Yes - each corpse actually has a weight limit defined in the ltx files. If you go past that weight limit, you will find that the items end up exploding everywhere. I've had that happen to me on two occasions, and I posted a thread each time with some lovely pictures and videos of the event. It is an awesome sight...but it will bring your PC to its knees.

One of the threads is here:

Weird - the guy that posted after you has deleted his post. Anyway, use perma-corpses instead of stashes.

Hi ,

a word of caution , had one that exploded , ....

use a stash that has been found before , i always leave a single bandage in a stash so i know where they are with the minimap.

to speed up the system use a usb stick of 8 gig , that way you get at least 4 gig extra boost on the older systems.

what else can you do ?

click the properties of a disk under * computer * > hardware > select the drive and click * properties * > tab * policies *

select ' enable write caching on the disk ' you can also flag ' enabel advanced performance ' but this is only recommended if you have a powersupply (!!) this will speed up your system but back up all in case you ever have a powerfailure.

you can also tweak the reg a bit but email for that with soft and hardware details.

close all programs you dont need whileplaying like the internet , mail , messenger , etc , ....

play in full screen instead of a window helps also

just some tips that i used this week for some older comps under vista and 7 to play better.

have a nice day

Stutter/hangs in Vista 32 or 64?

This subject is mentioned elsewhere on these boards, but people looking for a stutter-fix might look in this thread for it. I discovered this fix when troubleshooting a troublesome mod, but has found it to have a positive effect in vanilla also.

I downloaded that explorer and looked at my EXE file, but it already had checked the >2GB memory. I run Vista64 and have the Steam client. I'm also using the Complete 2009 mod, and was noticing some pretty bad choppiness in Army Warehouses. I have 8GB RAM and a 512M graphics card. Previously I had been running in High graphics with full dynamic, but I cranked it down to Medium and that seems to have jacked up the framerate quite a bit in that area and still looks pretty decent.

I *always* get stutter in areas with a full stashbox. I had a bunch of junk in the box in the trailer at the northern exit from Garbage to the Bar and it caused ~5-10 second lags every time when I got near the flea market. I moved that stuff to the Bar, and it still lags by the flea market but not so much. Now it lags near the bridge into the Bar area where the dogs all run up and munch on you while you are lagged out and you are dead when it un-freezes. Heh.

So I shoot all the dogs every time and never make a run for it now. Surely somebody has a solution for the stash box lag problem?

Sound related stutter

Nobody here have been able to tell me why or how this works, but i am experiencing less hangs/stutter after reducing the "snd_targets" value to 16 instead of the default 32 in the user.ltx file. "snd_cache" should probably be set at 32.

Maybe my onboard sound ( laptop ) was struggling to keep up, but it sure works for me!

i havent tried your other post since i am on vista ultimate 64bit. but this sound setting got me thinking.

so i check mine and it was set to 16 so i set mine to 32 since i have a sound card. but it didnt help with the stuttering though.

this is the only game i have out of 40+ that has the stuttering and i cant even get rid of it.

really sucks since this is 1 of my most favorite games to play.

Stutter/hangs in Vista 32 or 64?

This subject is mentioned elsewhere on these boards, but people looking for a stutter-fix might look in this thread for it. I discovered this fix when troubleshooting a troublesome mod, but has found it to have a positive effect in vanilla also.

( I posted this on another forum as well )

This mod ( Newsa+Simbeon 3.0 ) is the biggest mem-hog i have experienced yet. I never had frequent out of memory CTDs before playing NewSim on this (struggling?) laptop:
2.5 GHz Intelcore2 duo T9300, 4GB Ram 332.6 MHz ( 8.5 GB virtual memory ), Geforce 8600M GT 512MB, Vista Ult.64bit.

However, after some troubleshooting on this specific issue, i´ve discovered a possible solution, that just might kill your "out of memory" -errorserrors...and greatly reduce the hangshangs...

For Win Vista 32 & 64 bit.

If your system has more than 2GB of availiable ( virtual ) memory, you need to make the OS avare of this. It is wrongful to assume that the Vista 32 and 64 bit OS is not limited by the 2GB virtual mem-limit. It is most likely set at 2048MB per default, which is more than enough for most ( SP ) games released to this date, but Stalker SoC/CS are exceptions to this rule, as they´ll eat up 1.6 GB just to load the vanilla game.

As you are used to being warned, it is indeed a good idea to create a backup of things such as the BCDEdit.exe (Vistas boot.ini file) before making any changes to it. ( read: Make a backup before toying with stuff like this! Just do it! )

And remember that "DooMike" can and will NOT in any way be held reponsible for any damage YOU do to any PC!

To create a backup: (from within the bcdedit.exe)
bcdedit /export "c:\temp\myBCDbackup"
To restore a saved backup:
bcdedit /import "c:\temp\myBCDbackup”

The fix:

[link] http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=89138 [/link]

[link] http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa906211.aspx [/link]

"Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> ( Right click on ) Run ( As Administrator ) It's important it says "This task will be created with administritive privileges"
Now enter: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072 ( anything above 2600 and below 3072 will do )

Simply paste :- bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072 and click run ( hit enter ), you'll see a black screen pop up and disappear again quickly... reboot and you should be set... it's kinda like using the /3GB switch in XP.

After that you have to restart Vista. This is important!

This has not only (apparently) cured my out of mem-CTDs, but has also greatly reduced the well known in-game stuttering/hangs in general. I have played New+Sim for 5-6 real-time hours straight without a single crash, where there would´ve been at least a handful before, and am currently testing other "troublesome" mods with the same positive result.

Hope this will prove to be useful to other Stalkers ... Lost in Oblivion.
