Yes, I play at stalker difficult level.
I realize that I have played this game long enough and know enough about it turn it up a notch, but I do not like changing de difficult level during a game... and I have come too far to start all over

Maybe I should make an exeption and try to make it a littel bit harder.
As mentioned in another thread, the zone is basicly a walk in the park nowadays

To extend what Daroo (and I; see Edit) said:

1) All controllers have the ranged attack. Most don't use it right away; tube_at_once for the controller defaults to false and is only set true for the Agroprom tunnels controller and the X16 controller.

You have to be a certain distance from the controller (default is 10 meters) and the controller has to see you, even if you don't see it.

To Tejas Slacker's list I will add Pripyat, although I don't know if the controllers are present in an unfixed game. But they all have the tube "Mind Pull" ranged attack.

2) The controller's up-close-and-personal melee attack has no effect on the Marked One at lower difficulty levels.* Your mental health, shown by the blue bar in your inventory and indicated on your HUD by a color-coded encased-brain icon, will drop noticeably at Master difficulty level when near enough to a controller. Once it hits zero, you hit ground.

Yes, Krubarax, death ensues when the mental health bar hits zero, and that's just seconds when you are near two or more controllers at once.

__________
*Hmm. Krubarax, you might not be a noob, but you could be a Novice. Or maybe Stalker (Experienced)...

Edit: Man, you guys type faster than I do. See my post at the end of the first page of this thread where I said the same thing:

interesting.
As you said I thought the blue bar showed my suit health and that it was bugged (because it always show full health)

I will head out to some controller infested areas and check this out.
Also, when the blue bar reach zero, is there instant death?
As in you will not lose any health but just drop dead?

Can't wait to finish work now to get home and try this out!

Controllers can kill you both at a distance and at close range, only with their psy power.

If check your your inventory, you will see 3 bars: a red one for health, a yellow one for radiation, and a blue one for psy-health. Some people may think the blue bar is a bugged bar for your suit. It is not.

If you play at higher difficulty levels you will see the blue bar drop a bit faster when in contact with a Controller, even without the mind pull thing. When there is no more blue health, you die.

Hey common
I am not a n00b.

I have played this game since release and I have faced and killed hundreds of Controllers (maybe slight exaggeration )

I have, for the sake of science, seen them from 200 meters. then Stood motionless and just waiting for them to close untill we stand face to face.

They do ZERO damage and they never attack... they just walk towards me, moan and blur my screen, eventually turning it red as they get closer.

There is one thing I don´t understand.
Seriously - I need help figuring this out...

They just make their moaning noice and blur my screen. But never attack or do any kind of damage at all.

It is kind of boring
---END QUOTATION---

Once they see you they will attack.

A Truck named STALINGRAD

Cmdr. Vasily Kutnetz~

Every Day in the Zone is a "Cliffhanger"

Krubarax~

My Game remained totally Unmodded for 7 Months until December 2012
arrived to which I only added the Winter 0.3 Mod. Just didn't seem right
to be bright and sunny after spending so many months in the Zone.

I have been attacked and have had the "Mind-Pull" thing done on me:

- Agroprom Underground
- Yantar Underground
- Yantar above ground
- Army Warehouses

You have to be within the right range for it to happen.
It's a lot more dangerous Underground because you have
less room to maneuver. The biggest surprise I ever got was
when I was in Yantar running on top of the elevated crane when
the Controller pulled me out of my Body and slammed me to him.
When I was thrown back, I snapped back in my physical Body and was
so disoriented that I lost my footing and fell from up high to the ground below.

However I know what you mean about the Controller not being so
deadly when they get right up to your face. They should have made
the Controller be able to maul you with those claws like a Bloodsucker.

Tejas, do you use ANY kind if mod in your game?
The reason I ask is that I have NEVER EVER seen a Controller attack exept for the very first one you meet in the Agroprom underground.

They just make their moaning noice and blur my screen. But never attack or do any kind of damage at all.

It is kind of boring

A Truck named STALINGRAD ( Part 3 )

Slowly my vision cleared and I could think straight. Petka Beast
stood beside me while two of my Friends stood behind. My Mini-Map
still had six contacts meaning there were still more Zombies out there:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/7527/ygb31fj4.jpg

Petka Beast moved slowly towards the left where we both heard a
noise. Suddenly he screamed out and fell and two of us rushed to
help him. As I entered the building I faced an Exoskeleton Zombie
that got him, I killed it and quickly faced more fire from deep within.
I returned fire in the darkness and moved in as I reloaded my next clip:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/3343/ygb32lx4.jpg

I couldn't see where the Zombie had gone... I saw I had only one friend
still alive on the Mini-Map while there were a total of seven contacts:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/2564/ygb33pm8.jpg

Suddenly the Zombified Stalker sprang out from his hiding place.
The bullets were spraying wildly and I did take a few armor hits:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/6892/ygb34sf3.jpg

The Mercenary Zombie wailed loudly and started shooting away:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/4169/ygb35rn9.jpg

One of the Loners had come back to help me as I steadied my aim:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/9395/ygb36ab0.jpg

Even with headshots the "Living Dead" were hard to kill again:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/5507/ygb37jx6.jpg

Finally he fell and I saw there were just two of us left:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/1262/ygb38qz4.jpg

I found where Grishko Professor fell and took his Ammo and Food:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/1562/ygb39gt0.jpg

I looked for the others but could find no one else alive. I still had
more contacts and heard shooting but could not see who or where:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/7043/ygb40sq8.jpg

I moved in deeper and ran into more Zombies:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/4594/ygb41ss3.jpg

I unloaded a full clip and watched it rake up his chest to his face:
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/4937/ygb42sg4.jpg
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/5628/ygb43ro7.jpg
http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/4563/ygb44mc7.jpg
http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/4491/ygb45sp8.jpg

The Zombies hands faltered, he dropped his weapon
and then seemed to fall backwards in slow motion:

http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/4660/ygb47rb0.jpg
http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/4787/ygb48wx0.jpg

I looked at my Mini-Map...there was one green dot still left:
http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/8238/ygb49sc1.jpg

There was a scuffling noise behind me and I quickly whipped around:
