Leaning and Iron sights in multiplayer

These 2 things are killing FPS games. While more realistic, and fun to use in single player, it slows down multiplayer by encouraging hiding and camping. I'm sure you can already tell but, im a huge CS fan, and when I heard STALKER had a Russian CS team working on its multiplayer aspect I was happy as a pig in shSt.

"No way can they mess the multiplayer up," I thought...then...I read the fAQs. I've played CoD and CoD2, and I was good at it, but ultimately I went back to CS. It's just too slow, and half the time you're getting killed by people you can't see. Don't try to cross CoD and CS...just make CS better.

IMO there are 4 things that ruin CoD/MoH multiplayer:
1. Iron Sights - Interesting...but why bother...realism != fun
2. Leaning - Dumb, slows down rounds.
3. Prone Position - encourages camping, and its never fun to get killed by someone whos been layin in a bush for 5 minutes.
4. Insta-kill Nades- Anyone whos ever played Medal of Honor:AA knows every start of every map is just nade spam over buildings lookin for a lucky kill...another example of realism taking the fun out of a game.

Don't feel obligated to replicate the way the player moves in single player when you're designing the muliplayer. Im sure this post comes way too late, but theres always patching the game ^^

CS is old, CS players are gettin bored of it, give us a game we can switch to.

So... CS is getting dull, but you want stalker MP to play just like CS?

That makes perfect sense

I love it when people complain about camping in MP. So many Runners & Gunners...

This and this alone deserves a kick in the nuts. Players will hide and camp regardless of leaning and iron sights being in the game, and it wont enhance their ability to hide and camp, either.

Wow, that leaning definitely helps the player in his static position!//sarcasm

Go play FEAR. It has leaning. It has iron sights.
People definitely dont hide or camp excessively in that game.

1. Ironsights are just an immersion aspect for aiming. No better or worse then a recticle /dot in the center of the screen.

2. The hell is wrong with a slower pace? Nothing is stopping you from running and gunning in through that door like you always do.

3. Prone is just like crouch, only lower and gives a better accuracy bonus and lowered profile. Again, it doesn't improve anyone's likely hood to "camp" because, even though it may aid people to "hide" the tactic of repeatedly proning and running in an assault is VERY effective.

4. Think of all the times players have wasted their 'uber nades' by throwing them uselessly onto roofs, killing no one. There are alot of times when grenades can be used to kill someone instantly, but thankfully most of those times there's only one grenade to throw. Also, because of the ballistic nature of grenades, they can very easilly bounce off and away from it's intended target. Some games even fail to damage players hiding behind sheet metal when a grenade goes off, even though it could've done massive damage.

You want a new game to switch to but ASK FOR THE SAME OLD MECHANICS? All you're asking for at that point is a graphical and atmospherical update.

Just look at what copying the experience point and item systems in MMOs has produced. Identical gameplay mechanics and identical gameplay -- play on MMORPG, and you've effectively played them all. I have played World of WarCraft and Matrix Online, and i can effectively say that they are exactly the same in gameplay, minus the world settings.

A CLONED GAME IS AS WORTHLESS AS IT'S PROGENITOR.
Based on that, Stalker is worth more then the stock prices of platinum, gold, silver, and copper -- combined.

I completely disagree with the first post. In addition to that I'd like to say that the ability to rap around corners and pop over boxes like in the R6 vegas game would be cool.

i also disagree.

stalker, thankfully imo, isn't going in the way CS does. it's not a run-n-gun game and it's actually more realistic than rainbow6:VEGAS or GRAW in many departments.

i love and lean-crouch-ironsite-raticule bloom aspects of this game as they add more tactical and realistic approach to the gameplay and it takes it away from the bunnyhopping gameply CS is, which i hate and dont play.

also FEAR has lean but no iron sights and the leaning ability is FEAR is pointless as it is so easy to hop and straf while shootnig accuratly that leaning and staying still for one second will get u killed.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it is not supposed to be a constant fast paced frag-fest. It is slower paced. Not relaxed slow, but tense and careful slow. Where every bullet is made to count.
It's not "who can click fastest after running headlong into your opponent."
Camping doesn't bother me, it's not a tactic I tend to employ but it is a fair and realistic one. People need to understand that they have to get used to a new game and step out of their Counter Strike mindset.

I completely agree, personally my favorite games are 2-5 people on the railroad map. If you have less players it encourages being cautious, and hunting your prey carefully down. I have never played a game that pulled this off more effectively than stalker. You get a real sense of value to your character life, you run, hide, take pot shots, duck around corners, it feels like you are really there.

Exactly and anyone who's seen the Tarkovsky film Stalker or read the brothers Strugatsky's Roadside picnic will understand the dangers of anomalies and that you need to be damn careful!
