Installing

Is there a way to upload certain files to start a dedicated server remotely or do you have to install the full game ?

Would like to run this on our superserver (mega bandwidth )and admin using VNC.

well with the beta testing, there's an exe file that allows you to start a dedicated server , so hopefully we'll see it in the next patch =D, go to file front stalker section, you can download it i think.

What are the settings for? What is the optimum settings? Any other ways to help me out?
sv_client_reconnect_time (0 ) ...
sv_console_update_rate (1 ) ...
sv_dedicated_server_update_rate (100 ) ...
---END QUOTATION---

sv_client_reconnect_time - This is the amount in seconds it will remember a player's score after they disconnect. 0 disables this feature. So, someone has a bad score of -198 and they decide to reconnect to make it look pretty, they would have to wait 60 seconds if you set this to 60 else they would have the same score when they reconnect.

sv_*_update_rate - This effects how often it updates *. The higher the number, the more resources it uses. I believe it also allows the server to seem less glitchy, but I have not done too much testing myself. I meant to ask about this in my original post as well but forgot. If anyone has some solid numbers for this, that would be great.

Basically, upload all the .db* files and all of the bin directory. You need the registry settings as I stated above. Also the fsgame.ltx file, which you should edit and change the $app_data_root$ line to wherever you want the server to save the config files to, such as a folder called 'data' where you upload everything to. It will build new files if they don't exist.

If you want to look into extracting the files from the .db* files, I haven't tested it, but it seems like you could cut out the single player maps and sounds and such. A brief look at the files, it seemed as if I could cut things down to 600mb. If you do this you need to make sure that the fsgame.ltx file points to the directory you have everything extracted to, set by $game_data$ (default is gamedata\). Also make sure that the .db* files are nowhere on the system, or are stored in a zip file, otherwise Stalker will find these files and use them and sometimes refuses to run.

600MB doesnt seem too bad.

I'll have to look at how to get into the db files (dont know as yet).
I hope the devs help us on this one, or maybe if some exp modder could list which files are required for SP?

Dont know the legality of distributing it as a zip but listing them should be ok.

could do with the info required if anyone has it.

Think thats the beta test version.
I think you need a key and dont know if any left and
you have to subscribe to fileplanet for a monthly fee.

Seems I can't edit that post anymore. I looked again, seems that it's the amount of time in minutes, not seconds. My bad Either that, or the server I tested on decided to remember a score forever.

As for what files, it's a project on my to-do list that is nearing its way to the top. I'll post my findings if and when I get around to it.

Wow Confusing!!!!

1=on
0=off
1=off
0=on

And I was wondering why autobalance wasnt working!
Cant we just have 1=on and 0=off? why do we have to have settings with both ways, arghhh.
