-- what I have found so far --

1. I am getting the "F6 - quicksave" crash quite alot now, never did before.

2. I had a random crash to desktop when trying to access the games menu.

3. I am (when starting a new game for the first time) getting about a 5 second freeze when trying to exit the bunker in Cordon for the first time. I have never had this problem before.

4. I am getting random crashes now. For example, Just as I was about to enter the Garbage my game just froze. I have never had these problems before and all of a sudden they are happening.

5. My FPS seems to drop quite alot now when im running between bushes or trees. Again this happend at the border of Cordon & Garbage.

6. Because I get the "F6 - quicksave" crash alot I was thinking of saving via the game menu. The moment I hit the "Esc" key my game crashed back to the desktop. yet another bug I have never had before and now since 1.0004, I now have it.

7. When playing in Multi-Player and there is a strong wind, the grass almost jerks. I have not had this problem before or have never noticed it. I have not seen it in Single-Player, yet...

Oh and guys if you post here and then find another bug, rather edit your post over making a new one so that all the bug posts are very close together and easy to read. Also, please no talking about the bugs, lets just use this to list them.

and also after shooting a guy sid told me to shoot(he was in the village near wolf) all rookies remained neutral but nimble woke up and began to shoot me:/ (i don't have a screen for this but it trully happened)

Game's graphics darker when after loading savegame...

It seems patch v1.0004 has introduced some sort of automated vid_restart implementation each time a savegame is loaded from the main menu, but the problem is, when the screen becomes dark, it stays that way, and make objects like yellow med-kits in the inventory look strange. The effect can't be illustrated via screenshots, but anyone who's experienced this will surely know what I'm talking about.

I for one am getting random hard crashes when playing Stalker with the newest 1.0004 patch within 5 minutes or so into play, which I never had with 1.0003. I formatted my computer, reinstalled Stalker with patch 1.0004, same thing. I reinstalled Stalker again, but only up to 1.0003 this time and I didn't crash at all. I have the newest drivers by NVidia installed (beta Bioshock ones) for my GeForce 7900 GT 256MB card, and have also tried reverting to the WHQL drivers before those, and the problem still persists with 1.0004. I also tried using the -noprefetch command, still didn't fix anything. Lastly, I don't have any mods installed. Anybody have any ideas or similar issues?

EDIT: I retract my statement, it seems the crashing was an overclocking issue. I reverted to stock settings and the game has not crashed yet. The temperature has been higher than usual here, so maybe it was just too much.

I'm not sure it's related to 1.0004, but I'm getting an infernal amount of weird stuttering/lags in Warehouses. Every 10-15 seconds, the game freezes, gets suddendly bright, then a black screen appears and the game resumes afterwards. Is that what you call a "lock-up"?

Anyway, it makes the area rather unplayable. Why's this place so laggy anyway?

Very good point. And don't make the same mistake as me and think the new patch is causing crashing, when it is really a small overclock to some hardware settings. I think for bug testing to be fair, everyone should have vanilla Stalker and no mods, no overclocks, the newest drivers for their hardware, and windows upgraded properly, etc...

I've noticed that

1. The military does seem to attack the barkeep's area ALOT (of course I cant kill them or I become the murderer....)

2. I SAW A ZOMBIE RUN FROM A GRENADE

3.Image corruption on the upper right image of the person, Ill post a screenshot later

4. Still horrible stuttering in the barkeep's area and freedom base....little floppy icon on the lower right hand corner hard locks then finally will let me move freely

Timing issues:

-Player makes the finger sweep against the knife every 3 seconds.
-Often previous voice dialog gets cut off 1-3 seconds before the new starts.


Save issues:

-After loading saved game, nearby enemies turns hostile.
-In some situation when you load saved game, neutral or friendly npc's goes to combat mode and you cannot talk to them anymore.


Quest issues:

-Reward for the "Kill the snitch" quest received from Freedom is incorrect. Quest giver will say that he will give you Black Kite, but you receive some other pistol instead.
-In the Freedom quest "Kill Duty's at the farm", Max didn't give his speech before attacking, thus making all the Freedom guards remain at the base. Also reloading a saved game in this situation resulted to all Freedom soldier to go combat mode.


Crash issues:

-Game crashed two crashes in X16. One crash next to the locked door that something is hammering. Second crash just as seeing the first soldier in exit trip. Also had two crashes with 1.0001
-Game freezed one time in X18. I had to reboot my Pc.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this before. The issue has been in other patche as well:

The loading point when going to The Bar from Military Base is way behind the gate that leads out of military Base. In other maps the loading point is right on or after the gate. So why is Military Base different. And the foliage and terrain around that loading point also looks as if the player isn't supposed to be there, beyong map limits. So please put the loading point on the gate.

Maybe it was moved there because npcs got stuck at the gate, rather than remodelling the map?

And the second thing that makes me mad is the mouse speed. Even on maximum setting the pointer is very slow in menus. Please make it at least twice as fast when accessing menus and inventory.

The third thing is the inventory. Scrolling is not very responsive. And if the mouse pointer goes off the scrollbar while I drag it, scrolling stops. Also, when scrolling down, it is impossible to click on the items at the very bottom. They just don't respond to clicks. And after you use click somedting, the inventory scrolls back to the beginning, which is annoying if I want to unload all the guns that are in my bag.

Bes dialog keep repeating itself.

Mission to kill all the Duty Squad at Warehouse is screwed up. Mission will not end when all Duty Squad are killed. Previously when (2nd time) I entered Warehouse one of the Duty guys got mauled by two wild bores. I suspect this mission is still assuming there is one left to kill at the farmstead. Freedom squad (after finishing off the Duty Squad) go back to wait point outside farmstead. Max does go back to the bridge inside the base where we got our first briefing. (The destroyable wall!! can be brought down with a power stable from the knife! again).

Zombies can still run..oh and jog too.

The only bad issues I ever had with STALKER was with v1.0001 and the trader's door being stuck.

what I've found out so far is this:

- yes, zombies still run from grenades. You can test this in Yantar at the chopper crash site, where 5 - 6 zombies can be found standing next to the wreck. Throw a pineapple in their midst and watch them scatter.

- the side quest to kill the bandit Poker, the one you get from Voronin at the duty base, still does not work. Here's what happened to me: the little mission arrow on my PDA pointed to Agroprom instead of the Dark Valley, where Poker is supposed to be. As soon as I entered Agroprom, the arrow pointed back to the exit. And Poker can't still be found in the Dark Valley either.

- what pisses me off the most is the fact that savegames in Pripyat still CTD with that little "please wait" message after I pick up the decoder in the abandoned hotel.

- minor things, like the annoying scrollbar problem when you want to organize your stash(es) have not been taken care of at all.

All this makes me wonder if the devs even test their patches before releasing them.

The only good thing is that they in fact killed the grenade launcher bug where the shot was audible, but no grenade was actually fired after switching areas or loading a saved game.

And there is another good thing I can report: there is a German website that provides very fast downloads where you can get every game patch without having to register:

Funny thing, cause you can't use most mods with this patch. =P

1: Hilarious FPS hit after patch (No mods.)
2: Crashes with F6, darker graphics, bad pathfinding.
3:Vanishing bodies that did not happen before patch. Possibly due to new 'optimizations'?
4: Still get frozen quests.

Also, a lack of anything new. Nothing seems updated or redefined, the original game needs more then bug updates. Repair additions, more things to buy, etc. AND MAKE IT SUPPORT BOTH CORES 100% PLEASE. Lol.

Hmm they still haven't fixed that? I edited that out ages ago... Just change the "dialog_military" file in scripts and search for "wpn", you'll find that Max gives you a walther but ineed the quest is called desert eagle. So just replace "wpn_walther" with "wpn_desert_eagle"

A few other bugs:

There is something wrong with the minimap in Wild Territory near the exit to The Bar. The map suddenly ends with a black area and the player's white dot doesn't move into that area even though the player is moving beyond the boundary of the map. And sometimes there are stash icons in the black area.

The green objective icon doesn't disappear near Wolf's scouts in Cordon (they usually end up at the old warehouses). Even if they all eventually die. As if the mission hasn't been finished. The green objective icon should disappear after the mission is over.

I can't finish the quest to kill all bandits and mercs in Wild Territory by Barman. I've killed every one of them but the quest still doesn't finish. And every time I leave the map they respawn. There are also a bunch of Duty guys standing around doing nothing in the building where the first merc snipers were. I think they're supposed to go to Yantar, but they just don't move from that spot. They may be connected to the quest and why I can't kill all the bandits.

MODS and Tweaks

As mentioned earlier. If you have new problems after installing 1.004, the very FIRST thing I would do would be to cut and paste the gamedata folder outside of the STALKER folder and try again. I had problems and it was one or more of the mods causing it - because let's face it, they haven't been tested with 1.004!

Same goes with any tweaks you found out about and are still using, you should temporarily move them too and test the game.

The only way to do the mods is to wait and see if modders will let us know if their mod works, or they release an update. A quicker way is doing what I am doing, which installing one mod at a time and then playing the game for 10-20 minutes. So far I have installed the more obvious ones that you would expect to work, ie, Raw's Onion revamp 1.03 that fixes all the text, and the Detector mod 1.1 that adds detectors, the Rules of Engagement that make the enemies a little more human in their aiming and STALKER Quest mod that fixes and adds some quests. I haven't tried the big mod I have, STALKER ReDuxe, because I am reasonably confident it won't work.

Oh, by the way, if you are going to do the above, remember, install a mod, play the game, backup the gamedata folder, install the next mod, play the game, if all okay, backup the gamedata folder and install the next mod. If that mod causes problems, copy the gamedata back to the STALKER folder (keeping a copy of the original outside of the STALKER folder) and try the next mod. Eventually, all the mods that will work will be installed, you will know which one's don't, and you can just check out sites to see if those particular mods have been upgraded for 1.004.

Oh, and my bug, which I think I have had from day one is that when Wolf gives me the items after telling me about Nible, all I get is the gun and ammunition. I have found out I am supposed to get a knife, and I wonder what else I am supposed to get from Wolf that isn't appearing in my inventory. Can anyone tell me? I'd rather have the gun than the knife, but I wonder why I don't get the knife and think 'what else am I not getting?'! Not a big deal, but a worry nontheless!

Fix for F6 Quick Save Patch

I had problems with random crashes and also when quick saving. After reinstalling for the third time I decided to removed the NO-CD patch i had installed and so far everything seems to work, hope this helps

Ok, nevermind still not working, for the moment i have rebound the quick save key to f11. I'll see how this works ..... nope that doesn't work either. this is annoying

Anyone know how to change ot so that saved games with 10004 will work with 10003?

Fresh install of Stalker, apply 1.0004 patch, XP pro, 162.18 driver. X24800@2750/2048ram/8800gts
Much faster fps, smoother. So far just the pause in front of Garbage and low fps in Warehouses but that is solved by "alt tab" (I start task manager before game and leave it running) and then maximizing game again. When I do this during a pause I notice the "Kernal Times" have dropped to 0.
Noticed the wrong weapon for reward but the one I already had was better than either one. Had to fight my way out of bar because someone changed their attitude about me. Most of these "bugs" are what happens in real life. Someone short changes you, doesn't show up on time or in the wrong place, lies to you, "hey I got a good deal on a Guass rifle for you only!"
No crashes or problems with saves from starting new game to turning off Scorcher.

Mmmm. Not me

Must re point out that other than not getting the knife I am having no problems with anything with 1.004. My only problems were all mod created and solved on removing the gamedata folder.

I noticed immediately the fps increase. It allowed me to go from medium to highest details and distance to the farthest, so that was greatly appreciated!

I have an Athlon XP2400 with 1gb Ram and a FX6200 256mb card I am running XP Pro SP2. I am also using the NGO FX6*** tweaked version of 101.02 XP drivers that I downloaded from Guru3D. This was recommended in another thread in this forum with regards problems, so if you have a 6*** card consider doing this.

But it always begs the question, that if some people are having no problems, what's going on?!

9. When wanting to talk to an NPC I never get the "talk" text that shows up at the bottom of the screen even though I can still push "F" and talk to them. Same thing when quicksaving I push "F6" and it saves, but the text saying "quicksaving" does not show up anymore.

10. When I first enter the game and check my FPS I am getting a static 15 FPS, I push "Esc" go to the menu, go to advanced and just push "use these settings" without changing a thing and my FPS goes back to normal.

11. I dont know how they missed this but, there is no grass shadow at all. No matter how high you set it.

12. Alot more stutters. Just leaving the bunker at the start I get about a 4 second pause and then the stuttering in the game has increased about 3 or 4 times.





On a side note I think this 1.0004 patch made the compatability with Vista 3 or 4 times worse than it was.

I have updated the game to 1.0004, but I'm still having the random Barkeep's task to clear the snorks lair at the Dark Valley as I enter that place. Oh, wait! Now they are not snorks, they are bloodsuckers! And as I approached the marked area, I have found nothing around!
And I'm still having the random task to to defend the camp at the Garbage as I enter to that area , too!
And after killing dogs and pseudodogs, my PDA shows them as "friend"!

S-T-U-T-T-E-R-I-N-G still persistent and annoying. Regardless of what ANYONE thinks, the degree of stuttering is relative to the amount of gear that Marked 1 is carrying, I have proved that to myself many many times. GSC has fucked up with the relationship between the weight and stamina for same reason, thats why the stuttering virtually dissapears with certain mods which seem to remove that issue out of the game.

I removed the ABC mod which almost removed ALL the stuttering before I patched with 10004, and bingo -> same old same old S-T-U-T-T-E-R-I-N-G, allthough not quite as bad.

Zombies race around big time when a grenade is thrown at them (I thought I read that was something that was fixed).

Hey GSC, better brush up on the dual core support, because what you have done is not noticable so far?

There have been some positives from the patch though: some different quest, the game is definately smoother and works well when it ain't stuttering.

Regardless, it's better than BIOSHOCK PC version.

The only good thing is that they in fact killed the grenade launcher bug where the shot was audible, but no grenade was actually fired after switching areas or loading a saved game.

And there is another good thing I can report: there is a German website that provides very fast downloads where you can get every game patch without having to register:

You can find him in the unpatched game, too, but I had to turn off quest time limits and go back 4 times before I finally killed him there. They might have made that less random, but it's probably still happening. Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it's not a problem for others.

@Carnivore. This is for people with 1.0004 bugs, not a "My Computer Runs STALKER Flawlessly" thread. They need help, so let them post and if you have a possibly helpful suggestion, chime in by all means.

Kolwer's bugs while playing in single player-mode of the 1.0004 - version.


-Intro's sounds aren't syncing well yet.


-When you listen to Sidorivich on the start, his lips sometimes are not moving while talking.


-In the tutorial, while talking about the task's section, Sidorivich seems to skip something while talking. ( he interrupts himself )


-No chance to repeat the tutorial altough Sidorivich asks about that.


-On the start of the first quest where you have go meet with Wolf's men, the 2 of them called Dmitro Sharp and Gosha Bourgeois don't register as dots on the radar, you also can't talk to them until you talk to their leader and agree to attack the park together. If you tell him you want to go alone, they will stay stealthy from the radar. Their leader is active all the time however.


-Odd behaviour from npc's sometimes after loading a savegame ( aiming at the distance etc. )


-Old info in the diary keeps getting highlighted.


-Stash descriptions have grammatical errors sometimes. One stash at the starting place should read ''on the ceiling'' , not cellar.


-Some quests tags remain on the map even though they have been completed.


-Camp elimination quests should mark the targets also so it would be easier.


-Some tasks cannot be assigned as the current task you wish to do. (( cannot make the arrow show the way to them ))


-Bes's dialog goes on a loop, the guy who asks your help to defend the scrapyard at the Garbage from the bandit-attack.


-The Garbage still has a huge bandit presence


-Bodies still disappear sometimes

I'm still getting the same freeze when crossing the Pripyat bridge into the area where all the helicopters first appear. Everything works fine until I get the big building in the north in decent view range. Then, no matter what I do, the game will hard freeze. Can't ctrl-alt-del out.

You sure he was just lucky enough to avoid the anomalies? They are timed. There is a small chance he might have got through without touching any of the electro-anomalies. I presume you are talking about the first tunnel at Cordon near the collapsed train bridge?

I thought this might be a bug or something..so I moved up to warehouse and back to lukash - when spawned at warehouse...behind...yes 5 duyters ...watched them move up to the base through the breached wall and attack freedom (who were back at the original start positions). All the dutyers were wiped out. I saw lukash - told him about the 8 duyters - he said something like - me and max would take care of it - then the dialog added that I had wiped them out already. He offered me the snitch mission - completed that returned to lukash. I then moved out to Bar...where I was promptly attacked by duty!...I checked my faction detail... I had somehow joined Freedom!??!?!.

you see that particular stalker (yes in cordon) moved from direction of garbage towards sidorovich so he in no way could walk it without trigering them

I think i have figured out how the possibility to join Freedom works, when you the first time come to the military (warehouse) territory and watch the Duty guys kill the Freedom guys. When you then talk to Skull (he who examen's the dead body's) you answer negatively (the second dialog option) so they get enemies with you and start shooting at you, kill them and all other Duty's at the farmstead. Then you head up to the Freedom base and talk to Lukash and do the "snitch" mission and then you should belong to the Freedom faction, i don't mean just friendly...but you no longer is a loner you are a Freedom.

New patch

What is going on here installed new patch now i cannot play game for more than 5 minutes then totall lock up.If anything it has made the game worse vitually unplayable.I think it is time to give up on Stalker.
Maybe if they get the game to run without freezing crashing or locking
up i may come back to it.

If that is true and indeed possible then it is a new thing with patch 1.0004 and if you can do that with Freedom you should be able to do it with Duty too.

If you are using mods you cannot post errors about the game as the mod you are using could well effect the game negatively

Roger!...looks like im restarting then

Let you know how I get on...I still say the wild boar killing the dutyer on my 2nd visit to army warehouse screwed up the kill duty detachment main mission..

Well i think it is more like a bug/glitch in the game that always has been there, it happens some times and sometimes not...thats why some players have been able to join Freedom and some not.

It could just mean that the character is solely devoted to Freedoms cause even before joining them. Maeby it was actually meant to happen this way, the recruitment to Freedom?

-- what I have found so far --

1. I am getting the "F6 - quicksave" crash quite alot now, never did before.

2. I had a random crash to desktop when trying to access the games menu.

3. I am (when starting a new game for the first time) getting about a 5 second freeze when trying to exit the bunker in Cordon for the first time. I have never had this problem before.

4. I am getting random crashes now. For example, Just as I was about to enter the Garbage my game just froze. I have never had these problems before and all of a sudden they are happening.

5. My FPS seems to drop quite alot now when im running between bushes or trees. Again this happend at the border of Cordon & Garbage.

6. Because I get the "F6 - quicksave" crash alot I was thinking of saving via the game menu. The moment I hit the "Esc" key my game crashed back to the desktop. yet another bug I have never had before and now since 1.0004, I now have it.

7. When playing in Multi-Player and there is a strong wind, the grass almost jerks. I have not had this problem before or have never noticed it. I have not seen it in Single-Player, yet...

8. After killing the bandits in the first mission from Wolf, I have noticed that some of them just vanish. Never had this problem before with any of the other patches.

9. When wanting to talk to an NPC I never get the "talk" text that shows up at the bottom of the screen even though I can still push "F" and talk to them. Same thing when quicksaving I push "F6" and it saves, but the text saying "quicksaving" does not show up anymore.

10. When I first enter the game and check my FPS I am getting a static 15 FPS, I push "Esc" go to the menu, go to advanced and just push "use these settings" without changing a thing and my FPS goes back to normal.

11. I don't know how they missed this but, there is no grass shadow at all. No matter how high you set it.

12. Alot more stutters. Just leaving the bunker at the start I get about a 4 second pause and then the stuttering in the game has increased about 3 or 4 times.

13. I have found that when I load of the game and load my saved game (or any game) I am getting about 20FPS. When I go the the game menu, click on "options" and then click on "use" and go back the game my FPS doubles more more. However, the longer I play the game the more it drops, so if I do that again (what was said about) the FPS doubles again. Now this is all good and fine but I should not really have to do that. I have no idea why it helps the FPS or what you have to keep doing it but the game should not be like that. I have never known a game to require so much user messing around to get it to work. GSC really need to fix this problem as well. In-fact, I would say, above all else. Also it is not that it only gets lower as the game goes on, but the moment there is a stutter in the game my FPS drops by half. For example. In the bunker in Cordon. My FPS was about 45 - 50. I just moved back a meter, and as I moved forward I got a short stutter. The resualt was my FPS dropping to 25.
Fix this GSC, this is really too much now.

14. The game sometimes freezes/crashes when trying to open the inventory.

15. Trying to save games manualy via the menu crashes upon selecting which game you want to load.

The little ammo information in the lower right corner juts out of the frame when using 1650x1050 resolution.

Same applies to most text pieces in the interface, like the distance meter. It looks like the font is too big here.

That's my exact situation as well. Vista 32 bit sucked, but after going to Vista 64 Stalker runs GREAT at max settings on 1440x900.

Help game loads to late and enemies spawn next to me!

Ever since the 1.0004 patch the game loads enemies to slowly.
For example under the broken bridge where the army guys are at the start i can cross it and just as i do thats when the army guys spawn and start shooting me!
This is just an example the other part was when you have to help mole and the game does a fly over of the buildings i could hear gunfire but there was no one on the screen not until i ran right up to the buildings then every one just spawned out of nowhere.

Is there a fix for this because this sucks.

I bet this has been mentioned already,but i still have this weird mission bug in Cordon. When accepting the mission to kill the mercs attacking the village from Fanatic,after wiping them out you hear through the radio Fanatic saying something like "Well done,come over and we'll talk." but at the same time he is saying to the other stalkers "Ok,everybody get into positon,get ready." And after that,every stalker in the village go to their positions prepairing for the fight,AFTER i've already killed the mercs and completed the mission. Not a questbreaker,but annoying cause everyone in the village stays at those ambush positions after that.

Was walking through the tunnels of X16 labs was quitly sneaking through hoping to get a first shot at a snork that spawns behind a pipe didnt appear
till i was right on top of the pipe .

6. Because I get the "F6 - quicksave" crash alot I was thinking of saving via the game menu. The moment I hit the "Esc" key my game crashed back to the desktop. yet another bug I have never had before and now since 1.0004, I now have it. (not happening so much anymore since I got the Vista hotfix, but it still does from time to time, maybe a ratio of 3/10)

7. When playing in Multi-Player and there is a strong wind, the grass almost jerks. I have not had this problem before or have never noticed it. I have not seen it in Single-Player, yet...

8. After killing the bandits in the first mission from Wolf, I have noticed that some of them just vanish. Never had this problem before with any of the other patches.

9. When wanting to talk to an NPC I never get the "talk" text that shows up at the bottom of the screen even though I can still push "F" and talk to them. Same thing when quicksaving I push "F6" and it saves, but the text saying "quicksaving" does not show up anymore.

10. When I first enter the game and check my FPS I am getting a static 15 FPS, I push "Esc" go to the menu, go to advanced and just push "use these settings" without changing a thing and my FPS goes back to normal.

11. I don't know how they missed this but, there is no grass shadow at all. No matter how high you set it.

12. Alot more stutters. Just leaving the bunker at the start I get about a 4 second pause and then the stuttering in the game has increased about 3 or 4 times.

13. I have found that when I load of the game and load my saved game (or any game) I am getting about 20FPS. When I go the the game menu, click on "options" and then click on "use" and go back the game my FPS doubles more more. However, the longer I play the game the more it drops, so if I do that again (what was said about) the FPS doubles again. Now this is all good and fine but I should not really have to do that. I have no idea why it helps the FPS or what you have to keep doing it but the game should not be like that. I have never known a game to require so much user messing around to get it to work. GSC really need to fix this problem as well. In-fact, I would say, above all else. Also it is not that it only gets lower as the game goes on, but the moment there is a stutter in the game my FPS drops by half. For example. In the bunker in Cordon. My FPS was about 45 - 50. I just moved back a meter, and as I moved forward I got a short stutter. The resualt was my FPS dropping to 25.
Fix this GSC, this is really too much now.

14. The game sometimes freezes/crashes when trying to open the inventory.

15. Trying to save games manualy via the menu crashes upon selecting which game you want to load.

16. The PDA stats are totally messed up. It says I have killed almost 2000 Loners when in fact it wont be more than 15.

17. The Bandit spawn rate in the wild territory is really messed up. Sometimes they spawn really fast and someimes they do not spawn at all (where they should be)

18. I have seen dog's and other mutants just standing still off in the distance (maybe 150m from me) and they do nothing, only once I get to within about 50m of them do they move.

The Vista update fixed the crash bug for me, I was able to play quite a while but stopped it now. The reason is 10004 is not really different from 10001 with which I completed the game first.


- Enemies still detect me through walls
- NPCs spawn directly in front of me (I literary ran into a bunch of dog just
spawned on the street)
- NPCs still do not detect anomalies, the corpses of them pile up at certain
locations
- certain widescreen issues (out of the box text etc.)

Quite disappointing to be honest, gonna join now the waiting-queue for 1.1.

Possible vid restart problem

Could it be that this is an ATI-specific problem? I had it too after installing the Catalyst 7.8 driver on a Sapphire Radeon X1600PRO, but after re-installing the older 7.7 driver, it disappeared.
Whenever I load a saved game or move to another area, the graphics become much darker for a short time, but they reset to my adjusted values as soon as the saved game is loaded. Cat 7.8 seems to prevent that, and the framerate drops significantly with it.

By the way, the PDA stats section really is messed up. After a few game days and maybe 300 mercs and bandits less in the Zone, I had 188000 confirmed kills and more than 40000 mutants in there.

So far.

Completed thru dark valley, back thru Cordon and back to bar......

Only thing I noticed was the mission to help bullet was broken (went like this)
I got to the valley, Bullet was doing his chat to the wounded guy...
I started searching the bodies close by, Bullet talked to me, turned and ran.... I followed him to the spot where he's suppose to say something like "Go across the raod and hide".... Instead he said "You refused to help when I asked, no go" or something like that......

I headed to the spot where the 2 guards start out with the prisoner, but all that was there was a pack of dogs (no bodies)
Went to see if the other prisoner could be seen through the windows and when I spoke to him, he gave me the speach he gives when I freed him.....
Went down and freed him.... Got the same speach......

Am noticing hic-ups in movement up to several seconds (this is worse then before the patch) However have not gotten the black screen yet (but I haven't hit the warehouse district yet where I had most of the black screens before the patch)

Am not using mods in this game (am running the game using my mod on a different system and have run into the same identical problems so far)

Am playing using the -noprefetch.....

Load last save bug

I have noticed that "Last save" in the main menu doesnt allways load the last save for you.

Random mission bug.

After clearing the X16 lab mission and returning to yantar for a second time you may get a random mission to clear the area of zombies. The problem with this is that you cant get to the guy that gives you the award because he is in the Duty HQ and you can only enter Duty ground if you have spoken to Barkeep (after X16 mission) and he say something about Duty might have a job for you. (This was a problem for me and may be a problem for other first time players because i did not know that you had to speak to barkeep to be allowed into Duty HQ.)

A fix for this would be that this particular mission may only be activated after you have spoken to Barkeep comming back from the X16 mission.

I hope i was clear explaing this problem .

Give medkit bug

Some NPCs cant be given a medkit while they are down, the option for that action is missing when you talk to then. (even if you have a medkit)
I cant be 100% that this bug has the do with the NPCs them self or some other factor unless someone comfirms the list below.

The following NPCs cant be given a medkit:

Bes
German Rogue

The blue meter (armor condition?) in the inventory always show 100%.

Mission marker bug

Some mission markers wont go away even after clearing the mission.

List of bugged markers:

Marker still on some NPC in Cordon. ( marker info says "Wolfs scouts" )

"Get inside lab x16" marker still there.

"Find the way out of the underground" marker from the "Find Streloks groups Stash" mission still there.

NPCs spawn inside campfires alot. (or do they just walk in and die?)

well funny as in post 1 of this thread

i crash to desktop when i try to go to the garbage level also if i change my setting then try to go to garbage it will ctd the game and will revert the setting to the previous setting as if i had not change a thing
oh i know i have quite an old setup but it runs fine like playable not like the best you can get but 1024x768 and all at max

also i i try to go true to garbage level and crash my log in the shared forlder stays empty

Bugs that I've encountered

In garbage, hiding in a bus or tin shed and mutant dogs can poke their heads through the walls and attack me
In Rostok - Every time I enter the Wild territory, I get assigned a new random task
In Rostok - Wild Territory I often have a pack of Mutant dogs/Merc spawn right next to me. Happens if I'm next to the truck at the start of the level, or next to the truck after the first lot of snipers. Needless to say, I usually die. (
Clipping seems to be a bit off. Enemies can poke their bodies through objects if they are at the corner/edge of an object (wall, stack of concrete etc)
At Chernobal, I have enemies looking and firing away from me (90 degrees) yet the bullets still hit me. Looks really odd especially when they are using a gauss rifle
Bodies will sometimes disappear when they die
Stashes marked on the PDA will sometimes come up empty. Happened a couple of times trying to get the grenade launcher at Rostok. Had to re-load the level from the start (ie after finishing Yantar) to get the launcher.
At Yantar, Lab X16 - have had Snorks spawn in mid air. Happens if I'm on the crane rails in front of the warehouse, or on the roof by the caged in area. They seem to spawn at the same altitude that I at.

Happily, few crashes, although I do occasionally get kicked to the desktop. I can switch back to the game OK

One additional thing, the spawning bug where NPC's appear in front of you does happen in underground areas too. I'm just roaming around in X16 and snorks/zombies appear out of nowhere.

Hmm I just had my first crash ever in Yantar when Kruglov and I were moving to take the measurements for the emissions.

Otherwise I have similar problems as above with enemies clipping through walls and firing (A Spetnatz who was kneeling a floor above me had his AN-94 barrel through the floor and was shooting at me, I know they're special forces but I don't remember that in training... D= )

Disappearing bodies can be weird, as can weapons falling through the ground. First LR-300 totting Merc I encounter in Garbage, drop him with a shot to the head run up to claim my prize.... no rifle, not for a fifty metre circle and believe me... I looked!

Zombies still running from grenades but I just throw more grenades anyway...

The spawning is ok at times, keeps things interesting but please put some sort of proximity level, say enemies cannot spawn within fifty metres of the player. With my edited files it only takes two-three shots to be killed from a rifle even with a Loner Stalker suit. Having Mercs spawn three feet in front of me can be a bit hairy at times.

First CTD

First ever CTD. In Pripyat, on second tour after roaming back to Bar and Yantar, went left this time and met little resistance except for packs of marauding predators. Made it back to the "Idol" and then headed for the left entrance to the stadium because I missed the "halftime show" the first time and then Hello Desktop.
Also on first trip to Pripyat I dropped ammo in the Hotel on the right only it fell through the floor and I found it later downstairs.
Windows XP/ 2048 ram/ nForce 4 MB/ 640vram 8800GTS 162.18 on hard drive 1 with pagefile on a separate partition.
Games on hardrive 2 also with another partition for more pagefile.
Pagefile partitions are on the first (fastest) part of the drive.
No stutters. Pauses in front of Garbage and outside Warehouses.

Returning out of X18 when the .mil attacks:

Had 3 cases where the .mil guys rose up thru the floor.
One got up on the roof (never seen an NPC climb a ladder).
Heard shouting below me (on top floor, ladder access) and went to roof and back after some sniping and leaving the roof walked out of the tiny room that houses the ladder and 2 .mil were waiting. I hid, leaned out and they were gone but still yelling at me, stayed leaned out and they rose thru the floor almost joined at the arms.

Not really a bug, I think, but annoying: Weapon of the Dutyer was in the Agaprom Underground in the electro anomolies. Condition @0% and could not give him a TRS or shotgun (both perfect) to get it back. Did not even show on his person...hummm.

Here is the BIG ANNOYING Bug: Empty stashes that are marked as having stuff in areas that I've just visited for the first time.
Maybe part of spam reduction, but what I'd like is a limit to # of weapons (say 10) and none on ammo (gimme, gimme, gimme).

The main problem I have noticed is that npc's and some mobs do not spawn until you are either running past where they should be or they spawn as you approach.

This has happened in the Bar and dark valley. Nothing in screen then all of a sudden 8 npc's will appear right next to you.

has only started happening since this patch and I am on Vista (32-bit) with an intel core2 and a geforce 8800gts (all patched to latest drivers)

Savegame still crashing in Pripyat right after spawn. Started over at autosave and ran all over the place going left then stadium then to hotel. Finally snorks got me and new savegame crashed also. Tried the old "fix for pripyat savegame" patch but did not work with 1.0004

the game woint run just like the 1003 Patch why even have 1004 it bringings more bugs than 1003 and it only FIX things for for MP how fucktup is this ? A FIX for MP is making bug for SP ? just really pist off here the reports off the F6 and ESC bug go back to JUNE and its still not fix THIS JUST FUCKT UP

The memory leak is still present in the game. I installed the game and applied the patch in hope that the leak was gone but it isnt

Losing grenades in the grenade launcher.

When I equipped a grenade launcher on a TR 301, I loaded it, found a better conditioned TR301, dismounted the grenade launcher on my OLD TR 301(still loaded with a grenade) then mounted it on my new TR 301, I lost the grenade that I had loaded in it.

I also tried unloading the TR 301 with a loaded grenade launcher and it only unloaded the ammo for the gun, any chance we could make it so unload, unloads all ammo regardless of where it is?

There's one waiting for me crossing from Agroprom to Garbage who kills me before I can grab a weapon and turn around
Funny thing is that I can kill him from the Agroprom while he is on the other side of the fence, but he still kills me when I enter.

This patch actually got me back into STALKER because of the increase in performance (On my system at least).

I was trying to beat every objective in the game on master difficulty, but I couldn't due to a few bugs. One of which, had an objective telling me to talk to someone, so I went to the marker was on the map, but it was pointing to a dead person.

I also had to do the mission where you kill the sniper for the duty guys about 5 times just because the duty captain (I forget his name) kept getting killed.

Basically, when people that you need alive for a mission die, have the mission fail right there, so you don't spend hours wondering what's going on.

All stashes empty themselves after a (quick)save/load it seems ... and I also suspect that stash-info on PDA's gets wiped.

I seriously consider going back to 1.0003 ; 1.0004 only offers me the same and even new bugs and none of the promised improvements like fixed missions, better fps and use of the dual core.

PROBLEM WITH AVG ANTIVIRUS AND THE NEW PATCH 1.0004

The file XR_3DA.exe was identified as a virus. I can´t restart the game.

I have never faced this problem before the installation of v1.0004 patch.

Yes, different bugs that I read in this thread happened to me.
Now I have a shadows problems and I test ATI drivers 7.3, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 7.7, 7.8 but the result is the same, time loosed.
One ridiculous bug, but really ridiculous is the Statistic I can't believe it, GSC haven't idea what are they doing.
Maybe some day in the far future GSC resolve the STALKER bugs,
but I don't think so, they are invest the time in the expansion
'Clear Sky' and of course with a lot of bugs that players must resolve
in the official S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky.
I hope that no player buy Clear Sky until GSC resolve the first one.

I have the same problem, After patching to 1.004 I'm getting this error and it makes the game unplayable (i.e. It won't even start) Ive played with Vanilla and 1.003 multiple times through with no errors like this until now, after a clean reinstall it works again but if you patch it back to 1.004 it breaks again. GSC need to contact AVG

Bardak has fixed most of the 1.0004 bugs in his mod. He really did a fantastic job! You can find a link to it in the Mods Discussion forum. The only things I have noticed that he missed is the goofed up dialog with Bes and the pda statistics error (where your kill counter is waaaay too high). I used his new mod a a base for mine... FatRaps FPS Fun Pack... and it worked out really well. I did manage to fix the dialog with Bes (thanks to NatVac!!) Anyhow, if you want to get rid of most of these 1.0004 bugs, you might want to try bardaks mod (for a "vanilla" game) or mine (which has a lot of gameplay modified) Hope this helps!

This is a problem with the anti virus program it self. I had this happen in other games and I had to report the problem to the anti virus company and wait for the next update.

I don't recommend deactivating the L2 cache, xLOOMx, although that's a clever way to slow it down enough to get past the problem. Unfortunately that slows everything down, and slows it down a lot.

You could try re-installing and patching only up to 1.0003. Only older saved games (prior to 1.0004) will work, though.

Goner, there's a bug with secrets given to you that are within the "switch_distance" limit from you; default is 150 meters. You have to get the contents from the stash after you get a local secret, or they will not be considered "real" by the game after a save.

Secrets farther than 175 meters and secrets for other levels are okay.

Decane, I've got some bug fixes in addition to the ones bardak has implemented in his "Patch 1.0004 Bug Fix Attempt". I'll discuss some of those in the Mod Discussion thread you started...

Great! I'm looking forward to it! PS: There are also lots of broken missions other than the ones I've listed, for example the quest to kill Father Diodor. I've never even been given the option to do it, but it seems such a mission exists: http://stalker.heroesradio.com/OptionalMissions.php#Sidorovich

In that link you'll find a lot more broken missions by the way. I had a preliminary list in my huge bug list thread, but deleted it because I couldn't confirm that they were broken. Nevertheless, I'd guess there's at least 10 broken missions (ones that never show up).

Hey...i can modify the patch 1.0004??????
to remove him:

to other people it is crashes to him for that reason:

The second CPU stream it is a L2 Cache memory? My L2 Cache its a 256K FSB.
Or these speaking of dual Core????

delayed or no spawning

Hi !

I am playing Stalker on my laptop under Windows Vista 32 bit a core 2 duo 7300 2.0 Ghz processor and the 8600M GT 512 Mb graphics card (with "Mobileforce M6 Stock" driver) and 2 gb ram.

After I installed patch 1.004 I have had some serious bugs.
Theee bugs where not present in the 1.000 version of the game.

At first the game krasched every 5 minutes, but after I installed a recent Windows Vista uppgrade (an upgrade that prevents the computer of crashing when running out of virtual adresses and memory.) this problem vanished.

However, now I have another major bug.
Almost everything in the game is "spawning" too late or not at all.
When I open boxes, there is nothing there because the items has not spawed yet, and I can walk past almost all enemies before they spawn.
I have to wait for people to spawn so that I can meet them.
In the Aprom underground I only hear the mutant scream, but there is no mutant to be found, and so on...

This bug really destroys the game.

I would very much appreciate all help I can get to resolve this problem !

Among the myriad of bugs and glitches that 1.0004 introduced or didn't fix, my top ranking list remains the same:

1- NPCs dying in the firebins.

2- NPCs dying in the firebins at a fast rate.

3- NPCs dying in the firebins at an exaggerated rate, creating hills of bodies.

4 - NPCs walking collectivelly into anomalies for a grup suicide cermony.


So obvious and idiotic are these bugs, that listed among the top ranking complaints pre-1.0004. When someone with a roof missing half of the tiles, repairs a small broken glass at the window to escape the rain....?????

What was the important fixes that GSC introduced with 1.0004, because I don't see any?

I can't confirm "everything", but there are definetely some spawning problems. The Bandit base in wild territorry was almost completely empty, I went in, and suddenly Bandits were spawning directly in front of me.

LATEST VERSION OF BUG LIST!!! (as of 22.9.2007)

Bugs (still) present in the Official Patch v1.0004 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:

* Upon entering the 100 Rads Bar in the Rostok, the bouncer by the entrance constantly repeats "I said come in, don't stand there" when the player is standing within 5 meters of him. It is very annoying, so I would be appreciative if the amount of time it takes for him to repeat it were greatly reduced, or even better, just have him only say it once each time the player enters the bar.

* The player becomes an enemy to everybody if he/she kills a stalker from a hostile faction in the Bar location.

* In menus where there is a scroll-bar (when for example placing items into your stash, or taking them out), the scroll bar flips to the top after one double-click. This is extremely annoying if you have lots of loot in the bottom: You need to grab the scroll bar each time and scroll down again, which is nerve-recking. Also, the scroll bar itself doesn't function very well....

* .... Because when you grab it, you only need to go 1cm to the side of the bar for it to stop scrolling. Like this:

* New Mercenaries spawn every single time after I have left and re-entered the Wild Zone in the Bar Area. It doesn't matter whether I re-enter immediately or after 2 weeks; they always spawn at the same places each time, and in quite large amounts. This is very annoying if you have to make multiple journeys there, when for example looting. It is also unrealistic, and takes away from the immersion quite a lot. I also somehow have a feeling that this "bug" isn't only limited to that particular area. Please do something about this, preferably making the respawning of NPCs be independent of whether or not the player has exited the area, and only have it rely on the respawn timer.

* The repetition of certain lines of speech extends far beyond just the bouncer mentioned first in this post. Please fix this, as it's very immersion-breaking to hear "get out of here stalker, we don't let just any loser go through", "get out of here stalker, we don't let just any loser go through", "get out of here stalker, we don't let just any loser go through", etc. etc. again and again. (This particular line of speech gets repeated by the Duty Soldiers in front of the gate to the Bar Area in the Garbage Area)

* Sometimes NPC's block doorways, and if they do not move, there is nothing you can do about it except shoot them (which you shouldn't have to do to get them to move), or reload a previous savegame because you cannot push the NPC even the slightest bit by walking against him in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. A good example of this is the ecologist in the green suit at the Yantar bunker: I have not once gotten in the bunker without having him block the innermost door. I'm always forced to load a savegame to get him to realize that all the Zombies have been dealt with! (he's always in a crouching position with his gun pointed outside, usually through the door, so I'm assuming he still thinks there are hostiles in the area)

* When trying to sneak, you are detected by the enemy. You then try to load a savegame where you have not yet been detected, but your enemy/enemies will act as if he/they have seen you! Even though you just loaded a save where they have not yet done so! For the record, this bug is still present in patch v1.0004.

* Some monsters show up as being "friendly" after having killed them.

* Enemies sometimes shoot through walls.

* In some maps, there are farmhouses which have ladders you can climb to reach the top floor of the farm house. Going up is not a problem, but sometimes there is a wooden ledge blocking admission to the ladder when trying to get down. The player then needs to jump out of the farmhouse, and sometimes even this doesn't work. Please fix this collision bug.

* A small spelling error spotted in the "Duty Illusion" Local Folklore diary entry: In one part of the entry there is written: "...that'll be the end of me I though...", even though it should be "thought" with a "t" in the end. See image below.

* Zombies still run away from grenades, even after applying patch v1.0004! To test this, go to Yantar and throw a grenade near the batch of Zombies residing near the helicopter. See them running away? I do.

* Upon entry to Yantar, a random mission of "Destroy the Zombie" often pops up. This mission is given by Voronin.

* Upon entry to Yantar, a random mission of "Wipe out the Snork camp" often pops up. This mission is given by the trader ecologist in the bunker.

* When you click on the encyclopedia in your PDA, and read the entries, they go from green "unread" status to white "read" status. However, when you save and reload, the entries are green again! The game does not remember that they have been read.

* Reputation randomly goes to "Terrible", even when actions warranting such a status have not been undergone.

* When having nightvision enabled, picking up another type of armor results in the nightvision being turned off.

* When having nightvision enabled and entering a new area, it no longer activated after changing to the new area.

* The green map markers for the following places won't go away after completing their coinciding missions:


- Lab X-16

- The Bandit base in Cordon

- The Duty base in Rostok (bring the Bulldog 6 from the village)

* PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THIS BUG! IT DESCRIBES A BROKEN MISSION! Poker is still nowhere to be found. I had a savegame at the Bar, when I updated my game from v1.0003 to v1.0004. I then walked into the Duty base in Rostok, to undertake the Poker mission from General Voronin, and went to the Dark Valley where Poker was supposed to be located. Well, I slaughtered the entire bandit base, triple-checked every location, even shot my gun empty to make noise and attract attention from enemies, but Poker was nowhere to be found. Also, when I clicked on the button in my PDA which normally shows the part of the map where the mission related NPC's are located, it pointed me towards Agroprom. What the heck? So I went to Agroprom, and guess what? Poker wasn't there! Once again, I triple-checked every location, including the underground.

* PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THIS BUG! IT DESCRIBES A BROKEN MISSION! I was doing a few quests at Agroprom, one of which was a 'bandit elimination' quest, and the other one was a 'defend the camp against bandits' quest, both of which I had received from the Barkeep. So, anyway, I did the quests, and then proceeded into the Agroprom underground tunnels to pursue my journey of meeting the Doctor. Once I got underground, I got a message "destroy the bandits at Agroprom", which was a mission for Sidrocovich. Well, after I had dealt with everything underground, I went back up only to find that I was unable to complete the quest because all the bandits were already taken care of (since I had just done the same quest for the Barkeep)... Please make it so that the undertaking of a quest like this is only possible after the game has checked that a sufficient amount of killable NPCs exist in the game world. Also, I have found this particular bug to be present even if I have not undertaken the "eliminate the bandit camp" quest from the Barkeep!

* PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THIS BUG! IT DESCRIBES A BROKEN MISSION! Upon entry to the Army Warehouses, a random mission of "defend the border" pops up, but this in itself isn't a bug. What is however a bug, is that the mission is broken (it cannot be completed). Killing all the mutants fails to trigger a "mission complete" notice... Nothing happens.

* When hugging the wall near the first trader's layer, this is what happens at a particular spot:

This can also be replicated in the case of wooden planks blocking admission into a room (in for example a house in the newbies' camp) by walking against them. (For example, the room in the noob village at the Cordon)

* The "Doctor" has a few polygon spikes coming out of his finger in the cutscene at Strelok's stash, and no, those are NOT graphical artifacts. Nowhere else does it do that in the game, and it's done that every time I've played that spot. Others have confirmed this bug.

* Patch v1.0004 has introduced some very strange spawn issues. Today I did the quest to save Professor Kruglov in the Wild Terrirory, and on my way back to the bar (still in Wild Territory), I came across a group of Duty soldiers. Okay, nothing wrong with that, but... When approaching the exit of Wild Territory which leads to the bar area, a huge pack of assorted mutants suddenly spawned out of nowhere. There were dogs, pseudodogs, snorks, bloodsuckers and rats in the pack of mutants, and I'm telling you, that was one huge pack! I'm talking over 30 creatures! This has never happened before with patches v1.0001 or v1.0003. Another time, I encountered a pack of about 15 dogs which spawned right behind me when I entered Garbage via the Dark Valley.

* Random "Defend the camp" and "Destroy the bandit camp" missions still pop up upon entry to the Garbage. Also Wild Territory now suffers from a random "Eliminate the bandits and mercs" mission. Seriously, either remove the random pop-up missions altogether, or make it so that you can receive the reward from someone nearby, for example one of the stalkers at the warehouse in the Garbage, which you usually have to defend. It's annoying beyond belief to have to travel all the way back to the Cordon just to receive 1000RU for some random mission you didn't even voluntarily undertake.

* Bodies sometimes suddenly disappear, but they can still be searched by pressing "E". They momentarily become invisible, but when they are searched, they become visible again.

* Grass shadows no longer work after installing patch v1.0004. (I'm assuming this is a bug since it wasn't included in the release notes for the patch)

* The reward for the "Kill the snitch" quest received from Freedom is incorrect. The quest giver will say that he will give you Black Kite, but you receive some other pistol instead. (taken from another person's post)

* The "Shell" artifact is wrongly named "Battery" in the game. The actual Battery artifact constitutes a reduction in shock damage, while the "Shell Battery" constitutes a reduction in burn damage.

Crash is game stopping as user created saves are corrupted.

After installing patch 1.0004 only the Autosaves are OK, saves I do manually, both Quick saves and saves I give a name are corrupted and crashes the game to the desktop while in the Syncronizing fase of loading the savegame. This is quite annoying as the game keeps crashing close to the theater in Pripyat where the Monolith have their camp so currently I'm unable to progress in the game.

Re-installing and patching the game to version 1.0004 does not solve the problem.

The bug submit tool does not work either. If I can get a mail address I could mail the bugreports from the STALKER-SHOC - logs folder.

Bugs

1) Even though the readme says zombies no longer run from grenades ... well, they sprint like Carl Lewis in my game. Very funny but annoying.

2) Freedom guards walking in the air between Sniper Towers. This is just plain bizarre.

3) If I have like 5 main rifles in my inventory, I cannot unload/drop the bottom one when I open the inventory. I have no idea why, but it just acts as if there is no object there.

4) Since installing v1.0004, I am noticing dead bodies are taking a lot longer to disappear. This is causing major slowdown when entering areas of heavy warfare where I have killed loads of people (ie, Garbage).

Maybe more, will edit when I remember.

Hi all,
My first post: I single play only:
Patch 1.0004, I can still get another stash from a previously used dead body.
Wild territory runs at 6 frames per second. It started in the far end mercs section and has now moved to include all of wild area. All other maps run at 70/100 fps. I play this game without finishing it because I love the battles with mercs. The only good thing about 1.0004 is the new armor. Does anyone have this problem?

I loaded an earlier save and there are no problems. Weird! When the frame rate drops, the sound is also extremely bad. Could it be a sound problem?
Now, if an earlier save plays okay, could there be a bug in the saves that show the problem. It can't be the game if an earlier save works okay.
Edit: I found a clue in the forums. Every time i shot the bad guys they dropped a weapon. A thousand bad guys left a lot of weapons around. I did a litter pickup and the frame rate is now normal.
I also get the sticky door in Cordon. All I can do is load an earlier save.

I've had problems too, but not like yours. I was actually wondering if you know whether or not you have to install the previous patches before v.104. I noticed you went straight to the latest, as did I. I wonder if that is the cause of some of my problems.

During Garbage level lots of temporary freezing and lag, I have as of yet to play the level on low settings, everything was smooth on Max settings for half the game but got steadily worse. I kicked it down to high settings but the problem persists if only to a lesser extent.

One crash, after exiting the Red Forest lab and killing everyone from inside the tunnel before hopping into the train car and exiting, upon stepping into the car, the game crashed--no action taking place, it simply crashed.

-- what I have found so far --

1. I am getting the "F6 - quicksave" crash quite alot now, never did before.

2. I had a random crash to desktop when trying to access the games menu.

3. I am (when starting a new game for the first time) getting about a 5 second freeze when trying to exit the bunker in Cordon for the first time. I have never had this problem before.

4. I am getting random crashes now. For example, Just as I was about to enter the Garbage my game just froze. I have never had these problems before and all of a sudden they are happening.

5. My FPS seems to drop quite alot now when im running between bushes or trees. Again this happend at the border of Cordon & Garbage.

6. Because I get the "F6 - quicksave" crash alot I was thinking of saving via the game menu. The moment I hit the "Esc" key my game crashed back to the desktop. yet another bug I have never had before and now since 1.0004, I now have it. (not happening so much anymore since I got the Vista hotfix, but it still does from time to time, maybe a ratio of 3/10)

7. When playing in Multi-Player and there is a strong wind, the grass almost jerks. I have not had this problem before or have never noticed it. I have not seen it in Single-Player, yet...

8. After killing the bandits in the first mission from Wolf, I have noticed that some of them just vanish. Never had this problem before with any of the other patches.

9. When wanting to talk to an NPC I never get the "talk" text that shows up at the bottom of the screen even though I can still push "F" and talk to them. Same thing when quicksaving I push "F6" and it saves, but the text saying "quicksaving" does not show up anymore.

10. When I first enter the game and check my FPS I am getting a static 15 FPS, I push "Esc" go to the menu, go to advanced and just push "use these settings" without changing a thing and my FPS goes back to normal.

11. I don't know how they missed this but, there is no grass shadow at all. No matter how high you set it.

12. Alot more stutters. Just leaving the bunker at the start I get about a 4 second pause and then the stuttering in the game has increased about 3 or 4 times.

13. I have found that when I load of the game and load my saved game (or any game) I am getting about 20FPS. When I go the the game menu, click on "options" and then click on "use" and go back the game my FPS doubles more more. However, the longer I play the game the more it drops, so if I do that again (what was said about) the FPS doubles again. Now this is all good and fine but I should not really have to do that. I have no idea why it helps the FPS or what you have to keep doing it but the game should not be like that. I have never known a game to require so much user messing around to get it to work. GSC really need to fix this problem as well. In-fact, I would say, above all else. Also it is not that it only gets lower as the game goes on, but the moment there is a stutter in the game my FPS drops by half. For example. In the bunker in Cordon. My FPS was about 45 - 50. I just moved back a meter, and as I moved forward I got a short stutter. The resualt was my FPS dropping to 25.
Fix this GSC, this is really too much now.

14. The game sometimes freezes/crashes when trying to open the inventory.

15. Trying to save games manualy via the menu crashes upon selecting which game you want to load.

16. The PDA stats are totally messed up. It says I have killed almost 2000 Loners when in fact it wont be more than 15.

17. The Bandit spawn rate in the wild territory is really messed up. Sometimes they spawn really fast and someimes they do not spawn at all (where they should be)

18. I have seen dog's and other mutants just standing still off in the distance (maybe 150m from me) and they do nothing, only once I get to within about 50m of them do they move.

19. I have found that the Garbage area stutters and lags ALOT. Most of this happens when you are in the first are of the garbage stopping the first bandit attack. However this problem seems to be spread over the whole area. This is NOT present in any of the previous version of the game. Only 1.0004

Should we even bother posting all bugs ?? I mean look at all the problems in this section... tons of bugs CTs, crashes glitches performance issues etc.. no way in hell they can fix 1/4 of all thoose submitted its impossible the problem is the entire engine is crap coded, kinda reminds me of valves source engine.

And all thoose weekly or should i say monthly updates never says anything about fixing the SP only shit mp fixes like anyone cares for the multi anyway.

Are these BUG reporting threads just another marketing find to keep sore users around? Don't they know that these tricks are old story or Ukraine lives in the "zone"?

With the amount of bugs reported, GSC should proceed on daily updates of whatever big or small.


On the bugs front:

The automatic mission "Protect stalkers at the garbage ..." pops up when you do not have access at the bar YET. !!!!!

One idiocy upon the other makes me wonder about brain health of those GSC devs. Too much exposure at the Schorcher maybe .

Deleting all savegames and starting all over solved the "Usercreated saves are corrupted" problem.

Have reverted back to patch 1.0003 though as the game started crashing in new places like entering the attic (or loft) of the right building in the Bandits Factory in the Cordon. This happened while helping Wolf's men fight the bandits.

BTW, as of now it looks like cellar has to be understood as attic or loft and not somewhere in the basement as it actually means.

Besides that I have many of the same bugs as everyone else but I don't see any reason to repeat them.

The level.hom level occlusion maps are missing for both l10u_bunker (the brain scorcher bunker, AKA X19) and l12u_sarcofag (the first Chernobyl NPP underground level).

This means that a) they are aware of you when you fire a gun, no matter where on the level; and b) they can shoot you through the walls.

Or is that a feature?

Well, I haven't read the whole thread 'cause it would take too much time. I just want to mention a few things that might be buggy, or glitchy, or whatever you want to call them. I call them annoyances sometimes.

--- Sometimes the sound volume is extremely lowered (after reloading a quicksave) and some sounds are just missing. When entering another level/area it seems fixed.
--- NPCs sometimes get in passageways and block you off (or a door like in science lab in Yantar)
--- friendly/neutral NPCs' aggressive movement forces you out of cover when they go close sometimes allowing the enemy to shoot you
--- sound of wild animals sounds as if it's close but they are really far away: it confuses
--- FPS has dropped a lot
--- the choppiness has increased a lot

According to the claim that the bug trap has been fixed... It still doesn't work for me. I press "Sumit" and it quits responding. I do have one mod but it's the trader all items mod. I have many of the other glitches ppl have mentioned as well. I did notice that the breakable metal blue/white boxes spawn the insides below themselves occasionally, in army warehouses the VSS Vintorez is in the floor instead of on top, and occasionally the marked stashes do not have anything in them or they did and the stuff dissappeared. I also can't load my last quick save. It keeps crashing after it syncs w/ client

Prypiat level is screwed beyond imagination. No mater how you approach the mission solution, near Monolith HQ it will crash with 100% certanity. For my setup, it was very rare with 1.0003.

Not a bug per'se, but something that should be "fixed". All monsters that are in STALKER (with the exception of the dogs, theres bloody loads of them already) ALL mutant spawns should be increased by 150%, NPC spawns lowered by 25%, and each level should be hoast to many more mutants. IE; at escape it shouldnt just be dogs, flesh and boards, but also some zombies, a few roaming controllers and maybe a bloodsucker or 2.

I'll just copy and paste my last post and add to it.

Heres a problem, patch 1.0004 sucks ass in general and overall. I pray to god that the reason for the jump to 1.0006 is because GSC/THQ know this and are rectifying it as well as fixing other stuff. Also, increase mutant spawns and make them free-roaming for crying out loud! Stealth is also impossible in patch 1.0004, I modified my knife so it makes ZERO NOISE (and registers as such on the "noise" meter) and somebody STILL somehow heard me! The level after the sewers is also properly screwed up, if you die in that level, your narfed. NO savegame from that level will load, resulting in a crash to desktop. If you can get past that level without dying, the crashes in Pripyat will surely get you. Patch 1.0004 is worse than the inital release of the game, and thats saying something. Also sort out the god damn ATI problems in STALKER, these problems are not ATI driver based, they ARE STALKER based problems. Come on, you must of had ATI hardware to test on as well

Text not appearing

When playing Stalker ver1.0005 using nvidia 163.75 in vista 32bit
running at 1440x900.When i search dead bodies i hear the beep for the secret stashes but they don't display info about them in bottom left of screen. And the artifacts that have the little chemical beaker appear as the center on actor icon in my inventory.

1. Random crashings
- when i enter a new part of map, sometimes i just arrives into my desktop instead of the appropriate one.
- game sometimes freeze when I kill someone, i have to shut the game down from task manager.
2. Invisiable corpses
- some of them just disappear and when i use them, they appear again.
3. Unusable doors and lockers.
- Most of them i just can not open even if they R unlocked, but I can pick up items inside.
4. X16 (18?, the closer one, when you meet to those scientists and there are zombies around)
At start you cant climb down the ladders, you just fall down. Irritating.
5. The labor on east
I cant open the door which leads down to new level although i have never had any troubles with this before.
6. mission: save the stalker and run of with an other one from the prison
when i approach that building my mission already becomes completed.
7. save/load and Psi radiation (X16,18)
If you save a game while you are effected by this:
- when you load a game, you already get damage, before game starts and you cant do anything.
- when you load, it will double (or at least increase highly) the damage you recieve each period.
- its radius will also be extended to the whole level .
(note) also if you are damaged by it, plz disable blocking player running by this
8. sometimes when i am shot down, i just fly up and keep floating there . I made a SS but i dont know where it places.
9. mission: find the duty's weapon at the bar (the guy who is continuously complaining)
I am at the destination but i just cant find it, maybe i do it wrong? I couldnt find it in earlier patch too.

Unable to heal NPC

In one of my saved games, after i wiped out the bandits that attack the garbage and the rest of a little camp behind the garbage, when i go back to that area now there's friendly stalker's at the camp an always a stalker called Shurik Spider who i can never heal. When i click "F" i can only choose 'see ya". Has anybody else come across this.

Oh BTW I also notice that while playing the game your armor bar goes down like normal but if you press the (I) key you will see the armor(Blue) status as 100% even thought you might have like 90 - 99% armor !

I mean look at all the problems in this section... tons of bugs CTs, crashes glitches performance issues etc.. no way in hell they can fix 1/4 of all thoose submitted its impossible the problem is the entire engine is crap coded, kinda reminds me of valves source engine.

And all thoose weekly or should i say monthly updates never says anything about fixing the SP only shit mp fixes like anyone cares for the multi anyway.

1. I noticed that NPCs are spawning very rarely on 1.0004: when I want to run at full speed from Rookies Camp at Cordon to Old Factory or somewhere else there's nobody in there (no NPC's, no mutants). You cannot open boxes (there's no info when you got box on your crosshair) and stuff, but after few minutes they're being spawn right in front of me!

2. I used to get crashes very often on save (F6 or Save Game), but there was no BugTrap message after the crash, just my desktop. This ended when i turned off prefetching by adding a command line "-noprefetch" to stalker's shortcut. This also increased slightly performance (about 5% but it's noticeable), and prevents from crashes under Vista (I got Vista).

3. "-noprefetch" also increases level loading times and doesn't affects negatively entire in-game performance.

The game itself seems to be compatible with Vista and works even better on it than on XP.

Oh BTW I also notice that while playing the game your armor bar goes down like normal but if you press the (I) key you will see the armor(Blue) status as 100% even thought you might have like 90 - 99% armor !

The "inventory always shows full armor" bug is not a bug. That blue bar is your mental health in the game.

Look at it when you are playing on master difficulty and you find yourself in the presence of a controller. When you see the "brain" icon, check your inventory and you will see how much it has dropped.

When it hits zero, you are brain-dead, no matter how well the rest of your body is doing.

Click on your armor in your inventory screen and see the "green bar" condition indicator of the armor in the normal place.

Bought the game today. After installation and patch 1.0005 US,
Game randomly crashes, freezes computer, after 4-5 minutes of gameplay.

Specs.:
- Alienware x2 motherboard (2001)

- Helicopters remaining in Yantar
- Failure for save game option to save games in rare situations
- Helicopters being able to be killed with the knife in a single blow (yes, I found some helicopters low enough to the ground to be jump-knifed)
- AI triggers eg. going near south wall of Freedom base makes you hostile to freedom
- Lack of blowout mentioned repeatedly as marketing tatic
- Lack of open world options, mentioned repeatedly as marketing tatic
- NPC spawning issues, i.e entering Warehouses from Red Forest spawns : 2 bloodsuckers, 8 dogs, 8 fleshes on top of you = instant death (usually)
- Patches not addressing the problems listed above
- Development not addressing the problems listed above
- Beta testing not addressing the problems listed above
- Enemies sometimes fire through/move through solid objects

I'm done. Next time, don't release a game, not fix the issues, then just make a new one instead, when you should be fixing this. GSC loses fans and selling power, Clear Sky may be just as flawed, when it should be an expansion at best, or patch 1.0001 at worst.

Dude, this game has been out a while now. If you just discovered it, maybe you spend more time reading the forums.

There are mods that fix just about everything you mentioned.

You should temper your outrage with the reality that tons of us love this game, regardless of its faults. Some even loved it enough to fix those faults.

You can be upset with GSC all you want, but spamming the forum is infantile and ridiculous. This is the one thread where your list actually belongs - almost, as none of us are sure if you're actually talking about the 1.0004 patch.

But you're still not posting anything newsworthy.

Luigi Auriemma has reported some vulnerabilities in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or compromise a vulnerable system.

1) A boundary error within MultipacketReciever::RecievePacket() can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted packet with 0x39 as the first byte.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

2) An input validation error within NET_Compressor: ecompress() can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow via a specially crafted packet containing the byte 0xc1.

3) An error within MultipacketReciever::RecievePacket() can be exploited to cause the server to terminate via a specially crafted packet.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.0006. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Use in trusted network environments only.

Entering Red Forest, Emission - FREEZE, ctrl alt delete.

As soon as the message to get to safety comes up, the game freezes and my only course is to control alt delete when I find the the program is not responding. This has obviously halted game play at the moment. I just hope the next patch doesn't kill my save games!

No sound at all

I've just installed the game and patch 1.0005. I've also copied the OpenAL32.dll and wrap_oal.dll files to the bin folder.

The game is completely silent. There is no sound anywhere. Not in the logos at the start of the game, no sound in the interface and no sound in the cut scenes and the game itself.

What do I need to do to get the game working. Did I miss a step? I've been busy with it for about 4 hours now. I am getting annoyed.

Vista x64 Ultimate.
Phenom 9850 @ 2.8 GHz
4GB RAM
Asus M3A32 MVP DeLuxe
Club 3D 4870X2
Creative Titanium Pro

BTW: I've done the same with Clear Sky and everything seems to work there.

i figure out that the openAL.dll file is the 1 that kills your sound if you move that file so if you only move the other file you will still have sound.

but you will still have the stuttering as well. since i have not gotten rid of it yet. i have gone threw 3 gfx driver today alone trying to get rid of it. everything else is up to date.
