Cumulative Mod JP-2.1

The successor to Narodnaya Solyanka Cumulative Pack 2 is nearing completion ... a lot of work has gone on in adding many new maps, improving the speed and reliability and tweaking the old X-Ray engine.

The biggest barrier to good playabilty for Cumulative Pack 2 was the poor and incomplete English translation.

I have received an email from someone (who was referred to me by the lead developer of JP-1, JP-2 and others) saying that there was interest in developing an English version for JP-2.1. I am trying to find out more about this atm.

Nice to see you back Playdough. That's really good to hear that someone might be interested in doing a translation. If any mod deserves one it's these series of mods. I know it is a huge undertaking which is best done with a team of modders.

The question is I saw on Reddit awhile back saying this edition would add a lot more maps and 500 more hours of content. Although the engine limitations have become an issue. Do you know anything about this?

I had a brief chat with a member of the team working on the translation for 2.1. I was told there was 5 or 6 people working on it and that it will take a number of months. The member personally will work on it until completion or if life events prevent him.

Wow, thats really really nice to hear . Still mod number one, even with the bad translation. Would be epic if it's finished same time i finish my education in January 2018

that's really funny,haha(скоро means ''soon'')...good to see you back,playdough!

I'm really waiting for C.P. 2.1 . I think it will take like 2 months or so. I noticed Proper70 was searching for testers.
Since then,i'll play Stalkersoup ( after six years of development, it still has a lot of google-translated text).

It will be great if the Russians are doing an English translation for CP2.1,it will help a lot and attract more players,i think.

I cant seem to scratch my head enough in confusion that they do so much work, and a really really nice work in an old Engine.
Initiative for 64bit exists but for open X-ray, when it will be done no one knows but there is still posibility.
I cant seem to understand why they push so much that old engine instead of using open x-ray or at least port mod to a COP engine.
There is obvious reason that there is no NS mod ported to COP engine because it is no small task at all I understand.
But still such big and good mod on such outdated engine seems kinda strange because time for polishing the shoc engine to take on such big mod could be focused on doing a port to COP engine plus you maybe get opportunity to even make it 64bit in a future and make optimisations even easier.
Just my tought on development path they choose, they still made masterpiece with such engine for shoc.

It's not just "no small task", it would be a mind-bogglingly huge one. Animations would have to be completely remade for any weapons with the SoC rigging, many script features are changed or missing in CoP, model, level, and spawn formats are different. You would practically be starting over from scratch, except worse since you also have to recreate the entirety of SoC first. Might as well just make a new mod.

Plus, some people prefer SoC's engine anyways.
