The best CoP experience and mod combination = amazing

Hi,

I've mentioned my latest CoP mod combination before, but I have to mention it again - because seriously this is the most amazing gaming experience I've ever had.

This is it:

Nashathedog's 2015 AI mod merge
Absolute Structures
Hi-res sky textures from AF3
Absolute Nature 4 (do a manual install, otherwise not all files will be copied over, use AN4 allspawn file, reduce lense flares)

First off, Absolute Nature 4 is a work of art, and improves greatly on CoP's visuals - now maybe the best looking game I've seen, for my taste. There are more technically advanced recent games out there obviously, but the natural and gritty visual style of STALKER is just the best.

Also the improved AI and A-life makes a HUGE difference for overall game enjoyment. And even better, the whole thing is very stable. I had 3 successive CTDs early in the game, and after that 100% stable.

Does anyone know what kind of model and texture updates Nashathedog used in the AI mod merge (except for OWR)? Certain things looks better than before I think, like improved monster skins. These things could be useful for CoC.

Again, a BIG *thank you* to the STALKER modding community. CoP with your excellent mods is something very, very special.

That's good to hear, I'm glad you enjoyed it, Off course the main stars behind the mod are Alundaio (AI), Cromm Cruac (weather & vegetation) & Darkenneko (character texturing).
The mutant textures are mostly from Darkenneko's Variation mod with 1 or 2 from N.Aaroe (like the fleshes used in Misery).

I try to add everyone's name to the read me if I used something of there's and it has a lot of names in it so there may of been others I do not remember now, the main change is down to the variation mod which has multiple texture versions of some mutants.

Yup, it's an amazing difference compared to vanilla CoP. The AI is really sophisticated now, and offers a challange like no other game I've played. Your mod merges are essential, as most people don't know how to merge all these different mods together.

CoC is now the next step for STALKER (as long as there is no STALKER 2), but it's a bit frustrating to see how there's a whole bunch of addons, but many of the basics are still overlooked, like better vegetation (Absolute Nature 4), and improved monsters and characters.

Autumnal Winds finally gave CoC a much needed facelift, but I'm still hoping for AN4, and better monsters and character textures - from someone who knows how to do these things.

I'm playing your combination and it is amazing. Should I use sweetfx or reshade too for you?

I've never used them personally but I'm pretty sure Cromm Cruac had his settings for one or the other made available on Moddb via his Atmosfear page so that'd be a good place to look to find out which to try.

Definitely. Use the default SweetFX Configurator settings (split install), which adds SMAA at minimal performance cost - you also get more texture detail and slightly more vibrant colours. It's a subtle, yet big difference.

PS: I had issues getting SweetFX to work together with triple buffered vsync using this particular mod combination - for whatever reason (I use Nvidia 680MX). But forcing vsync in Nvidia Inspector, and using SweetFX 1.3.3 did the trick. Just FYI.

This mod combination is the best. Enjoy.

...

Nashathedog, since you've done so many excellent mod merges for CoP, you wouldn't consider doing something similar for CoC? There is still a lack of visual addons for CoC (ie. updating the default visual style with AN4/AS, the best monster and character textures and models, hand textures/meshes etc.) Hint hint..

I haven't done any testing for it but Cromm Cruac's AN3 for SGM 2.2 may freshen up a lot of the maps as SGM 2.2 includes the Marshes, Cordon, Army Warehouses, Agroprom, Red Forest & the Dark Valley. I used it in the Way to Pripyat and Slayer All-in-one mods and it improved things a lot, Absolute structures can also be added straight to COC, That's about all I could really do along with pick and mixing textures from other mods such as TGZ which I used some from in the Merge mods. I'm hoping someone with the now how does a proper AN4 build for COC rather than just a copy paste but we'll have to wait and see.

You are right. This compilation is amazing and it doesn't need any sweetfx or similar.

Are you sure that AN4 needs to be installed manually? I just ran the setup and everything seems to be fine at the moment...

Or rather, if i do a manual install:

-> Should i copy the AN4 level.ai and level.spawn for each level?

Do not use AN4 all.spawn or level.ai unless you want to break your game.

By the way to anyone using CoP textures for CoC. You can use AXRToolset Texture Copy tool to copy and rename the COP named textures to the old SoC/CS naming scheme, this way the SoC/CS maps in CoC will use these textures.
