Identify ingame texture

I've been trying to alter or replace a texture but I'm having a tough time finding the texture itself. Is there anyway ingame to identify a texture name, maybe path. Unfortunately I can't seem to use the console a la TES game.

Currently it's the ground/floor/grass texture in the dark valley, I've found many that look very much like it but altering them isn't showing a change.

It would save so much time if anyone knows how to do this as I normally go searching through the .dds files, this time I can't seem to find the right one.

Thanks a lot.

You need to change the gamedata\levels\ 'build_details' too.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I don't see the texture I'm looking for in there. The one I'm looking for is the ground/floor itself, that is somewhat dirt/grassy, not the plants for a level (sorry if my post was misleading).

I've found a number of textures that are very close to the texture, if not at least partial matches, (grnd_grass_escape, grnd_grass_military_2, grnd_grass1/2/3, grnd_rostok_grass1/2) though I've edited each of those, even completely replaced them all with another texture and it's had no effect. (I replaced all those with a car tire texture and have yet to see it anywhere ingame).

It seems this texture may be used on every level as the ground, or at least as a base or sorts.

There are a lot of ground textures in the folder 'detail' too.

If you're looking for good textures you can try these mods:
NLC 7
Echo of Chernobyl 2

Thanks bdoomed.

I went through the detail folder before asking here, in both my install/modded version and the extracted SoC. I actually ended up just browsing through the entire textures folder, even subs like prop and font.

Though I checked again and I think it's safe to say I found it this time

I must have been more tired than I realised when checking.

Referencing that above image there's something else I've been wondering about. The detail_grnd_grass.dds texture has variation in it ingame, seemingly wherever it's used. Some areas being green, some brown and so on.

I would like to alter those colours, at some times of day the green is so ugly, then at other times the brown ends up looking bright yellow.

I'm hoping that by using a darker base texture those coloured overlays won't be as powerful (and ugly), though if anyone knows how I could alter those it would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Okay seems I've found it, thought I'd post it incase anyone else stumbles onto this with the same question.

The file responsible for creating a sort of colour overlay over the ground texture is related to each level, located in

\gamedata\levels\<LevelName>\terrain\terrain_<LevelName>.dds
