The Freedom Base in SoC is dull compared to this:

Shadow of Chernobyl - Patch 1.0005

I'm all alone fighting wave after wave of Military coming after me at the Southern
Farmstead in the Marshes. This video is the tail end of a bigger scenario that was
very difficult because I kept accidently shooting the Duty and Ecologist NPCs that
kept getting in the way and were looting right in the middle of the action. If you
watch the end you can see the aftermath of what I'm going to describe. It actually
started in the other house where the green stash chest is. I was there with my 2
companions. I left them inside to walk around the inner perimeter of the Southern
Farmstead. When I returned I was near the green stash chest and I turned around
and a single Military soldier has snuck in behind me, crouching and I faced him and
was momentarily stunned. Here I am in an area full of Dutyers and Ecologists
outside this house yet no one is lifting a finger or calling any alarm. The soldier and
I quickly return fire, I move in closer, he punches me and I blast him with my
shotgun. I turn around and my Exoskeleton companion is dead laying on top of the
stash chest. My remaining companion runs outside. Suddenly through the windows,
I see many Military soldiers run by and I attempt to shoot at them and I quickly die
in a hail of gunfire as they shoot from various directions through the open windows.
I had made a manual save right after the first soldier was killed and launched it
again knowing I would die again if I stayed inside that building. I ran out and went
directly to the smaller building where this video starts. I knew none of the windows
were low enough, it offered some heavy wooden crates as cover and only had one
way in. In my mind this was the perfect building in the Southern Farmstead to make
a stand but I had never been forced to use it. At the end of the video and in the
Mini-map you can see my line-of-sight outside where the Military were coming from
the level changer. As mentioned before, I had to make manual saves in stages
because the Dutyers and Ecologist kept getting in the line of fire and I had to save
my progress in stages and start over again many times. I would hit them and then
the Duty and Ecologists would turn hostile and try to come in and kill me too. I did
not want hostile relations with Duty or the Ecologists so that is the main reason for
starting over. Another time before the last wave, I ran outside and was cut down in
a hail of gunfire from multiple directions. After that I realized there was no escape
and I had to wait it out to the end inside the building where I was trapped. The
video is the final version of the events that I described. You can see in the video
how the Dutyers and Ecologist would often loot right next to an attacking soldier.
Those bastards took everything. After I survived, you can see I did not recover a
single weapon, a single round of ammo, a single bit of supplies from the 20 dead
Military soldiers that attacked me. All I got was 2 PDAs, 1 Toolkit and 20 Faction
patches. MY AKS-74U was damaged. I had 6 rounds left in reserve ( started with
over 400 rounds ). The video ends with me surveying the entire scene I described
and then taking a load of used weapons from previous battles and limping back to
the Clear Sky Base for repair. This was one of my most difficult firefights in CoC.

Something you'll never see in SoC:

Call of Chernobyl: In the Marshes at the Clear Sky Base. An Emission
takes place turning a few into Zombies. Panic, mayhem and chaos
breaks out as shooting begins. People die. Some of the NPCs can't
handle the stress of the situation very well. The final words spoken
by a Loner before he flees out the front gate is the title of this video.

Compare the action and AI between SoC and CoC at this location:

I took the job from Sidorovich as a contract killer and my target was
located at the Car Park. I left the Rookie Village and the video starts
as I just ascended the hill and headed north-east to it. As it usually
happens, the Military was interested in what I was doing going towards
a notoriously Bandit infested location. A Psi Storm, Fog and a Pseudodog
complicate my escape. The video ends with my reward from Sidorovich.

Genocider~

I'm enjoying Call of Chernobyl so much it is sucking away all my free time.
I do take some screenshots and have recorded a lot of video but it is very
difficult to be away from the Game to tell stories and the best I can do
lately is an occasional video posted. Clear Sky started in the Marshes
but the campaign against the Renegades was short-lived. I have now
spent an entire CoC month in the Marshes and it has been glorious.

Perhaps start a Call of Chernobyl thread and share your insights there Tejas? I don't check this board as much these days but I did just have one hell of a read in the off topic section

I tried out Call of Chernobyl but was welcomed by the bugs and terrible AI; during my first playthrough I decided to try an ironman bandit life only to be disappointed by how bad the AI was, and some things about vanilla CoP still present that I found distasteful. Mainly the only talk and trade with Squad leaders thing, as well as the fact that killing friendly bandit squads right near the base had no impact on faction relations or mattered much to bandits in the base :\.

I hope modders continue to refine Call of Chernobyl though and that those constant small things that CoP plagues me with are eventually resolved. I've upgraded my computer finally too! Running CoP on high settings is quite nice if I do say so myself.

Oh, and as an aside Tejas would you mind doing a dual format to your posts, like screenshots plus the video? I usually don't have time to watch long videos like yours and prefer seeing screenshots and reading your depiction of events. I'm sure that's a lot more work for you though but hey, thought I'd at least let you know what I prefer haha.

Good hunting Stalker!

I thought I would share what happened to me tonight since it was funny.

There had just been a Psi Storm where 3 Loners were caught outside.
This meant some big loot afterward. I was there first but it was too
much to carry so I dropped the most worn out first. I took it into a
nearby building and came right back. As best as I can figure out,
a Loner and a Clear Sky trooper were fighting over the loot and the
Loner killed him. Then some Clear Sky surrounded the guilty Loner
who got into a surrender position. The other Loners could only
watch as they knew he had done wrong. The Clear Sky who had
the Loner on his knees, berated him and then he was executed.
I got the loot from both of them. It was a very strange sight.

( Be sure to adjust your video settings on Youtube for 1080p )

Shadow of Chernobyl - Patch 1.0005

FYI: I started a Game of Call of Chernobyl. I'm currently on June 15th
which is about 18 days into the Game. I have some scattered posts on
the Call of Chernobyl thread over in the CoP Forum under Mod Discussion.

Here's a short video showing how you can choose 1 of 9 Factions at start:
