I would very much like to roam in the Chernobyl NPP, without any enemies around, but would it also be somehow possible to roam inside the CNPP?
thanks

multiplayer maps question

StalkerJohn99~

The various individual game forums here are a bit quirky. Even though
this section "General" says it is a General discussion of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:
Shadow of Chernobyl in it's description, people generally don't do that.
Want to talk about the Game? Go to "Playing the Game" unless you
are modding it then you go to "Mod Discussion". However keep in mind
that since GSC hasn't released a Game since 2009, the forums here are
not as active as years ago and you may have to be more patient than
posting 3 times in the same day and expecting an immediate response.

Actually you were just lucky that a few of us answered your post in the
CoP Forum which is a little more active due to the Call of Chernobyl Mod.

I can't answer your question about Multiplayer Maps because no one really
cares about the Multiplayer Game. It's never been popular with any of the
English Community simply because there were no Servers, not enough
people speaking English to gather and trying to join an active server where
the majority of the people were in Russia, Ukraine and/or Eastern Europe
meant that the ping rates were so terrible it was unplayable to join them.

However maybe what you are asking was done long ago. Just looking in
the "Multiplayer Bugs" section I see the last post was April 2014 which is
4 months away from being 3 years ago. My advice is to post in the "Mod
Discussion" area where there is the most activity by Forum Members. You
might get an answer or a link to an older post so be patient and hopeful.

well what about the second question? is there a point of no return in the game, before which you could explore the cnpp as much as you can? like before a cutscene? thanks

Unfortunately the point of no return is at the Pripyat stadium. There's no real way to explore the NPP levels without mods.

I meant like, in the cnpp level, for example you go to this room and there is a cutscene, so before the room you can go back IN the interior of the cnpp
I asked if there is something like that

multiplayer maps question

StalkerJohn99~

You've opened up a big can of worms as there are many answers I
can give you but it may not be exactly what you are looking for.

Let's back up a bit and talk about SoC. Now of course like BobBQ
suggested, the easiest way to get to being able to explore Pripyat
and the CNPP would be through Mods like Priboi Story, Lost Alpha
and/or Call of Chernobyl. Especially the latter that would allow you
to start a Game very close to your objectives and be there quickly.

Getting back to SoC, you've got to do several things like meet certain
people, grab certain items and initiate events to obtain access to other
levels. Speed run people will tell you it can be done in about 2 to 5 days.

Here's what you need to know:

The point of no return for SoC is the Stadium in Pripyat. However it is
not a single place. Follow your PDA that leads you to the front center
gate of the Stadium and it will zap you to the CNPP level. Don't do that.
Use the side gates on either side to actually enter the Stadium itself. This
allows you to encounter several Monolith waiting to ambush you. They
have several RPG-7s ( one on south side and 3 on north side bleachers )
and another Monolith with a Gauss Gun on the roof of a building to the
east. The Stadium is full of artifacts, some rare like the Night Star but
also has some intense anomalies in the middle. It is the far side of the
Stadium on the northern side in the center where the other level changer
is for going to the CNPP too. SoC unmodded has stability issues in the
Pripyat level so do NOT make any Quick or Manual Saves in the level.
Make your Manual Save in the Red Forest level prior to leaving for Pripyat
or after leaving Pripyat when you first arrive in the CNPP level if you want
to come back to explore and try things differently than your first time there.

I've got some really good news about the CNPP level. There's a way to
explore it with your character to go and see places that most people do
not know about. What you want to avoid is the red path that is where
the game steers you to a timer based blowout ( emission ) that rushes
you to quickly enter the sarcophagus not letting you loot much or explore.

Here's my map to guide you to be able to see and explore a lot more:
http://i.imgur.com/7U12TOF.jpg

At the beginning when you arrive, to the west is a platform for some
pipes or a tower. Climb on top of it and from it you can leap over the
fence and head west. Bring an RPG-7 and several rounds with you as
you will encounter several helicopters, most on the ground and one even
south of you in a canal where you entered the level. The one in the canal
is one that is scripted to attack you later after you cross the bridge in a
normal game. Do a big sweep south and then go counter-clockwise to
explore to the far east and come up to the eastern expanse of the CNPP
level where the railroad tracks go and the bridge that crosses to the CNPP
itself. Be careful about getting too close to the areas you normally play in
as sometimes invisible walls will let you pass through them but not escape
back out. Don't expect to see the other side of the CNPP as it was never
intended for you to see or go back there and it's relatively unfinished.

What you can do as the map shows in green, is go far to the west, meet
helicopters out in the plains, move along the road and go to the far side
of the western side of the CNPP. Go along the fence and you can find an
open spot to enter it and go back inside the walled CNPP compound. You
can walk around it and explore it, find artifacts and visit a rare place where
a BTR-70 is, some Military troops are at an outpost. What is cool is on a
table there is a pair of binoculars you can grab which is rare in the Game.
Now do understand my red dashed line is approximate. It's roughly about
in that location so if you cross it from west to east ( game does it from east
to west ) you will trigger the emission and start the timer. Keep in mind
there are active Monolith everywhere so you will have to engage them as
you poke around. This is the most you can get to do without Modding.

As far as the inside Sarcophagus goes, you can explore it after you kill
everyone. Go to the Wish Granter but do not approach it and trigger
one of the five false endings. Find the other Vault door, use the Decoder
to find additional areas in the Sarcophagus. Meet the C-Consciousness
personnel and explore but be ready for that final cut scene that makes
you go back outside to the northern section of the outdoor CNPP compound.

Lot's of radiation out there so you can't get down on the ground and walk
around. The blue arrows show approximate areas that you are moving about
but more areas you can't go. Lot's of teleportation jumping to various places.
This is where you probably want to use Demo_Record to fly around, see things
& go places where your character can never reach before the scripted Game ends.

Hey I play MP from time to time, and there are lots of custom maps that people play. I think most are on FPS Banana or Russian sites.
