Hmm this is all very disconcerting. Not that this should excuse things, but is it easier to take down enemies on the starting difficulty? Between the Vista issues, quest bugs and now this I'm waiting on a patch.

I'm not sure about the toughness of hostiles on lower difficulties but the manual states the difficulty dictates the amount of damage taken and item availability. It doesn't say anything about NPC difficulty.

It just seems to be a common tactic in FPS to up the amount of damage enemies can take.

You shouldnt always be invisible in the game. but yes they do need to work on makin the indiacator to grow or lower when in hidden places. but still, i usualy think they want u to " go in sneack. stab him/shoot him in the head and if ur not spotted... move along. keep it up once ur spotted than go special force tactic. flank ur enemy and be fast. than go sneak again." thats mostly a way how sneak should work in the game of s.t.a.l.k.e.r... but still.

Where do u get the military armor whitout joining them. they seem cruel but there armor reminds me of playing f.e.a.r or halo.
its just so cool to look at a guy in a military suit running away from a heli copter. leading him inside a wearhous full of either monsters or stalkers.

I wonder if there is any mechanics for 'almost spottet' coded in the game. I dont think the field of view of the enemies is the problem, you can hear when an enemy is close, and indoors often he has a flash light on etc. I think the problem is that they hear you a little too easily. I'm amazed that you managed to sneak up on anybody Expositus.

About damage I find it to be fine on Veteran. Not to difficult and not too hard, and in terms of realism its just fine imo.

Sneaking & damage

I think the sneaking is more how it works. It seems the visible bar is not how visible you are but rather that an enemy can see you. So it is on or off. Have I have managed to sneak on master but it is almost impossible, so a small tweak would be nice.

Damage actually seems ok, the pistol just sucks. The shotgun up close will kill with a single shot (bandits anyway). I have not played with the SMG as I do not have a lot of ammo for it.

I think the problem is you have a crummy gun and functionally no armour when you start. I took on the car park single handed (died lots ), and managed it. So you just need to pick your gun for the situtation.

One thing does anyone know if you can check the difficulty after you start ? I chose Master and want to make sure that is where I am, before I get much farther.
