Heh - that it could be. I think it is just a stuff up by GSC though. Both SHOC and CS (Steam versions) had manuals available from their respective Steam app pages. The CS manual was also available from the right click menu inside Steam itself. CoP does not have either of these however. My first thought was that because they were offering the loyalty discount, they had to subsidise the profit loss somehow, and that could mean by not offering the manual - hoping to encourage Steam users to go and buy the retail version as well. However, they did not include CD keys with the Steam version either (the installer just writes the text %CDKEY% to the registry), so no Steam user can currently multi-play because the game asks for a CD key before you join a game (Steam are apparently chasing this up with GSC). Combine that with the trailer link on the Steam page not working when you want to download the trailer inside Steam, and I think you just have a messed up Steam release.

My fault though for buying it - I promised myself after the patching fiasco with Steam and CS that I would not get another STALKER game on Steam - and what do I do? In my defence though, new games here via retail (a physical box and CD via a bricks and mortar store) are about $100-$120 AUD. On Steam, the CoP with loyalty discount was $19.99 USD. Even with the disadvantage of currency converting AUD to USD - and Steam's awful regional pricing system and price gouging by certain un-named publishers - it was far cheaper to go digital than physical.

Anyway, angrydog posted a scan of the manual in the thread I started in the CoP general forum - titled "Question and Answer Thread for Steam Version (No Game Manual on Steam)". I see your name on the back cover, and this thread (https://www.gsc-game.com/main.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr3&thm_page=1&thm_id=1500&page=1&sort=ASC&sec_id=16) also indicates you were in the manual for CS as well. Awesome! GSC should be paying you for the work you've done on SHOC though, seriously.

I've also fired up SHOC + ZRP/MM again, will let you know of any problems I find.

Read the "Find your log file" section. Most "crashes" are fixable, but we need the info from the end of the log file.

The list is not quite complete, as I'm not finished going through the collection of changes and notes. Feel free to mention any you know that are missing from the list.

If you don't start a new game, there may be some minor problems with your saved games. The saves are modified versions of the all.spawn file present when you started your current game. Saved games based on mods might also include custom items from those mods, and support for them will need to be properly merged to avoid crashes.

No smack, BobBQ. I'm the only one that knew about that, and it's because I was lazy and cheap; the real fix requires including a separate textures\ui\map_aes_1.dds and another edit of game_maps_single.ltx. You will note that at least you can see yourself on the south half, and see more objectives marked on the NPP map than before.

The quick (and perhaps the easiest) fix is revert the l12_stancia_2 entry in string_table_general.xml to vanilla (which has "Chernobyl NPP" for both entries) for now.

The game_maps_single.ltx entries for both the south and north sides have the same bounding box. Ideally, they'd be half that size and the south map would only cover the south territory -- except that folks can go beyond the barriers in the north map to the south side. I guess that doesn't count, and I can ignore the fact that your marker disappears when you go beyond where the devs meant for you to go.

BTW: Thanks for the latest installment of Tiger's Spring. His ex might be more than she seems...

What I really want are all the dev tools for STALKER-SoC, and a lever long enough, and a place to stand. Then I could really fix the issues.

Folks, the workaround fix (so called because it acts on the symptom, not the cause, without additional user intervention) for "Kruglov, interrupted" is now just one line, executed when you talk to him.

Just insert this line after the line <text>bar_ecolog_crush_professor_start_91</text> in gamedata\config\gameplay\dialogs_bar.xml:

<action>xr_gulag.resetJob</action>

If Kruglov responds in dialog with, "Hurry, Marked One. Now is not the time to talk.", then the fix has been executed. Exit the dialog and just wait a short bit. You might need to step away from him, but that's it.

This fix will be in the next release. I'm planning a couple of releases, one a complete RC2a and the other containing just the changes over RC2.

So let's make a separate mod for dynamic levelchangers. You made it so it already adds them during the story progression, but let's also release a Readme, on how to add them by pressing L.

Also, would this mod work for CoP? If not, how do I make it work?

Yes, it should be.

This is a bit of an off-topic rant, which can be ignored (I just need to get it off my chest, lol). There are a lot of exceptions to that though for us Aussies. Some examples (all prices are in USD, this is the only currency Steam allows us to purchase in):
-Modern Warfare 2 is $89.99
-Metro 2033 (STALKER SHOC in all but name, lol) will be $79.99 when it is released.
-Borderlands, $79.99. It was only $49.99 upon release, until some weeks later 2k (the publisher), announced that they had discovered an 'internal error' which they claimed had resulted in the wrong price being used for us here. They then jacked up the price to $79.99 and then had the hide to claim that the new price was a 'discount'!
-Modern Warfare (the first one) is $49.99 on Steam for us - but only $29.99 if you are in the USA. I just love Steam's regional pricing (sarcasm meter explodes). At retail, this 2.5 year old game is still the same price as it was when it was released, about $100 AUD, a good example of the ripoff in retail pricing here as well.
-Oh, and we have bandwidth caps on our internet plans as well, no such thing as an unlimited plan as they have in the US or Europe here, so Steam downloads take away from our monthly allowances.

They have partly fixed the CoP Steam release - people who multi-play now have CD keys (I only single play, so I was ok). Still no manual though (but I do now have the scanned copy from the thread I made in the CoP forums), so no biggie.

Anyway, enough OT - back to ZRP and SHOC. This playthrough with ZRP, I have not disabled the PDA icon, as per your reply in the Vanilla Collectibles thread. Hopefully I can find one of those special weapons now! I will also enable the show_hit_damage variable. I've been out of the SHOC loop for a little while, so I'm not 100% how to do that, but I think I saw it in the modifier somewhere, so I will go and see if I can find it.*

ZaGaR: Nope, not really. CoP has finally been released everywhere outside Russia and Germany now. The Zone Survival Guide looks as though it may be gone for good. NatVac is still slaving away, adding things to ZRP. So nope, not much has changed!

*Edit: Nope, not in the modifier. I think I found it though, have to change show_hit_damage = false to show_hit_damage = true in ...\gamedata\scripts\xr_motivator.script

Some small things have changed.
I see Shadow has got some kind of rank now, Sturm-Fuhrer isn't it StormShadowState, ? Cheers man!
nandersen has realised that NaN was the important bit and has acted accordingly, hi there .
ZRP has reached at the point I knew it would get, lean and mean like a japanese sword .

About CoP. CoP was what got me out of letargy, I wish i didn't.
Beyond the polished graphics and the smooth, minimal-bugs play, I found an outrageus copy of Priboy Story's plot. The attempts to twist the plot not to look 100% PS have yielded a dumb&stupid story. We're practically playing a well known game with the twist of the unknown map .

On the other hand, all the problems that mobilised the community years ago, gave life to this thread, and keep NatVac slaving , hello Proffesor, are still there. There is, also, the absurd (when coming from GSC) solution of making AI invulnerable to anomalies . So much of the fun of attracting hordes of mutants into an Electro and see them frying .

The worse of all was the forum of CoP. For pointing out the above, I was jumped at the throat, called names and flooded with reasons mystifying this GSC piece of art. Sign of the times, of the todays world running on partisans and not on thinkers.

You have reasons to be sarcastic romules. Regional pricing is the way to rip you off, but there's also regional limitation. Succesful attempt to purchase a cheaper version from a different region means thrown away money. Steam will not allow you to run if your game is bought in a different region.
More 'we cheer for Steam' issues, prices in dollar are converted in Euro with the only change in currency symbols. I.e. $17.99 becomes €17,99. Which is in essential more expensive.

But enough... let's get back on topic..
