Bug reports
Figured it would make sense to make a thread for bug reports.
Try and make your reports as informative as possible; the less they have to guess what's causing it, the faster it's fixed.
I'd strongly recommend you include:
* Type of bug. Is it a crash, graphical glitch, AI glitch, etc.
* For graphical glitches, listing your graphics settings is almost mandatory, to be honest.
* System information. Protip: run dxdiag.exe on Windows (tried with 7, not sure about 8), it'll give you everything. Don't post everything, though; just list the basic components, and graphics card driver version. Include the text file it outputs as an attachment if you really want to; if you're attaching a savedgame in your report anyway, it probably won't hurt to put it in the same zip along with the crashlog and save.
* A thorough description of the bug and what you were doing at the time, where you were in the game, and so on.
* Crash log. By default it's in the main game folder/appdata/logs. You want xr_USERNAME.ltx, username being self-explanatory. Post everything between FATAL ERROR and stack trace:. Alternatively, attach the whole file.
* If the bug is easily repeatable but dependent on circumstance i.e. where you are in the game currently, attach the savedgame, in appdata/savedgames. Try repeating it twice more, are there any differences at what point the error occurs? Is it bang-on the exact same place, time and/or actions that cause it, or can you do things differently each time and still get it?
* Try not to post the same bugs as someone else already has. If you've got something very similar, just quote them and say what you did differently or such to get the same bug e.g. are you using a different renderer setting but still getting a particular graphics bug that someone else did?
And now for the bugs i've encountered, all with the current very first release version (downloaded via torrent, not sure if that might make a difference)

Clicking on the Contacts icon in the PDA, or hitting the contacts hotkey, when there are enemies in the area, results in a CTD.

Crash to desktop
Hitting the quickload key after dying (default F7, haven't changed it) results in the game attempting to load, then crash. The quicksave can be loaded manually through the menu after death with no probems.

Gameplay bug
I am unable to select what item I want to modify when I use Fox's upgrade menu. To select an individual item reliably, I have to drop all other items that appear in the menu. I can repair items fine doing this, but remain unable to select any upgrades. If there is a gameplay element that enables these upgrades, it would be best to have Fox mention he needs something done/found/etc. before he can upgrade.

Crash to desktop
EDIT: Solved, disabled actor legs in options menu.
I was making my way past the collapsed bridge in Cordon, on my way to see Seriy in the Garbage. I came across a pack of rats (and a pseudodog could be heard too, along with regular dogs) at the little house next to the Sin hideout. I shoot at a few of the rats while backpedalling. Shortly after, I receive this crash:
---QUOTATION--- FATAL ERROR
[error]Expression : m_foot_bones[leg_type] != BI_NONE
[error]Function : CStepManager::get_foot_position
[error]File : step_manager.cpp
[error]Line : 196
[error]Description : foot bone had not been set
stack trace: ---END QUOTATION---
I repeated this a second time, at which point the game crashed with the same error before I reached the rats. On the third attempt, I was able to slaughter the rats, dogs and pseudodog without a crash. On the fourth, I crashed while shooting at the rats and pseudodog approaching me. The exact moment of the crash coincided with one of my bullets missing the rat I was targeting by mere millimetres. On the fifth, I was able to repeat the success of #3 without issue, and have continued with the game from that point forward.
Attached is the savedgame. Simply head north along the road and engage the rats. Included in the zip is the full crash log, and dxdiag information, if they prove to be of any use at all.

Sound bug
EDIT: Solved, disabled actor legs in options menu.
Player seems to have no footstep sounds whatsoever. Tied to foot bone error above possibly?

Minor bug/gameplay
Personal note for "Meeting Seriy" shows "Seriy_meet_Strelok_info".

Minor bug/graphics
Changing shadow detail setting seems to have no discernible effect. If it requires a restart to take effect, it should inform the player so. All other settings are maxed on my machine, except with AA being disabled entirely, grass shadows disabled, 60Hz frequency and Vsync disabled, and utilising HBAO.

Minor bug/graphics
At 19:10 in the Cordon, the sun seemed to rise instantly by something like 10 degrees. Weather in the Garbage seems to be normal and dark at this time, though so far i've been there for 2 minutes.

Gameplay bug
AI does not seem to be capable of spotting the player properly. It's fairly easy for me to shoot bandits at a campfire without their friends either noticing or caring until they get shot as well. Same thing with the Cordon northern checkpoint guards.
My system information
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM
CPU: Intel Core i7 965 (quad core, 3.2GHz)
RAM: 12GB DDR3
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 Ti
- driver: 9.18.13.3221
Sound: Asus Xonar DGX
EDIT:
Dezowave's forums are back up, they have a bug report thread at:
http://www.dezowave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1648&sid=d68c38e7c07c554c960e4820dfabec10
Probably more sensible to post bug reports there instead, although i'm personally having some trouble loading the site, getting 504 occasionally.

Fortunately, Dezowave has told us that they will continue to provide updates and patches to Lost Alpha. But for now some features are disabled until Dezowave releases patches for the game.
I did notice that the advanced SSAO modes (HDAO and HBAO) still have bugged grass shadows, so I'll stick with the regular SSAO mode. Since this was an issue with the dx10 render in CoP, I guess it was to be expected. Otherwise the graphics are stunning, and surely exceeded my expectations. |

I've got the same error - foot bone had not been set - , past the Sin house, next to a car. I wasn't shooting, just looking around, trying to see the rats.
- no foot steps sound at all
- there's no nighttime.I slept from 8.00 pm to 3 a.m. and the sun is up
- when pausing the game, under ''options'' button it's an '' options LA'' button but nothing happens when clicking on it.
- same issue with Fox |

I just saw this on Modb, posted by a guy called Madapu
''If footsteps sounds in 1st person mode are missing, go to Options -> Game -> Disable the option "Show actor's shadow" (make sure it's not selected on yellow light. ''
It worked,i can hear my foot steps,but i can't see my legs. I mean i don't have legs anymore ( in game,of course )
EDIT
after disabling ''show actor's shadow'' option, there's no more ''- foot bone had not been set - '' error.
I just entered Garbage. |
