Hello Dear Meltac

Sorry to ask you again a question.
You know I don't want to importune you ,with question... I can't solve.

I always try to merge your amazing Shaders

Now on Oblivion Lost 31 by Kanyalos,a really great mod with fun and big moments of gameplay. Many people will appreciate all your fantastics rain, reflexion,rainbow...

I remember you tell me about mod having a shaders.xr .
How difficult it will be to do the merge.

I actually manage to have some good effects in game, but not very long time, not stability and game crash often with always the same log :

Expression : An undetermined error occurred
Function : CResourceManager::_CreateVS
File : G:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\ResourceManager_Resources.cpp
Line : 232
Description : _hr

So, is there really nothing to do with a mod containing this file?

We can manage to merge your shaders with many mods, this is fabulous, and only those have this file create problems.

It will be amazing to bypass this difficulty, but only you can tell
if it will possible or too long and time consuming ...

Can you have an idea or suggestion, please?

Best Regards Sir

Hi again olivius,

Since DS 2.0 does not contain a shaders.xr file itself you get at least around merging two different shaders.xr file contains which might be tricky

The thing with mods having a shaders.xr file is that they often define additional shaders that DS 2.0 does not contain, or they re-define existing shaders in a way that make my shaders invalid in certain situations.

So there is no general rule of thumb, but in most cases it already helps taking the shader files from DS 2.0 and place those files that don't exist in DS on top of them, so create a "union" of both.

Then you'll need to run the game and check every level one by one. When hitting errors such as the described one then a little "detective work" might be needed, you'll need to figure out which shader file causes the trouble, and then either simply take the version of the file of the other mod instead of mine, or merge both shader files in a meaningful way.

Also you could use some (russian) tool to inspect the contents of the shaders.xr file to see what additional or changed shaders it contains, then you'll now at least which files could create trouble.

I wouldn't know of any better way of doing that, sorry.

Thank you very much for your answer!

It will be a really hard job...

I remember open ,with the shader editor sdk ,this type of file.
I can have at least, a list of files.

And perhaps someone know another tool to open those type of files .xr?

Thank's again.
Cheers

There are extractor tools out there (created by some russian dudes), they simply decompile an .xr file and save the extracted contents as text files. You could - theoretically - edit or merge those text files and recompile (with another utility) again into a new .xr file.

I did that once when merging two mods that both contained a shaders.xr, after having figured out how to do it, it did work well, but it's handwork.

There are similar tools for decompiling / extracting the particles.xr files and recompiling again but for me those didn't work quite well.

Hello

Have you seen this video?

Stalker on Crysis and reference to your shaders :

Ajoutée le 12 sept. 2015
Чтобы отчетливо увидеть все эффекты, нужно смотреть в HD.Новые шейдеры от Meltac, включающие в себя эффект приближения прицелов в пределах оптики, капли дождя на стекле, ПНВ прицелов, и не только...

To clearly see all the effects you need to look at HD.Novye shaders from Meltac, including the effect of drawing within sight optics, raindrops on glass, night vision scopes, and not only ...

Hello Dear Meltac

Long time since posting here
As usual I have a little question ,I can't solve a little problem ...
I merge your shaders in a SoC mod 1.004,SGM.
All seems perfect,but...there is a little but
I have always the rays of sun even when it rain...
https://imgur.com/BMjKTgo

I look and try to change many setting in the ShaderSettings, but honestly I don't see what I can do to stop them when it rain.
It's the first time I see that, and I often merge your shaders with Soc Mods without problems.
Perhaps have you a tip ?

Best Regard Dear Meltac

Your shaders are always the best for these old Stalker games !

Hey olivius! Yes, it's been a long time!

Thanks for still using and merging my mod

You haven't found any setting that prevents sun rays from being drawn when it rains simply because such a setting does not exist

There's no check for rain. Which would not be physically correct anyway, because it's totally possible (while not likely) that sun shafts occur during rain!

What I do instead is checking for sun, because that's basically the way real sun rays behave - no sun, no rays.

This said, I assume that the weather config of your mod has probably enabled sun during rain periods. Please check that. If I'm wrong, there might be an error either in the way you've merged the two mods, or in my implementation.

Let me know.

Hello Dear Friend
Thank you very much for your answer, and for all these clarifications.
I was sure you would give me a good tip and a way to look
Yes I will study in more detail these weather's configuration files.
Both of them was easy to merge, but there are a lot of weather's files in this mod.
The ray effect is really perfect in sunny weather, but far too strong in bad weather, it's really amazing.
I'll see.
Thanks again for your reply and always your wise advice.
Good night Dear Meltac
Cheers
