I know it is off topic, but is it me or clear sky looks far better than call of pripyat and why it would be?

Agreed. I actually like Stalker because it IS set in eastern Europe.

Regardless of the pixels, the textures or animations, if you don't create
the right atmosphere, then you don't have the same level of immersion.
I'll never get that in the CoD games with all the screaming and chatter.

This is quite true. But bear in mind, stalker has spoiled us. Most westerns are simply not interested in anything made or set in eastern Europe. So their limited perception cannot comprehend the awesomeness that is stalker. Of course, they do not realize what they are missing, for ignorance is bliss.

I haven't bought a new game since Fallout New Vegas (I'll take a new stalker over any of these though). Its the longest I've gone without buying a game. The problem is nothing compares to stalker (FPS-wise) or the old command and conquer games (RTS-wise). Although given the collapse of the gaming industry after 2008, with closures of good companies like Lucasarts and GSC, I feel video games are dead.

Well, I was trying to give COD the benefit of the doubt. Graphically, I was talking about COD4 vs stalker (Same year - only fair) on how you could see the pilots in helicopters, unlike in stalker.

Believe me, I am no fan of COD. I was trying to be neutral. That is all.

Loved the COD texture vid though.

Same year is STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl vs CoD 4.

No I do 2013 CoD vs 2008 STALKER Clear Sky.
BTW Clear Sky wins against all CoDs currently out right now

Call of Duty and good graphics???

*BLALAAHAAHAHA*

Apart from animation (captured, they have the money) it is one of the most pathetic games out right now for graphical fidelity.
Compare this, 2013 AAA gigantic 300 million dollar game:

To our very own 2008 Low Budget Niche PC exclusive:

Nope.

I agree with Tejas has posted, but I do understand where you come from. Call of Duty is superior in terms of character animations and graphics (Specifically vehicles). In addition, the missions are more engaging.

However, the missions have limits, not to mention that every play through of call of duty is the same. Stalker is always different with each play through. Plus, I don't like the stress scripted missions produce (Although when I was younger, I did). I like the explorations and free roam. I actually dislike the later parts of stalker games as they tend to go the way of call of duty, with tight scripts and little exploration.

In addition, in call of duty, you are playing as a western protagonist vs evil Russians, Germans, or Arabs. In stalker, you are just like everyone else. If call of duty was less biased, and allowed the player more flexibility in terms of who they play as, I would enjoy it more and play it. Command and Conquer spoiled me in this regards, as unless a game lets me play the bad guys, I won't buy it. In stalker, you are not really good or bad, which is a nice balance.

optical_illusion~

I have to disagree with you.

CoD's first attempt at Pripyat was terrible. Everything was an
unrealistic blue tint and was lacking any detail and looked generic.

Later attempts added the color brown to the blue but still looked fake.
I'm not understanding the whole comic book inspired shades of depiction.

So what if you had the ability to grovel about on the ground like a snake.
Any sane person wouldn't want anything but their shoes on irradiated soil.

However probably what I found the most annoying in the CoD4 version is
the non-stop chatter and on screen dialogue. Shut the hell up I kept thinking.

Complaining that the animations ( non-game playing elements ) don't
show how military troops travel about the Zone are pointless. I don't
have to have a movie simulate that to me to understand that concept.

I don't get any of the immersion in the Zone that the Call of Duty series offer
when comparing them to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Games. CoD's tightly scripted, linear,
non-open ended game play can't hold a candle to the efforts by GSC Game World.

I shall defend, to the last, your right to hold such an opinion.

I do not agree with it.

I think it may even be that you're experiencing an optical illusion.

.
---END QUOTATION---

the only part where NPC's is X18...they ''supposedly'' come from the choppers, yet if you are fast enough..you can SEE they just spawn right there preset.

I agree not all STALKER levels should be ambient.the chernobyl level in STALKER is one of the best ones( a shame you cant even go back)

.but CoD4 captures other parts PERFECTLY.....the NPC's are few and far inbetween that silence...the crows...is THAT what you want from an abandoned ghost place Chernobyl?

Even tho I never been to cherobyl, i was born in Kremenchuk (, ( near kiev) it is LITERALLY like that ive lived in Eastern Europe for 12 years

Even in Black ops there are alot of scripted events where NPCs come in vehicles and get out of them ,etc..but in stalker army simply ''spawns'' out of the air and how do they even travel to the zone at least???

Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
