Shadow of Chernobyl - Patch 1.0005

It's Day 17 in the Cordon. I'm ranked number 10 in the Game
and I have not sold or taken any jobs to give up a single Artifact.
I currently have eight suits, have not bought anything from Sid and
have managed to amass over 100,000 rubles from selling used weapons.

Good grief! I haven't had the chance to play for days, but I'm pretty sure I've been on my game for longer {in game days}, and am still not very far from the bottom-most rating {a figure of 945 springs to mind}. I may have made it to the 100,000 Ruble mark in that time {not sure}, but have spent a least 50,000 or so on replacement suits {plainly, not a wealth accumulating strategy}.

And I know I've sold numerous artifacts already, just to get to where I am so far.

Many more posts like this Tejas, and I may be convinced to scrub this game and start over. As I've said before, I believe indiscriminate gunfire on my part may have already compromised this game.

Please don't post too many pictures of your current stashes, or I'll really start getting depressed.

But I'll read your posts anyway.

Do they think the stalkers there are making boars and training them to attack soldiers?
---END QUOTATION---

Well, yes, they actually do. They even talk about it sometimes.

In gamedata\sounds\characters_voice\human_01\military\states\idle idle_21 file you will find one soldier mumbling something like:
"They say that those beasts started to attack patrols at the nights... At the daytime they sc...w with each others, but at nights they gather into packs and kill us. Are the Stalkers commanding them or what? Bastards!!!"

Quite often it is a boar that sets the military in Cordon off. But why do they then attack the village?
---END QUOTATION---

I think the boars make the Military go into alert mode, which in turn makes them more "sensitive" to any stalkers nearby. Or they're simply noticing the Rookie Village while pursuing the boars in that direction. I all makes sense if you imagine them being seriously drunk and thus easily annoyed.

Um, in addition to everything else and, in a vanilla game, I'm supposed to be watching out for landmines?!?!

In Clear Sky NPCs throw grenades at you instead (with pin-point precision).

In this Game I have not had the need to buy a single item from Sid ( I'm proud of that )

---END QUOTATION---

Sid being the only source of the modified Tunder justifies making that purchase IMO. Otherwise I agree there's little point in buying weapons and suits.

---QUOTATION---
for some reason the Military attacked the Rookie Village and I had to use the grenades and 5.45 ammo I had been stockpiling to fight them off.
---END QUOTATION---

I use to trick them into the village when I still only have a pistol, then I take cover in an attic letting the other stalkers deal with the situation. Unfortunately Wolf tends to get killed as a result.

Probably a bug or one of GSC's stupid design decisions.

The military attacking the village after a boar attack is the equivalent of the US bombing Westward Ho! beach after 9/11, instead of some middle-east desert nation, because our beach has got sand on it.

Yes, on both sides of the road near the Military base in Cordon, there are landmine fields. Normally, the only thing to trip them will be yourself as you try and sneak into the base - as the Military stay on the roads, and the Boars normally don't make it down that far.

However, should a stray Boar make it down that far, it might step on one. If the Military run off the road (to shoot at something usually), they may trigger one as well.

Dang. I really need to catch up on this. I'm on day 10 in the Cordon & the
Military south of the Rookie Village stepped on a landmine and they all
went crazy and just attacked the Rookie Village and my Game froze.
It's a good thing I make constant manual saves right before this.
