Check out the special forces addition in the latest version baff.

You can select the RPK, AK74SU, or RPG-7 as indigineous forces.

---QUOTATION---
Operation Flashpoint and looting enemy weapons in general
as for looting Sov weapons off of dead Sov's, that would hold up in Stalker.
if, however, you were expecting to find a load of dead American soldiers at Chernobyl to loot from ..........

obviously that isn't going to be the case.
---END QUOTATION---

What about the American spyplane that gets shot down, and then the special forces that sneak into Ukraine to rescue the guy, and then they all get killed by mutants. You could use their guns .

The US also has a much larger border which would be much easier to sneak arms out of. I'm also sure, if something like the game's plot did happen you would have adventure seeking people from richer parts of the world trying to get in - illegally and legally, and they would bring the most high tech weapons they want.

Well, if I were rich, I probably might, anyway. After I buy Valve and GSC and play Betas of Half-Life 2 and Stalker all day. Well, okay, the dumb rich people would do it - but they'd go. It'd be like a more dangerous African safari. Of course, that probably wont be inducted into the storyline though...

dunno i havent read the book. what kind of guns do the spyplane pilots carry?

and then what?
we now have a load of illegal U.S. weapons in Mexico, Canada or the Atlantic or Pacific oceans? presumably being smuggled by a load of geographically challenged Americans, on the totally opposite side of the world to Chernobyl.

again i haven't read the book, so maybe there is a load of rich foreign gun smuggling types in Chernobyl. maybe our hero is not in fact Soviet at all. maybe just maybe, he is Bruce Willis.

i'm sorry mate, but your really clutching at straws here.
in S.T.AL.K.E.R. you play a stalker. he is a Soviet. there are no Americans.
all the Americans are busy fighting mutants on a tropical island, and aliens escaping in the Black Mesa compound. they don't have time to come to Chernobyl.

i know, why don't we take all the original features out of the game and the plot?
lets scrap the Soviet theme completely. lets place it in another burnt out reactor in say Colorado. or on a tropical island, or in a secret U.S. mountain base. it's been done.
lets turn a themed scripted Soviet sci fi shooter based on a popular book, into the same old repetative mutant shooter. with the same old amorphous guns and zero individuality.

probably the easiest thing to do would be to get the author to re-write the book to include all those rich foreign thrillseekers with their high tech guns and make them the protagonists, lets get him to add a crashed spy plane full of m4 sopmods. and then get him to write in the bit where the U.S. spec ops do a deep infiltration behing the iron curtain, knowing if they are seen it means the coming of the apocalypse and the utter destruction of all who they love.

the first part of the game could be the bit where you have to smuggle you guns out of the U.S. maybe in that spyplane.

up until now, i can't think of a single (contempory shooter) game without U.S. guns in it.
i'm sure halflife 2 will be utterly devoid of originality, if thats what your looking for.

Okay look, I myself hate the repitition of genric first person shooters, but what you are saying has nothing to do with the game and Black Mesa and Far Cry crap. However, not having any other people from other countries will be simply stupid and out of place, literally. You think Americans and west Europeans don't want money as much as soviets do? It's stupid, and although I agree that most stalkers should be soviet, some of them must be europeans, americans, maybe even middle-easterns, australians and even asians, since this is the world's "hotspot" at the time.

the book is already written.

either there are american guns in it. (and foreigners)
or there are not.
(i haven't read the book so maybe there are.)

the game is called Stalker. the book is the theme.

in the game Star Trek, there are no American guns either. it's not part of the theme.
they would be less out of place in Stalker than they would be in Star Trek. but still out of place nevertheless. (they have museums and time travel in Star Trek, so why not?).

do you want a game with a strong theme? or a weak one?
the theme is Soviet.
Australians and Americans are not Soviet.
why do you think it would be good to have non-Soviets in a Soviet themed game?
do you think this will make it inherantly more Soviet?
do you think an M16 will add to that Chernobyl feeling?
when you look at a picture of an man wielding an M16 backdropped against the sky, will that help you form an impression of being behind the Iron Curtain?

what you are suggesting adds nothing to the game. an M16 isn't going to shoot any different from an AK74.
since there are plenty of Soviet guns to choose from, it's hardly going to affect actual gameplay.
it simply detracts from the immersion for no gain.

When you think of Chernobyl, do you think of
---QUOTATION---
europeans, americans, maybe even middle-easterns, australians and even asians
---END QUOTATION---

or do you think of Soviets?

all i can assume is that if you are American, whatever and wherever in the world you think of, the first thing and only thing you think of is that Americans are there.
after all how would i know i was in Bangledesh if there wasn't a load of Americans with M16's running around. What about a game based in Tibet, will there be a load of M16 wielding Americans hanging out there too, i didn't even recognise the Eiffel Tower or the Taj Mahal sans Abrahms tank.
ffs go travelling.

I bet there are American weapons there today. Heck there might even be American food or magazines there. Better head over there now and clean the place up. Who knows what other things from other countries might be there today.

BUT...but, in the game, if the union still exists this might be less likely.

BUT...but again, this ficticious area is under control by people who could care less about what weapon you bring with you and would rather just shoot you on sight. If some goofy American goes over there, gets shot, I don't think they throw the weapon away.

And I can guarantee that there would be Americans in the zone if a hint of the activity that occurs there in the game got out. Therefore there would be American weapons. Unless of course the Americans are wiped out. Then I'd say probably not.

That's what I'm saying! How the fuck would you keep an incident so large at bay from the rest of the world anyway? I mean, stalkers are non-legit trespassers to begin with, so I'm sure that both american and soviet have to sneak into The Zone, meaning, whatever your nationality is, your citizen existence in The Zone is not legal, meaning, I am sure that if people from the USSR manage to sneak in, so will other people.

it seems to me that the U.S.S.R. has a long and well documented history of being able to keep Americans off it's soil.

something that your arrogance seems unable to comprehend.

as for the Americans being wiped out, yes, that was the general idea stated by the U.S.S.R. should any American gunmen seek to attempt it.
