Well, I've never been to the Ukraine, so I dunno what I'm talking about.

But it would be great if you could experiment with the whole night/ moonlight thing a little and the nights will become brighter in the process.
I think I'll stick with the real-day-night-cycle mod until then, because pitch black nights are unplayable for me.

Hehe I've never been to Ukraine in 2012 also

I saw the screenshots. They are good, but I think the red skies are not realistic ones. It's like the Oblivion Plane area in Elder Scrolls 4. But it's only my opinion.

heh,

i'll have to post a promo video or something... gonna do this as soon as I get home

ppl still think in therms an hour lasting periods - you are not to blame - stalker vanilla had 24 of 1-hour lasting periods.
the shortest of those my mod uses are 1.30 minute long (and thre are more than 50 of them - i use them as the "frames" of the animation during the sunset // sunrise

this red lighting period is the final stage of the sunset - animated sunset. this period lasts for a few seconds just before the sun disappers behind the horizon. 20 minutes before you still have "normal" evening lighting with shaows getting longer. 10 minutes after this you can barely see where the sun has just dissappeared.

if you see the entire transition in motion - you'll look at those screenshots differently - as me when I posted them.

gonna do this video pretty fast...

Is there a way to make some nights have a moon and some nights not? It seems like that would be a good compromise, because it's certainly realistic that a moon would light up the place. Or if simulating the moon cycle would be too hard/impossible, you could put in a crescent moon that doesn't give out as much light.

I haven't tried the mod yet, but I do like the moon .

Presentation videos uploaded!

Hey,

I just finished uploding 4 presentation movies of my mod to YouTube. They are a bit lame in therms of movie making - there's no sound and quality is poor, also there is no real edit.

But i think they do they task - they give you a grasp about what my mod looks like "in motion". Especially important are those presenting the dynamic sunset and sunrise - these are two of main features of my mod and also two that did not have a proper preview.

Now they are available, for your pleasure to watch!

#4 - [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SwwSvtq9JA[/link] - this movie presents the sunset at Warehauses area. I think this particular feature of my mod turned up pretty nice . Please note that video turned uot significantly darker than the game itself - check the screenshots for reference.

Heh,

At the beggining thx for kind words .

The thing is that the both textures used during the sunset (and also the one that is just before it) are already those from the StalkerSkies. StalkerSkies mod textures are fully integrated to my mod already. One of the aims of creating this mod was to was to use them to the limits and to create a lighting settings that would fit them .
I'll chceck those textures again - maybe there is somothing better to come up with. Replacing and changing a color maybe in order .

The little problem is that those textures must transit to one another in a way that would "emulate" the effect of sun going down and dissappearing behind the horizon.

One question Kanyhalos - have you tried the mod in the game itself or just seen the movies and screenshots? Sorry to bother you abput this (and ceratainly i don't want to interupt your work at OLP - for effects of witch i wait as many other users) but I intend to put some more work into this mod (this only the base, initial realease) and the more opnions "from the field" I can get the better .

This also applies to all other ppl - if you like the screeenshots than try the mod out in game and give me feedback about it. I decided to wait with the update a little in order to make better fill the tastes of more ppl than just myself

So far I decided that I will create an optional night-time cycle - which is more lighted up (as an alternative to dark nights that are present now and which I personally prefer - but those reauire nice detection settings to justify itself and those are present in not so many mods and certainly not in vanilla).

The second thing that will be in update are some sounds created by Darius6 - all thunder and some ambient sounds too .

Hmmm,

I know this maybe the developers "secret" but did you introduce the chaotic weather or sth. like that?

If it goes to OL v.1.1 it is fully compatible - the only thing required is deleting the original sky > textures folder (and repacing it with ine from my mod) and replacing the weather_default.ltx (no file merging or tweaking required) - it works really sweet. Even the NPC behaviour is proper in therms of detection etc. I even tested my mod mostly by using the sleeping bag feature of OL.

So if the mod is still using the "classic" cycle - where's the problem? I'm asking of pure curiosity - as I said it's fully understnadable if you don't have time or sth.

Also as i am depnded on OL in therms of gameplay and on my mod in therms of graphics - i would like to make my mod compatibile with it if the new version changes how the weather system entirely - for ex. by making it chaotic as I said.
