Oblivion Lost Remake - OLR

Hey guys,

anybody knows something about this russian mod ? On Lost Alpha moddb page someone wrote, that this mod will be released veeeeeeeeeery soon, he wrote "maybe today".

I saw some videos on youtube and I'm pretty excited about this one. does anybody know where to get it, will someone make an english translation ???

I saw the same post and did some research. From what I understand it has been released recently. It looks like another "Old STALKER" mod but looks like they restored beta 19xx era maps.

I downloaded with this torrent and it's healthy with lots of seeds. You should grab it now while you can.

Its all Russian, it may not be compatible with worldwide or US releases. Luckily I have a Russian version of STALKER.

Now for my opinion (if you want it): Hmmm how to put this.. I don't want to give the impression at all that I'm saying its a bad mod or that I'm criticizing the mod makers. With that said, the maps are pretty awful and ugly, because they were abandoned by GSC in an unfinished state. The mod seems unstable, I get crashes in level transitions and such most probably because these beta levels contain a lot of errors. Getting these old maps to a playable and decent looking state takes a lot of work, and you can see now why the Lost Alpha people have been working for like 5 or 6 years now to fix these barely complete maps.

I get this fatal error when going from garbage: Can't find model file 'physics\stul\stul_1ñ.ogf'.

I found the file that's causing it, will try to enter it again, if it gives me the same error, I will try to somehow change that letter in that file... If it works will upload a little fix... it seems this error was in the old builds too, so they didn't fix everything completely...

Because of eng-rus character coding it's badly spelled, rename stul_1ñ.ogf to stul_1n.ogf.

There can be many errors like this (because of eng-rus coding) in gamedata, i hope only this is the reason of crashes. Spawned chair is pretty much everywhere.

Yeah, but the funny thing is - there are hundreds of other chairs, but there is only one that is spelled wrong (this one). All the others are right, even in the same file...

Corrected my above post. If the above doesn'T work, maybe it's referenced in all.spawn like stul_1ñ, so better to choose from vanilla gamedata the stul_1a or stul_1c, copy to mods gamedata and rename it to stul_1ñ.

thx for the info and input. hm doesn't read that good *laughs* didn't they work on the asthetic part of these old build maps ?

hm maybe I wait a bit, either for a translation or more fixes. how are the graphics ? are they like stalker vanilla (in this case build style)? or did they texture and shader work too ?

is it really only for russian stalker version, then I would have to pass on this anyway for now.

I would be interested because they use these old maps of cordon, garbage and so on. I want to play on these maps, but if I have to pass on this I would really have to wait for lost alpha *;D - I thought with this mod I could shorten the time until I can play on the old build map design maps.

Works for me with World Wide stalker 1.0006 (this mod requires this patch) and once I copied my gamedata and bins from this mod, I applied kingbins patched 1.0006 exe files for more memory allowance, and it worked. Don't forget that if your main localization is eng, copy the rus text folder in configs and rename it to eng...

The graphics are awful, just like in builds, but that way it still has that same atmosphere... shaders from older builds, sounds too, everything mainly... they just reconstructed the whole system with alife, quests, missions, and so on, and made something like final patch for the builds... That is my opinion at least.

Now Lost Alpha, as Dez said, won't be anything like this, as it's a new game completely, and they ditched the idea of reworking the old atmosphere and levels, so mainly it's like a STALKER 2 we really wanted, but not that build-like atmosphere mod anymore, something completely new, so if you want to come as close to the 2003-2004 builds, this mod could work, but it still isn't perfect either...

As i understand google translation, and as i see the videos - maybe because of this mod is Dx8 only? It's a restoration project, restores maps and story to the 2004 state, quests are taken from the GSC design docs.

Indeed, a lot of gameplay is restored and fixed, but nothing is changed in graphics or sounds, it's still Dx9 and uses those build shaders with a lot of shining in them...
