Gameplay between non-heroes is relatively well-balanced. The sheer number of undead equal the amount of damage done out by about 100 elf pikemen supported by 100 archers, all on standground, making it a standstill. However, the sheer power of Elhant made the game too easy. If the heros are going to be "that" strong, the leveling up should take much longer.

I think after the first few levels, the more enemies he kills, the less experience he gets (depending on the enemy). The recharge rate of fear and forest allies was way too fast, and I managed to beat the level with just Elhant, and fifty pikemen guarding him.

Also, like someone stated earlier, I would like to see an enemy icon for the units attacking me, so I can know what I'm up against. Of course, it's not too hard to figure out the counters to any unit after a little experimentation, still, it's a nice little touch.

Question

I just noticed that the attack icons and and attack resistances were exactly the same as from blizzards WC3 and WoW. The races seem the same too...and it all seems kinda...the same but a little better perhaps?

Zoom funciton

Would really appreciate it when you could change this option so that once the Insert/Delete Keys are pressed, they keep there position and don't automatically go back to the default position

Also, would it be possible to zoom abit more in and out, because, there isn't a big difference between the default and zooming in and out!!!!!!!!

To be honest, I had low expectations before trying the beta, but I did have a good time playing thru it. Since I like (most of) what I've seen so far, I'll give some feedback. Just so you know, I've played strategygames my whole life, and I played Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne for over two years. Now I'm bored by it, but there haven't been released any RTS-games with the same pure quality of Wc3 yet.

Nothing to complain about regarding graphics. However, I didn't like that the elven archers are just standing there in many second without doing anything. You should fix this, they need some kind of animation betwen each shot.

The sound okay. The music in the beta is good... although it gets very boring after 30 min, so add more music in the final game, but you have probably thought about this already. The voinceacting is rather... okay, not as ill as in Spellforce 2 at least. ^^

Where are stances/formations? At least add stances, because when I want my tropps to stand still, there should be an option for this, so your troops don't run away... everywhere!!?

I hope you add more options to the gameplay, more to "micro." As mentioned before, stances and formations, and more special abilities for units, uniqe strengths etc. is a good thing. Is there a way to exploit the map in any ways? Please tell if there is.

I don't know if I like the countersystem. For instance, you have piercing damage. A unit that counters this seems to be dryads, since they have an armourbonus vs. piercing. Here's what I don't understand: Why has a unit without ANY armour (they are almost naked) good resistance vs. piercing? That doesn't make any sense!! They should be strong vs. magic attacks since they are dryads, but it is heavily armoured units that should be good vs. piercing damage. The countersystem could need an improvment.

Add options to buy five (or ten) soldiers at a time, it's a mess to click houndred times to make houndred units! That takes away a lot of fun, just to sit and click...

There doesn't seem to be much strategic depth in the game... tell me if I'm wrong? If the game offers this, it could be good, but without much strategic depth, I don't feel this game will be much better than an average RTS-game. I want a game where I can outmicro and outsmart my opponent, not win because I am the best masser. That's what Warcraft 3 did right, it's about pure micro and is incredible deep. You always have new things to improve and you always find new ways to do stuff, even if you've played the game for many years.

This game is indeed quite entertainng, and I love the settings and the map in the beta. Cool creatures too. Although, I would have to play more maps (and multiplayer) to say if this game will be a winner or not.

Keep up the good work!

Just like a million other rts's out recently, the game is deliberatly trying to get rid of a lot of the 'micro' because most people dont find it fun to have 50 groups of 12 units and memorize hotkeys to manage them all. As to whether that means there is less strategic depth I cannot say until I play the final game, but in general its more of a 'wargame' than warcraft, meaning that the strategy all comes from utilising the units themselves, rather than heaps of different 'special abilities'

i cannot agree with you completele.

There's a holding position option so that your troop don't run away.
it's called HOLD or so

as to the troops production:
STRG pressed anables to produce infinite number of units.
press SHIFT and click on the unit to poduce them in 10 steps.

try this out,

regards Kenny

Five things that "bug" me

1) Troops attacking STILL just form a BLOB, I really think you should find a solution for this as I believe it takes away any strategic gameplay element meaning that no matter whether you let your troops go round and attack the enemy from the rear, they all form this blob, and it just doesn't look good.

Let them fight it out in a much wider/broader field of battle, please.

2) Well, again, I must stress out that, I feel that creating the buildings doesn't give me the sence of a 'village/city', your just randomly putting buildings and there is no cohesion between them. Couldn't you make it so that once certain buildings are placed they automatically create a small village and once other buildings are incorporated, it turns into an elven city for instance.

3) Building recognition, to me, it actually is difficult to determine which is which building.

4) Unit direction, when selecting several units and draging the arrow with the right mouse button puts them most of the time in the wrong direction, Ive noticed that this really depends from wich angle you are pointing your arrow. Meaning, when you point your arrow in one direction, chances are BIG that they won't face the correct way, if you however, rotate the camera with middle mouse button, and point the arrow in the same direction, then there is a big chance that the selected units will face yet another way

Also, isn't it possible as in CII that you see in advance with the yellow dots where your units will be placed and you can change this?

5) Noticed that my Elven-Archers don't respond right away when I order them to shoot the enemy, haven't noticed this in anyother type of unit.
