Sounds like fate, destiny, luck and circumstances could/would/should
provide Team DezOwave a chance to make the next Stalker Game...yes?

You mean, none will stop DezOwave on its triumphant march towards saving the franchise? You know I'm a sceptic but even I am very confident that LA will be relased, this way or another.

Here's my version of the events: it went wrong two ways.
First, GSC screwed up development. This is also why they didn't release any screens, concept art, trailers, nothing. Development was bogged down and delayed.

Overstretching their resources with the planned film and TV show even made the trouble worse.

Second, discussions with console companies had failed and a PC-only release didn't seem economically viable.
Realizing that the dev team didn't do its homework and the originally planned business model not being feasible anymore, Sergey called the project off.

That's my guess.

This is what I infer from everything we have been told, as well.

Wha...

So basically, Sergei felt that properly implementing everything for Stalker 2 was a larger work load than the team could handle....so he fired the team and froze the project? That seems...counter-intuitive....

The mysteries of the Zone seem simple compared to this bizarre story.

In other words, they got no game and no developers, but are looking for a team that will make a better STALKER than its original creators. Good luck... with that...
---END QUOTATION---

I'm actually kind of glad he fired the present team. CoP was not the Stalker game I was very happy with, it was not going in the right direction. Not the original ambient and gloomy type game SoC was. I was mostly put off by things like washed out textures, unrealistic Stalker environment (everyone walks in groups of 3's, the game felt very faction divided and even urban) and other things, like monsters being stuck to their own areas. Parts of the levels felt neglected at times. The game felt like a big sandbox and it turned me off quite abit.

I hope Sergey will hire people like Dez0wave, who understand Stalker more, as a survival horror type game, not a camping in 3's picnic type game. Ok, maybe that's abit too harsh. He shouldn't have fired the team, but at least assigned good coordinators or executive producers to sort of guide them. I'd put Dez0wave in charge. Let's hope Sergey will have the wisdom to find a team, more like Dez0wave and bring Stalker closer to it's roots, closer to a dark survival horror type game.

Wow, the trailer looks pretty good. The lighting isn't as real as XRays, but everything else, the animations, skins, etc are on the spot. I really liked the gun sound effects and how you could assemble parts on the go.

I totally with you on that.
The Zone took a wrong turn with CS, and it continued down that road with COP. CS & COP felt too scripted and linear compared to SHOC.

CS's wrong turn is due to GSC trying to fulfill the fans wishes of a faction war, and their not being enough communication of concepts between the two sides.
Its a classic software design case analogous to the two people wanting to build a house: 1 wants a regular house, the other a mansion, and both thinking the other one wants exactly the same as them.
