Hello Stalkerstein

For Alternativa,I translate rapidly with SDHv4,and corrected what i'm playing and understanding.
The bad is all the dynamics messages,too long.
So I make a pseudo xml files with long parts of news texts and go!

For TT2,Drukzz and me on StalkerFrance and StalkerForever
started a traduction of this awesome mod.

in

That line describes the language.

an xml file might have this text in it:

<string id="blah_blah">
<text>Ìåñòíûé æèòåëü.</text>
</string>

If the language is supposed to be Russian then we use:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1251"?>

after closing an opening the file the text will look like this:
<string id="blah_blah">
<text>Местный житель.</text>
</string>

I got the mod to run using "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl.v.1.0006 (2007) (RUS) [Repack] от R.G.Best Club" which I downloaded some time ago. Default is 1.0006 but it comes with a 1.0004 bin folder that I am using.

Your Dialogue Helper (V5) worked flawlessly on both the text and gameplay folders. There are obviously some script files (news messages etc.) that need translating but the game is quite playable and the machine translation is not too bad.

I have an international (English) retail SoC DVD but I could not get this mod to work with it ... no matter what I tried.

First thing I noticed is that the PDA map does not show any detail of the initial map you find yourself in ... Predzone (Peacekeeper map from Secret Trails 2) .... and I cannot find the Military Commander you are supposed to find in "Military Town"

EDIT: Just noticed your text files path fix. I'll look for them and see if I can get this mod to work with my retail pack. Not good programming practice to have language folder paths embedded within code files. Changing localization should be a universal fix ... oh well.

Hi - I hope someone can help.

I'm playing the military 'campaign' in AlternativA 1.2.

I've made it to the Marshes looking for Degtyarev and his downed helicopter, and have spoken to Dr. Marsh and Dormouse (in the Clear Sky base - which I didn't loot).

I seem to need to get to Jupiter, but can't see any jump points to get there... from any map listed in the PDA 'help file' - any ideas please?

I suspect I've missed something obvious! Many thanks in advance.

PS I'm loving this mod...
PPS I'm updating the machine translation text as I go, and also jotting down a players-guide...

Ask Novikov? (the Clear Sky commander) and he'll call a military helicopter for you. Costs 5000 to go to Pripyat..

Thanks Jim - unfortunately all of the Clear Sky bods I've met so far open fire on me without hesitation... am I doing/have I done something wrong?

Were they hostile to you when you got into their base?

I didn't search their base too carefully given everyone wanted to kill me.....

I've been playing as a stalker rather than as a soldier. Did you see a dialog for calling a helicopter when talking to the military commander in Cordon? Just an idea.

Thanks again Jim. I've been back to the Perimeter, no joy. I also wiped out the clear sky base, no joy. So I feel a bit stuck at the moment - shame, as playing as military really makes you see the zone in a whole new way.

Looking in the files it does seem that Degtyarev is a 'perimeter' character, but alas I can't find him. I think I read elsewhere that his spawning can be problematic.

EDIT: So I cut and pasted Novikov's conversations into Dormouse, and got a helicopter ride to Jupiter, and found Degtiarev... fingers x'd... we're off to Pripyat!

As a side observation, with such expansive and enjoyable mods as these arriving, I can't help but think that the 'Lost Alpha' guys have missed their opportunity. I'm happy to be wrong, but the bar is getting ever higher, and after 3 years (yes really) LA looks very overdue.

StalkerDialogLtxHelper v1

I cloned the SDHv5 program and created another one for the 'misc' and 'weapons' ltx files. Seems to work. If anyone wants to try it out let me know. I could use someone to help with testing. I'll send it by email.
