Yes that bothers me too. In one of my mods I gave an FN2000 to Seriy and that stupid bastard put it away when I sold him a sawn-off shotgun!!

Ever tried, in mp_ranks.ltx, to remove mp_wpn_g36 from rank_3 and add it to rank_0 before mp_wpn_bm16?..

They're simply bound by the default ammo rule and won't accept something that doesen't make use it. Even when mods try to remove this costraint, it is still predominant.

Maybe we need an A-life psychiatrist to release free what's in NPCs subconscience.

I think the higher rank means it should be picked over the lower ones, however there seems to be something else at play, probably the wpn class. It is an annoyance, even when you sell them the correct ammo, they will still prefer a shotgun.

I think the rank_0 is for newbies: they are allowed to use the listed weapons and only them. If a superior weapon is found, they may put it in their bag, but they can't use it. Say they don't have the agreement to use it..

Just assumptions.. Didn't tried all that..
Edit: Isn't it that way the multiplayer works anyway?!

Auto-Transfer of Body Parts on Mutant Searches

Cpt. Borovich, in early June you asked about a function to automatically transfer mutant parts. This works with the ZRP 1.05 test release to do that, using a callback as I described at that time in this thread.

To bind_monster.script, in the function generic_object_binder:reinit(), add this after the other set_callback() calls:

When a new weapon is added to the game, and you drop it in front of an NPC, the game crashes unless you have added the weapon to mp_ranks.ltx...

Now I could be very wrong , but thats what indicates to me that it is used in some way, though it may be something hard coded as well. The check on mp_ranks could be some old code, there is so much of it out there!!

I know one thing, it bugs the hell out of me when your trying to equip the Rookie camp in preperation for the Merc attack, if you ever find the solution it would be appreciated.

	self.object:set_callback(callback.use_object, nil)


although I don't know if it's necessary..
