kind of gameplay, mod it in. Don't hassle the developers to tailor their game to your desires when they're already flat chat fixing it for everyone else.

I'm running Windows Vista 32bit and I'm currently experiencing lag of death!

I'm merely walking or fighting in a certain location everything is fine, but all of a sudden if I look at certain places like buildings it starts to lag at an unbearable rate 1 - 5 FPS. Vid_Restart solves it for about a minute and then starts having a fit again.

My Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bit
P4 2.8GHz HT
2.5GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1650XT 256mb PCI-Express x16
160gb HDD SATA

Now basically in the installation it says my specs are fine but this odd slow-down/memory leak is getting unbearable! I've left the game dormant waiting for a god-damn PATCH that will fix this stupid problem.

I seriously think the Developers are working hard on the patch, but seriously hurry up because I really am impatient waiting for this.

It hs been previously stated that the dev's will be adjusting the respawn timing (especially in certain locations) of which seem out of place and are unecessary.

This does not mean you won't get your chance to wipe out an entire platoon, solo.

As other posters said, check out some of the mods available if you want tougher game play (or easier); what ever floats..

You obviously seem to know the majority of the issues regarding the lag, so all that's left to say is this thread is for the "Officially Accepted Bugs/Issues". Don has/will probably note your information when submitting it to the devs and move this post.

If you like, there's also a link to the "Unofficial Accepted Bugs/Issues" thread in my sig. This would be a great place to leave information, regarding bugs, that the devs and mods are currently aware of but shows the scale of affect.

It has been mentioned that save games will be compatable with future patches "providing" you are currently running/saving under the current 1.0001 version of the game. If you are currently using v1.000 of the game, then no save games will "not" be compatable

I can't save a game in the army warehouse level.

Every time I load it, the game crashes. All other levels work fine.

This sucks! I can't do any jobs for Freedom if I can't save in their home level.

Are you using the "quicksave"? About 3 times i have had this problem where somehow the savegame gets corrupted and will not reload. Are you running any mods?

Does it happen with the ol manual save game function as well?

Quest bugs

Are the developers going to be fixing all the quests that keep repeating themselves after you have finished them? For eg, clear the village of bloosuckers. You do the mission, then get the reward, then next time you enter the Army Warehouses you automatically get the quest again. There's also the "protect the stalkers at the garbage" mission which is restarting constantly, and when you walk in and out of the map it says, "go back for reward", then later (if you ignore it) you get a quest failed message, and then when you go back to the garbage you get "protect the stalkers at the garbage" message again! Have these quest bugs been addressed?

With one of the quests, if you exploit the bug properly, you can acquire an infinite number of Crystal artifacts from Skinflint as a reward.

I'm not using any mods, the game's patched (1.0001) and I'm running the game on XP SP2. The game crashes with the loading of any style of savegame (quicksave and the normal save).
The savegames per se are not corrupted in any way, the game just does not want to load them if I made them in the army warehouses map. In every other map saving is bug-free up to now.

I would like to know why DUAL CORE cpu optimization has not been put into the 2nd patch. That is dissapointing

most of those fixes I have never even had a problem with.
Anyway, cant hurt to fix the games code through-out.

Don Reba. As someone who knows GSC's thinking, any news on ATI issues? Seeing as we are getting no update otherwise.


I've just gone through almost the entire game with my Radeon x1950 with almost no problems (and zero crashes) until near the end (see post https://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&lang=en ). Installed newest ATI drivers, as suggested in support, and the game keeps crashing after 10 seconds. Even my previous save games (which were working fine) crash after seconds of play. Get this error message in the log...

001B:0103200A xrCore.dll, IReader::r()

[error][ 1450] : Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.



I then find out after hetfy searching that there are severe problems with Catalyst 7.4, and ATI cards in general, is a known issue.

Even reverting back and reinstalling the drivers that WERE working (Catalyst 7.1) now doesnt help. Absolutely daft, especially with the lack of support on this from GSC.

Frustrating to be so near the end, yet can't complete it. Even more frustrating that I can't even play the game now at all by following the suggestions of updating to the latest video card drivers.
I'm concerned as well that a future patch will ruin save games. Being so near the end this really would be a kick in the teeth.

I would appreciate your insight.

AI Still shoot through the walls in the NPP underground near the wish granter and through the gate at the warehouse in the garbage. So is sight literal or conceptual, cause if they see how can they shoot me through a wall? Especially if I'm quiet. They also just get up and walk away from a fight , Like I give up don't feel like doing this anymore cya...Or never turn around when theres gun fire, They're supposed to hear... They just stand there with there back turned so you just pop em the head... That gets his attention fast.

Invisible and Un-pick-up-able guns & Why is this site so slow?

I am having many issues where there will be multiple bodies down in a firefight and their assault rifles are invisible and cannot be picked up. You can hear them as you walk over them (a generic clanky noise) and sometimes they appear after a while. More often than not, however, they remain invisible until you save and reload at which point they are gone. Extremely annoying when you are trying to build up enough ammo to support a particular weapon as your primary or carting guns for monies. On another note, 90% of all guns are empty when found which is unrealistic to say the least. Every other bug I have encountered is already documented here and if these two are as well then my apologies for the clutter. One more thing, THIS website (www.gsc-game.com) C R A W L S for me to the point where it is almost useless. This is verifiable on three separate machines over three different lan connections so it's not hardware or bandwidth, but the site for sure.

When will the third patch be release, I dont see any point of keeping the patch back to just add more and more bug fixes and improvements, and rather split them up into several patches.

Will we have to wait for the 3rd patch, or will they release a hotfix to be able to play the game with our shiny new ATI cards??

If the devs sort the problem, but don't release a hotfix, then I'm not impressed at all!

The AI needs to be fixed so that the dumb NPC's dont walk into fires, killing themselves. This case is especially bad when an important NPC like Wolf kills himself . Plus the NPCs at camps need to be replaced faster after they die by another NPC so that if the Freedom, Duty, etc camp get decimated, it can get back into 100% strength as before.

Will the 'magic awareness of AIs about protagonist after saving/loading near enemy AIs' be fixed or it's too complex problem and require huge reworking of the engine?

Stealth is virtually impossible because of the bug.

Heres a problem, patch 1.0004 sucks ass in general and overall. I pray to god that the reason for the jump to 1.0006 is because GSC/THQ know this and are rectifying it as well as fixing other stuff. Also, increase mutant spawns and make them free-roaming for crying out loud! Stealth is also impossible in patch 1.0004, I modified my knife so it makes ZERO NOISE (and registers as such on the "noise" meter) and somebody STILL somehow heard me! The level after the sewers is also properly screwed up, if you die in that level, your narfed. NO savegame from that level will load, resulting in a crash to desktop. If you can get past that level without dying, the crashes in Pripyat will surely get you. Patch 1.0004 is worse than the inital release of the game, and thats saying something.

Ummm i have a weird bug, which happens all the time. there are dead bodies all around the place especially in the camp or spots with a campfire? and sometimes when i go out to another map, my character ended up being dead after the loading screen and i cant continue on with the missions because the character ends up dead everytime i go to another map.

is there a solution for this?

Hey there fellow stalkers !

First of all let me apologies if this problem has been signaled before , but the search function is so annoying on this forum that you can't find anything with it
The problem consists in guards that spawn only when you get close to the zone of their spawning positions . This occurs at the Bar ... every time when I get back from any zone to the bar I see dead bodies on the side from the Wild Territory / Army Warehouse .

This happened because the guards that protect that side of the bar spawns only when the player gets close to that location . Why dose the the other Stalkers are there when I am not ... and the guards aren't ?

Wasn't they supposed to be there all the time like the other AI controlled characters ?

I realized the fact that the other AI controlled characters are having a panic attack when they see a dead body and they start scouting the area for enemies that are not there ... so to calm things down I have to carry those bodies outside the BAR area for everything to come back to normal .

Really is annoying to see Mercs entering BAR and killing Lone Stalkers because those guards are spawning only when the player is there .

LE : And i know this is a general problem ... because I am sure you hear the same sound of lock and load when you get close to their spawning points as if then they appeared there .

To explain my point I made some screen shots .

There is also this bug in army warehouses area.After i kill all freedom members the duty guys return to the village.But somehow they get alerted all the time.Maybe because there was a dead neutral stalker in theyr farm ? Anyway , as they return from search for theyr imaginary enemies , they often push each other close to fire in middle of house and many of them burn to death.There is now like 6-7 dead bodies and all of them seem to be neutral ones , none is from duty members dead.The bodies just keep to pile up.

There is also bug that doesnt allow you to finish the kill Lukash quest if you attack first the sniper you suppose to kill before you talk to duty leader and accept quest.Why not to trigger on that quest as soon as you start killing theyr snipers , even if you do it on your own ? Or make me able to finish the damn quest.

And why isnt the sound still fixed ? There are loads of NPCs that just repeat the same line all over and over again.For instance some guys in barkeepers bar , or that idiot scientist in yantar! Or that idiot patrol near the exit from bar area to the garbage who keeps telling you "get out of here , stalker".That one should surely be removed while guy in entrance to barkeeper should ONLY say "come in , dont stand there" when you REALLY stay in front of him , not just when he sees you.Or that bastard called "i always got something "interesting" for people like you".Noooo! I dont want to hear these guys just repeating the same line over and over again.Why cant they just shut the fuck up and only talk when they got something to say!? Same problem is with all the neutral stalkers and theyr annoying havoc.They just keep talking something to me when im near to them with a gun in my hand.Why cant this be removed too ? Its nothing but silly and annoying , because most times i DONT stick gun into theyr face in order to get some nasty replies!

All Known Bugs to Date - Compliation

These bugs have been taken from my own experience :

Section 1. Numerous "Lag spots" where the game will freeze for maybe 20 seconds.
A. Entering the Metali structure on garbage, where you need to defend it from bandits.
B. Entering Bar from Garbage, whilst crossing the metallic "bridge" over a small ditch with nearby dogs.
C. Entering Bar from Wild Territory or Warehouses, as you pass through the metal barricades guarded by stalkers.

Various others are present, if you've found one, please post.

Section 2. Crashes
Random crashes for no apparent reason, whilst running Patch 1.05.
A. Pripyat, whilst approaching the Bandit Camp initially, this has now spread to contain most of Pripyat. I have noted this usually happens when two things happen : 1. Someone on-map is firing at you, 2. A "off-map" atmosphreic soundbyte of distant gunfire is playing. This may just be me, but every time I hear those two simultanously, it CTD's.
B. General, Random crashes tend to happen to me everywhere, every so often now. If anyone has any more definite locations, please post.

Section 3. Immersion Issues. (Named due to thier ability to prevent the player really becoming immersed in the game)
A. Repeated statements. "Get out of here Stalker"
B. Lighting issues, i.e. headlamps being attached to the heads of soldiers, whilst the light is coming from a point under thier feet, which moves with them.
C. Watching enemies spawn upon map entrace, i.e Red Forest -> Warehouses. Nothing like seeing two bloodsuckers, 10dogs and 3 flesh appear in front of you.
D. Weapon issues. Once a weapon is dropped upon the ground, if you leave then re-enter a area the weapon will be standin up, lengthways, and no longer on its side. I am yet to discover a radiation-mutated "Gun stander-upper" monster.
E. AI issues. I have a fire with about eight corpses on it in Red Forest, just where the AI tried to warm themselves, and they walk right into it and die. Good for free loot, bad for game immersion. (Happens everywhere there is a fire, RF was just an example)
F. Stupid triggers. A army soldier in bar (near the garbage -> bar entrance, before the little ditch) began shooting me. When I shot back, and killed him, the "There is a murderer on duty territory, find him and kill him" message began to play and I was thus hostile to everyone in the Bar.
G. Mapping Issues. It is possible to get out of the map without any effort in so many locations its hard to list them. The most memorable ones are : Bar, where the dogs spawn. Walk onto the ditch, jump over the fence. Yantar, walk to the crashed helicopter behind the research bunker, walk up the hill. You are out of the map, by walking up a hill.
Warehouses : Rocks behind the crashed helicopter area, but before the checkpoint which leads no-where guarded by enemies, you can jump on a rock, then onto another, and you are out of the map.
H. Sound issues. Particularly following the helicopter attack on Yantar, the helicopters remain, but are not visible, to annoy players with the rotor noise. I found them, get out of the map as is stated above, and they are there. If you pull out your knife, one blow will destroy them.
I. Item damage issues. (There is a mod to fix this, I reccomend it.) If an item can be damaged, it can be repaired? I have no idea how it is possible to include unique items into the game, i.e. upgraded weapons, and then have them slowly become useless.
J. A-Life system. Creatures spawn in always the same place, and remain there. It would be nice to see those pigs outside the Freedom Base in Warehouses walk about a bit, instead of just standing there and occassionally walking into the minefield. Likewise with snorks etc. Animals roam around, this would add to realism greatly.
K. NPC AI. Upon entrance to the Wild Territory section, I have to sprint past the duty patrol that spawns there every time I enter (ruins immersion in itself) and get to the doorway of the red-brick building before the duty patrol gets there and blocks the doorway. If they do, I have to re-load and try again. Include a way of preventing them blocking doors, please.
L. If you are trying to sneak and load the game, you are instantly detected. I would like a "Save-Load Detector" next to my Geiger counter, too.
M. Collision problems. I have regularly had enemies shoot through walls entirely, which is a real problem when I am on low health and I need time to scavenge for a medikit. M. Also includes when enemies move through walls, i.e. When the arms and weapon of an enemy will appear through a wall.
N. Enemy monsters sometimes show up as friendly once you have killed them.
O. Map updating issues. A stash icon will only dissapear from the map if you use the "Take All" button, annoying to have purple icons everywhere if you cannot carry it all. General things not leaving them map, such as "Kill this" tags etc.
P. New quests upon entrance to areas. I still get "Defend the camp at Garbage" quests when entering Garbage from any direction. This also includes others such as in Yantar and Cordon.
Q. Inventory Scroll Bar, It begins again at the top, this is particularly annoying when removing large amounts of ammunition from stashes.

That is it. I will edit and update the compliation if needs be. If you wish to post, please state the Section and Sub-Section you wish to add to, i.e. if you want to mention something relevant to the New Quests on Map entrance issue, please have "Section 3. P" at the beginning of your post, so it is easily referenced to the original post.

Please do not post "Yeah, I have this issue:" and just repeat what I have said. Otherwise this will reach 32pages like the others and be useless to everyone.

My opinion : I don't intend to buy Clear Sky unless all these issues are fixed. We need to know that GSC will help the community with its issues, otherwise it is totally possible Clear Sky will have just as many holes as this game did. From the look of the description of Clear Sky under the New section of the site, it looks like they are including everything that should have been in this game. Perhaps they should make Clear Sky free, as it is mainly just the patch we have been wanting for this game? (I know it won't happen, but it has to be said.)

- AI triggers eg. going near south wall of Freedom base makes you hostile to freedom
- Lack of blowout mentioned repeatedly as marketing tatic
- Lack of open world options, mentioned repeatedly as marketing tatic
- NPC spawning issues, i.e entering Warehouses from Red Forest spawns : 2 bloodsuckers, 8 dogs, 8 fleshes on top of you = instant death (usually)
- Patches not addressing the problems listed above
- Development not addressing the problems listed above
- Beta testing not addressing the problems listed above

I'm done. Next time, don't release a game, not fix the issues, then just make a new one instead, when you should be fixing this. GSC loses fans and selling power, Clear Sky may be just as flawed, when it should be an expansion at best, or patch 1.0001 at worst.

I have one. I have Vista, an amazing new computer, 8800 gtx, 2048 RAM, everything whoop-de-doo, and yet on dynamic lighting (object or full), monsters, items, and even whole camps fail to load full of NPCs - I have been exploring a deserted rookie village, only to find that the rookies finally spawn right infront of me and go backto what they were doing!

Plus, items in crates take ages to appear - they just spawn in mid air a few minutes after I smashed the crate. Very realistic.

I had that problem too and it has something to do with the save file for your installation. I got mine from Steam and maybe that has something to do with it. There are a lot of sites with answers to it. Just google "problem saving games in stalker" or something

Perfecttrunks2000 is right: Search for the answer, first.

Regarding saves that don't:

1) Make sure you are using patch 1.0003 or later. The Steam version is already patched to 1.0005 as of this post.

2) Mods: There is a problem with some mods that have their own version of fsgame.ltx, as it needs to be different for the different OSes.

3) Steam: There is a bug in the Steam version that manifests itself in Vista 32-bit (or XP/Vista 64-bit) installations. The fsgame.ltx file is not properly configured.

Look at the first line of that file in Notepad. You'll see something like this:

$app_data_root$=true|false|C:\|Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-SHOC\

That's valid for XP. Vista 32-bit installs use C:\|Users\Public\Documents\STALKER-SHOC\ -- and system calls made at high levels will map into the correct directory, but the low-level calls made by the STALKER application don't know about this.

Another problem is related: The 64-bit installs also have a separate directory for X86 (32-bit) executables, and this can mess up the program's operation in a similar manner.

The fsgame.ltx file needs to be properly configured for the OS version. Make a backup, first.

Hummm, I am not having any problems with the 1.5 for eaither SOC and CS as computer play. running a OL 2.2 mod in SOC and unpacked and adjusted the hell out of CS to give it a leveled playing feild like SOC.

I have explored the entire city of PRIPYAT in SOC and again had no problems. the blow outs do work in the OL 2.2 mod as well in all levels as well when the monsters spawn after wards.

I might get a CTD but if I do it is usally 1 and its after I been playing for about 6-7 hours of playing on my day off.
