Realistic excretion

In the always fun quest for more realism in our games, I realised that what Stalker needs is a more relaistic system for going to the toilet. We've already got eating in the game, but after chowing down on goodness knows how many cans of meat and those sausages, we should really see some effects other than an up to out health bar. I suggest either another bar next to the health and armor and rad ones - for fullness of bladder and bowels. Hell, maybe a separate bar for both. As they fill, your speed would decrease, and an icon would appear showing you that you were in discomfort. To reduce the bars you'd have to either take a piss or have a dump. Doing this i public places would cause negative reactions from NPCs, ranging from window-dressing comments and outrage to outright attacks if, say, you unloaded a bowelfull on Lukash' feet or what have you. This could be tied to your visibility bar. Obviously, whilst performing a poo, you'd have to be in Full Crouch mode.

Failing to go when you are feeling the need would initially as I said drop your speed, then maybe cause you to crouch automatically to simulate the effects of stomach cramps, and then your health would drop slightly. Then, when the icon goes beyonfd the flashing red state, you'd just involuntarily shit your pants or piss yourself. This would increase your 'visibility', as NPCs would be able to notice the smell.

Possibly different foodstuffs could have different types of effect. Curried eggs and jars of mollasses, for example, could produce random farting noises which would affect stealth.

:d damn bandits! don't shoot at me while i'm having a poo!

why not make the animals poo? paint some gibs brown, drop the pob (poo gib) from torso bone of the animal while walking or standing a game-hour latter they've eat, just limit the poo action while they're sleeping or it could be gross!

You can go a few days without eating and pooping. If realistically modeled it'd be so infrequent that it would be relatively pointless.

Then maybe some foods could be rotten, so they give you the shits. You wouldn't know until you'd eaten them. Those sausages, for example. The cans would probably be ok. Or someone could mod some laxative gas grenades. They'd be pretty effective in a firefight I reckon.

It's about time shitting was introduced in =to games. I remember in Postal 2 you could whip it out and piss on things, but it wasn't very realistically modelled IIRC.

Believe it or not I am going to implement taking a dump (if I can) in my mod.

You'll have dump metre (brown of course), that gets full as you eat. When it becomes maxed out, you'll fart, meaning stealth would be impossible.

So you'll have to find a nice quiet area, press a special key to squat and turd it all out.

This is great. May I suggest using the 'grunt' sound effect from the very last level for this? It should be louder than the fart noise, so that in a dicey situation you'd have to decide wether the vastly increased chance of being heard pooing would be outweighed by the removal of the constant low-key stealth hit from the farting. You could also make the stools storable objects, maybe sellable too? If dried out, they could be passed off as artifacts.

[EDIT] you could also add some COnstipants that could be taken to temporarily reduce the farting, maybe reducing your brown meter, which however would go a darker shade of brown ever time you popped a constipant pill. Too many of these would increase your chances of a random 'bottom blowout'.

Brilliant ideas, especially the bottom blowout one. I'm sure we can all imagine that situation; monolith soldiers swarming in from all sides, bloodsuckers running in for the kill, ammo too low to fight... then a rumble and a shudder and suddenly marked one's arse explodes.

Of course! I forgot about the well-known brown-trousering effect that fear has. I'd tie this in to how many enemies you're alerted to on your mini-map, and also maybe as you suggest to how little ammo you have. Maybe some kind of algorithm could be used.

How about (number of enemies in vicinity (difference bewteen max carryable ammo and ammo actually held) X number of sausages eaten in last hour) minus number of trouser-tremors already had in last game hour) = percent chance of a rear eruption per minute of game time.

Oh, if only I had been involved from the offset in the development of Stalker! It would have had the most advanced digestion model in the history of gaming. It could have been called 'Dynamic Plopping' or maybe the 'Ass-Life' system.

It probably would've added another few years to the dev time, though.

you know, i actually like the sound of this. there is even a way to get new models ingame. i've seen it done, and could be learned if practiced. the models for poo though would have to be really good, or else it wouldn't be realistic. if someone is actually going to try to mod this, ill be happy to point you to the direction of a link i found of how to add new models ingame.

Excellent. I thouroughly agree that the released stools should be carryable items. My gran told me that during the war, people used to fry cowpats and eat them. Apparently they're a bit like a spanish omelette when prepared correctly. We need some additions to the sausages, cans and bread.

Plus, maybe they could be thrown as a weapon? A load of crap thrown in a mercs face should at least limit his accuracy.
