guys picture this

1) Bethesda gets the rights, right. their actual developed games aside, they're a good publisher in that they never interfere in a game's development cycle and generally let the developers do what they want, for better or for worse. this gives us stuff like Rogue Warrior, but also gives us stuff like New Vegas and Dishonored.

2) Bethesda's already developing two massive open-world franchises full-time, and Vostok is already like halfway done with STALKER 2, so Bethesda gets them on board to finish it up.

3) THQ has been teetering on the brink of collapse lately, so by some weird twist of fate they die. 4A, seeing that Sergey is no longer an element in STALKER's development, teams up with Vostok to work on STALKER 2.

I like your idea...and maybe it´s not very far from truth...hopefully

I wouldn't be too praising of Bethesda, their poor QA and such for titles (see: BRINK for a great example of this) and post-launch support for games that don't do too well partially due to their poor QA (see BRINK again!), along with their legal team's love for stupid lawsuits (see: Scrolls debacle, the fansite that gave out "posters"*)... doesn't paint a pretty picture.

I honestly didn't know THQ was doing that poorly. Saints Row 3 seemed to do alright... and let's not forget what happened last time THQ published a STALKER game. (Remember all the cut content?)

Thats sounds like a pretty good plan

I was wondering anyway why they just don't finish what they started and then release it under a different name so Sergey can suck [insert generic lower body part]

The body damage system in FO3 is actually quite nice, also the way you heal, especially in HC mode in NV, more or less closer to realistic than in any other game. Also the ballistics were not that bad in there, while sure the the effects are not spot on with real life counterparts, they were still way better than in most other games where your accuracy is either way beyond horrific or spot on as if magnetically guided to the target.

I don't know how spot-on that analysis is... Fallout 3 and NV are RPGs through and through; to my understanding the accuracy and strength of attacks is determined via weapon quality and character skill, not really ballistic models. NV's hardcore mode healing system is really just reviving the way healing in Morrowind was done- over time, not instant.

All in all still better, while yes the accuracy and damage are governed by skill points instead of an actual ballistics model, it kinda makes sense, though the Skyrim skill levelling system would be better, as it is more or less how you learn something in real life ( the more you do something, the better you become at it as opposed to FO where you just assign skill points). As to the healing, yes most things healed over time which is already good but my main point was about severe limb damage that required a special med-kit or an actual doctor to fix and gave you disadvantages(decreased accuracy, slower movement).
The best thing in my opinion would be to merge the Skyrim levelling system and an actual ballistics system, in that the ballistics would govern the base damage and accuracy and the other attributes that come with it, while 'guns skill' would give you bonuses to accuracy by reducing sway and better controlled breathing, improved weapon handling(they degrade slower and jam less often).
Their current combat model is not perfect but with some modification it can be quite nice.
