I've been playing as a stalker rather than as a soldier. Did you see a dialog for calling a helicopter when talking to the military commander in Cordon? Just an idea.

Thanks again Jim. I've been back to the Perimeter, no joy. I also wiped out the clear sky base, no joy. So I feel a bit stuck at the moment - shame, as playing as military really makes you see the zone in a whole new way.

Looking in the files it does seem that Degtyarev is a 'perimeter' character, but alas I can't find him. I think I read elsewhere that his spawning can be problematic.

EDIT: So I cut and pasted Novikov's conversations into Dormouse, and got a helicopter ride to Jupiter, and found Degtiarev... fingers x'd... we're off to Pripyat!

As a side observation, with such expansive and enjoyable mods as these arriving, I can't help but think that the 'Lost Alpha' guys have missed their opportunity. I'm happy to be wrong, but the bar is getting ever higher, and after 3 years (yes really) LA looks very overdue.
---END QUOTATION---

LA is pretty ambitious being that it's turned into a stand-alone game essentially a remake of the original.

Hi - I'm getting stuck by "you do not have skills to crack" issues when back in Jupiter on the first secret mission. Has anyone worked out how to get the requisite skills?

Similarly has anyone worked out if the 'blue knowledge fountains' described by Dr. Marsh exist, and if/how they work?

I wasn't questioning their ambition, simply observing that mods like AlternativA already seem to be telling whole new stories combining the 3 Stalker sandboxes, and that LA may struggle by comparison after 3 years of generating excitement and anticipation. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy for it to be fantastic, but I gave up waiting for its release about 2 years ago.

I got the skills from the Clear Sky scientist in the Marsh (playing as a stalker). These are two multilevel quests. There are at least three levels of each skill.

And what the Doctor said is a complete puzzle to me. You apparently enter one of the blue anomalies near a helicopter wreck. There doesn't appear to be a wreck in the Marsh. (The answer for the military playthrough is on the webpage with the guide below.)

Haven't played in more than a week. Waiting for new glasses. <g>

Do you have any insight in how to return to Predzone? My assumption is that you need to grab a backpack before you leave the first time and to stash everything but the quest item you need to take back. And then retrieve your gear after returning from Predzone. Otherwise you would lose most of your gear.

This mod has the potential to be really good but needs a guide.

Many thanks. Note that the guide is for v1.1 and the page notes that there are v1.2 differences.

Jim, hi thanks for that - do you have a save you could send me prior to that conversation? I can try to reverse engineer it for the military story? Playing as military I killed all Clear Sky in the Marsh... they started it, honest!

Before heading to Jupiter a backpack or two is essential, also some GPS markers - else you have to give up a lot of loot. I think if you hang around the helipad long enough the transport helicopter arrives and you get a chance to return to Marsh.

Many thanks Olivius for the guide.

From Olivius' link - the place of knowledge in Jupiter:

Location knowledge of Jupiter is where a stalker RFP was Oasis.
go in the cellars under the vent complex and go into the invisible teleport. exerted in a room with square columns. Between the columns are invisible teleporters. Find a place where not teleport knocks back and go through the door at the opposite end of the room. Through the door, get into the room with a place of knowledge.

Sent a save.

If there is no other place to catch the helicopter, I suspect that Clear Sky is like the military at Forestry when playing a stalker. The soldiers there usually shoot you but when you need to use the portal, you can talk to them.

Jim, thanks muchly for the saved game.

You are quite right, I used a very old save to go back to Clear Sky camp without killing any Clear Sky, Loners, Stalkers, etc etc, and I could converse with Novikov without any problems, and despite being 'red' in my binoculars, the Clear-Sky people did not attack me.

Cheers,
H
