Welcome to the forum, khazalid.
I think it might be a coincidence that there's a dog spawning before a crash. It is probably just switching online, along with the actual cause of your crash here.
There are still several crashes in the vanilla game patched to 1.0006. One that makes saves unusable in Pripyat is from a missing animation state for a Monolith soldier. The psydog crash only happens when the psydog is killed.
Thanks for providing the crash info. But you need better error reporting than what the game gives you in this instance, which is an error on top of the original error. Look for that "bad argument #2 to 'format'" error here:
The error-reporting bug is in _g.script; you can use the fixed version of that script from ZRP 1.05. The fix for the missing animation state is in state_lib.script in the same ZRP 1.05 archive. You can copy those two files from ZRP 1.05's gamedata\scripts\ to the corresponding place in your game after creating the folders: <SoC_install_folder>\gamedata\scripts\.
Then you will need to modify fsgame.ltx in your SoC installation folder so that the game will use the updated files. Change any false on the second line in that file to true and save the file. You might have to move the file to your desktop first, make the change, then move it back; see http://www.metacognix.com/stlkrsoc/TroubleshootingFAQ.html#ModInstall for details.
To fix the psydog death crash, just install ZRP 1.07 or later. ZRP works with existing 1.0004-1.0006 vanilla game saves.
ZRP fixes most of the problems you might experience, and the remainder are generally one-off issues that are fixed by reloading the last save.
Good hunting, stalker.
